The Best Preschools and Kindergartens in Singapore [2024 Updated]

Share with other Parents or Go Back

Looking for a preschool in Singapore? Here's a giant list of Singapore preschools to help you find the right school for your child!

Finding a preschool is no easy feat! Where to start, what to look out - there are just so many options for infant care, nurseries, kindergartens and preschools in Singapore! Be it an international preschool, a play-based one or one focused on bilingualism - there are many preschools around the island!

Let us help you get started with this list of the popular and best preschool in Singapore! The list is organised by location and with a section for schools with multiple locations.

Terminology

Before we jump in, we understand that for new parents, there might be confusion over the terms used to describe different schools. So here's some of the common terms and what they mean.

  • Preschool - usually referring to early childhood schools that cater for between 18 months to 6 years old.
  • Infant Care - some preschools will offer an Infant Care, this caters to babies from 2 months old onwards.
  • Child Care Centre - refers to the centres that operate longer hours (usually 7 am to 7 pm) to provide child caring services including nap time, meals and sometimes bath times too.
  • Kindergarten - refers to centres that offer programmes that are usually just a few hours long. They usually do not serve meals.
  • Anchor Operators - these are operators chosen by the Government to offer quality and affordable preschool. There is a cap in terms of school fees

Things to take note when looking for a preschool.

Instead of sharing what you should look out for at a preschool, we like to share some tips about the journey of looking for a preschool.

  1. Preschool starts at 18 months but school enrolment starts at the beginning of the year - this means that you cannot start looking for a school only when your child is turning 18 months. You should start at the end of the calendar year before your child turns 18 months.
  2. Popular schools means longer waitlists - if you are staying in a neighbourhood with high density of young parents or intend to send your child to a popular preschool, be prepared for a 1 - 2 years wait on the waiting list and apply earlier.
  3. Schools with multiple locations - while not always true, schools with multiple locations might be able to accommodate you in a new location if you shift houses or need to go to a new location.

Do you have any advