Families can expect a 4-day long weekend from 30 Apr - 3 May 2022 due to the Labour Day and Hari Raya public holidays. Here's a list of to-dos to help fill your it with lots of family fun!

Labour Day falls on 1 May 2022, and since it is a Sun, the following Mon is a public holiday. Coincidentally, Hari Raya Puasa falls on the Tue (3 May 2022), making it a 4 day weekend for families to enjoy! 

With the relaxation of SMM and travel restrictions, families can look forward to a short trip out of the country as well as various events and activities in Singapore! Here's a list of Singapore public and school holidays in 2022 to take note of!

1. Catch the PLAYtime! Imagination Station Performance for Kids

Venue: Esplanade Theatre Studio
Date: 29 Apr - 15 May
Time: 30 Apr & 1 May (9.30 am & 11.30 am), 3 May (11 am, 2.30 pm & 4.30 pm)
Admission: $20

Imagination Station is a theatre performance recommended for 3 - 6 years old as they follow the shy and awkward Jamie on an adventure as he finds his way back home.

One day, Jamie’s world is thrown upside down as he accidentally finds himself aboard an MRT headed to Imagination Station, a place where only imaginary friends go. The train has broken down! Lost and out of his comfort zone, Jamie now must find his own way home. Meeting a few silly characters along the way and some familiar characters from his past, Jamie has to find it in himself to be brave and ask for help. He begins a journey to get the train back in action so he can head home. 

Kids will join Jamie as he tackles his challenges and realise that he is stronger then he thinks he is. 

The show runs on various timings between 29 Apr to 15 May and is 40 mins with no intermission. Tickets are priced at $20 and is available at esplanade.com

2. Enjoy A Live Theatre Performance - HOUSE for 15 Months to 3 Years Old

Admission: $48 per parent/child pair

Follow the Collector in this Live theatre performance with visual and sensory experiences designed to tickle your child's senses.

HOUSE is a peek into our little curious Collector's everyday adventures as she goes out and about, collecting objects from her environment. But what happens when the rain keeps her from going about her daily routine? Can she continue to tap into her curious nature to find joy indoors?

Each adult-child pair will 'live' and view the performance in their own little “house” as they follow the Collector's journey of discovery and fun, rain or shine! The 30min performance includes 45min play time at The Artground's arts space, Fungus Humongous. Tickets are available at $48 per parent/child pair.

3. Visit a Ramadan Bazaar or Night Market

Venue: Various

There was plenty of excitement surrounding the opening of the Ramadan Bazaars and Night Markets around the island. These will still be available over the long weekend and perhaps it will be a great opportunity to bring the kids out to enjoy some street food and to fill the buzz of the holidays. 

In particular, you may wish to visit the popular bazaar, Laloolalang Walk Thru Souq 2022 (till 1 May) where you can enjoy a great spread of food and also catch Kampong Gelam's iconic Sultan Mosque facade transform and illuminate in the dark night, which is part of Cinta Cahaya Ramadan campaign.

4. Head Down To The Uncle Ringo Carnival @ Punggol

Fees: $5 per ride

Located at Social Entrepreneurship and Eco-park Development (SEED) @ Social Innovation Park (SID) or commonly known as Punggol Container Park is a semi-permanent Uncle Ringo Carnival

The carnival has been opened since Mar 2021 and will remain open till Dec 2022. Here you will find carnival ride such as a pirate ship, a carousel, a mini-carousel, Ferris Wheel, train ride and a Dragon's Park.

Each ride cost $5 and some rides allow accompanying adults for an additional fee of $2. So if you are thinking of spending the long weekend having fun, enjoying a nice meal and drinks - perhaps this is the spot for you! 

5. Have Fun With Carnival Games at SAFRA Punggol

Venue: SAFRA Punggol
Dates: Till 29 May 2022, 5 pm to 9 pm (weekdays) and 10 am - 9 pm (weekends)
Fees: from $5 per ride / game

Happening now at the Atrium and Courtyard of SAFRA Punggol is a pop-up fun fair by J'Kids Amusement. Families will find a bouncy castle area, robotic ride, a clown swing, cartoon train and carnival game booths. Rides and games range from $5 - $8 each.

If you have a J'Kids Fun Card, remember to bring it down. Otherwise you will need to get a new one with a min. $20 first time top-up. The games follow a credit system ($1 = 1 Credit) and SAFRA members will get extra credits when topping up your card. 

6. Play At Carnival Games At The Indoor Carnival At Waterway Point

Venue: Waterway Point
Date: Till 8 May

  • Village Square (Indoor): 11am to 9.30pm Daily⁣⁣
  • The Plaza (Outdoor): ⁣⁣4pm to 9pm (Mon to Fri)⁣⁣, 2pm to 9pm (Sat, Sun & PH)⁣⁣

If you prefer to be indoors (read air-conditioned), you may wish to head over to Waterway Point where there is an ongoing carnival with games and rides until 8 May 2022. You can expect games such as robot rides, bouncy castle, carnival games and more! 

There will be both an indoor and outdoor part to this carnival. This carnival is by J'Kids Amusement and pricing should follow the one at SAFRA Punggol. 

*If you stay around the area and is a SAFRA member, you may also wish to top-up your Credits at SAFRA Punggol to get extra member credits. 

7. Have Arcade Fun With Fat Cat Arcade

For some reasons, the carnivals seem to be concentrated at the Punggol area. In case you are not in the area, you may also wish to consider visiting Fat Cat Arcade for arcade / carnival fun this long weekend!

8. Go Jumping At Jumptopia: Wonder Garden

Jumptopia: Wonder Garden is still happening at Gardens by the Bay, Bayfront Pavilion and will be available over this weekend (all the way till 3 Jul 2022).

Kids can follow the Kiztopia Friends into the gardens and join them at the amazing Wonder Garden that has been transformed into a gigantic bouncy castle garden for everyone to have fun at! 11. Have Splashing Fun At The New AND Free Water Play @ Toa Payoh

Located at Play @ Heights Park, this new water play venue is a hidden gem waiting to be discovered! Not just water play, families will also find a sand playground (with flying fox), a high-element playground, a trampoline park and a mini-skate park for kids on bicycle and kick scooters! 

The most exciting will be the water play area where kids can go splashing in the water! The best part - it is FREE! You will even find a washing area with cubicles for the kids to wash up (note that there are no doors).

12. Discover Fun At A Museum

Singapore is home to many amazing AND family friendly museums! Some of our favourites include the National Gallery Singapore, Singapore National Gallery, Lee Kong Chian Natural History Museum (image above) and more! 

Apart from these popular museums, have you also head of these less-known ones - MINT - Museum of Toys, Vintage Camera Museum, Singapore Maritime Gallery? 13. Take Part In Programmes From Singapore HeritageFest 2022

Dates: 2 - 29 May 2022

The Singapore HeritageFest (SHF) is back and this year's edition will commemorate Singapore’s vibrant travel history and rich natural heritage. There will be over 120 programmes across the festival dates, but here are some ideas for families to embark on this weekend! 

Visit the National Museum of Singapore and explore the replica of a Keretapi Tanah Melayu (KTM) train at the Homeground exhibition or head down to Chinatown, Little India, Kampong Gelam and Katong-Joo Chiat to take part in the  Merli-Go-Round to Singapore HeritageFest game invites you to embark on themed quests, earn in-game coins and win exclusive Merli-themed prizes.

14. Go On A Family Escape Adventure Game

A great way to spend the afternoon with the family! On the Island Wanderer Escape Adventure, you will be given a mission to solve a mystery, and through a chatbot, you will receive clues to guide you to various landmarks.

Choose from different themes and routes, and you will tour through your chosen part of the city and stretch your mind while solving tricky puzzles. There is also a learning element as you learn more about featured landmarks to deepen the understanding of our lovely city.

Each Family Escape Adventure takes 1 - 2 hours to complete and brings you to 8 - 10 iconic locations. The locations can be accessed by foot and no transportation is needed to travel between locations. The games are priced at just $25 per game (each family just requires one purchase) with different games to suit different age groups too! 

15. Go On A Cycling Adventure As A Family

Cycling is a popular sport and is suitable for families with kids of all ages. This long weekend, you can plan a day out with the family at the parks, park connectors and various cycling trails (here's some of Singapore's best cycling routes and nature trails). 

Even if you do not own a bicycle, you can easily rent a bike from one of the many bicycle rentals around the island. This list of bicycle rental shops covers the common cycling routes at East Coast Park, Punggol Waterway, West Coast Park, the Civic District/Marina Bay and Pulau Ubin. 

16. Go On A Trip To A Nearby Island - Pulau Ubin, Lazarus Island/St. John Island

Families may make use of the long weekend to visit the nearby islands of Pulau Ubin and Lazarus Island/St. John Island. Suitable for a one-day trip, families can plan picnics and to spend the day exploring these islands.

17. Make A Trip To LEGOLAND Malaysia

For those of you with renewed passports, the long weekend is a great opportunity for a short trip overseas. If you are considering heading over the causeway, we will suggest a trip to LEGOLAND Malaysia for the family!

18. Book A Staycation For The Family! 

If your passports have not been renewed, or if you intend to stay in Singapore for the long weekend, you may wish to consider booking a staycation! While it is quite last min, you may still be able to snag a good deal!

This "never-seen-before" exhibition in Singapore seeks to bring fans and friends of LEGO to re-live travel through exhibits of world-famous landmarks, merging the love for travel and LEGO to provide an interactive and engaging experience for all.

Families can plan a visit to Brickman Wonder of the World at the Science Centre Singapore this weekend to explore the world without even leaving the country! From the Leaning Tower of Pisa to the Great Wall of China, families can also have fun taking part in the "Find Eddie the Explorer" competition to spot LEGO Minifigure Eddie within the LEGO builds. 

20. Go On A Dinosaur Adventure At Brickasaur, Singapore Zoo

Discover over 60 life-sized LEGO Dinosaurs at Brickosaurs World happening at Singapore Zoo and River Wonders. Using over 1.5million LEGO bricks, these dinosaurs are scattered across the parks, including tiny raptors, a 4m tall Plesiosaur and a gigantic T-Rex weighing over 1,964kg! 

There will also be activity stations for the kids to take part in over this weekend so that kids can have fun while learning more about the creature, and even bring home their own creations too! 

21. Have a Bowling Good Time

Bowling is a fun indoor family activity and you may wish to consider this as an activity this weekend. It is not weather dependent and is great for the seemingly erratic weather that we have been experiencing too! 22. Create Messy Art With the Kids at Arty Party

Your children will remain in sight for a piece of mind too. 

This is a 2 hour session priced at $45 and the art jamming session includes materials such as canvas, paint. brushes, apron, and even a complimentary tea/coffee. 

24. Learn The Basics of Pottery

In this 2.5 - 3 hour session, kids will be guided by an experience teacher at The Art Bones Studio to create their own pinch pot or coil pots. At the end of the Beginners Kids Ceramic Workshop, kids will be able to express their creativity, and bring home their very own handmade custom pottery too!  

25. Design Your Own Ukulele AND Learn To Play It

27. Learn To Fly At Aeroviation

In this 1.5hour Full Flight Experience for 2 pax, you and your child can have hands-on flying experience in the Cessna 172 simulator where instructors will be teaching you how to control the aircraft and complete challenges.

After that, be immersed in the world of VR where you will learn parts of the airplane and be in different aircraft! Finish your experience by testing yourself to manage multiple aircraft in the airport with the voice recognition Air Traffic Controller Simulator.

28. Play With Pugs @ What The Pug!

What The Pug is an interesting dog-petting cafe located at Haji Lane that is dedicated to the lovable pugs! Home to 12 squishy pugs, families can visit the cafe to cuddle and play with these little furballs! The pugs are of different ages and sizes from little puppies to more lazy older ones! 

Do note that this is a dog-petting cafe (as oppose to a dog cafe), you will not be allows to bring your own dogs. You may purchase treats at the cafe to feed the pugs!

Take the opportunity this weekend to visit the cafe! Remember to purchase your tickets online and to make prior booking too!

29. Try Out Kayak Fishing With Kayak Fishing Fever

30. Revisit A Fire Station At A Open House!

A very exciting news was made earlier this week! From 30 April 2022 onwards, families can head down to the Fire Station Open Houses again! The popular experience resumes and families may wish to visit this weekend. 

Visits are walk-in, except for groups of 10 or more, and it happens on Saturdays with 2 time-slots - 9 am - 9.50 am and 10 am - 10.50 am. Are you excited to visit the fire stations again? 

31. Visit the World Through Maps! 

Venue: Level 10, Gallery, National Library Building
Opening Hours: Till 8 May 2022, 10 am - 9 pm
Admission: Free

Showcasing rare historical maps, Mapping the World: Perspectives from Asian Cartography brings together different mapping traditions and worldviews, political and cultural spheres of influence, and the exchange of cartographic knowledge between civilisations across the world.

The exhibition, held in partnership with the Embassy of France in Singapore, features over 60 treasures from overseas institutions and private collections. It also highlights rare maps from the National Library, Singapore, as well as local institutions such as the Asian Civilisations Museum and the Indian Heritage Centre.

Families may wish to join a public tour of the exhibition that is happening this long weekend on 30 Apr at 11 am, 2 pm and 3 pm. The 3 pm tour is conducted in Mandarin. 

32. Get Mesmerise At the Rainbow Connection II at Malay Heritage Centre

Venue: Malay Heritage Centre Fountain
Date: 29 Apr - 29 May 2022, Till 9 pm (Closed Mon)
Admission: Free

Co-created by local artist Lee Yun Qin and underserved communities, the Rainbow Connection II at the Malay Heritage Centre is an outdoor installation comprising a total of 500 suspended solar light modules made from upcycled cookie containers and solar lights.

While individually unique, the modules come together to form a fantastical sight when lit up at night, scattering prismatic projections all around. As the units gently rotate and sway in the wind, the installation seemingly comes alive through the dynamic play of shadows, lights and colours.

32. Visit An IKEA To Celebrate IKEA Jurong's Birthday

One year on since the opening of IKEA’s first ever small-store concept in Southeast Asia, it’s time to celebrate IKEA Jurong’s first birthday with free cupcakes and limited edition totebag when you visit and spend at any IKEA stores.
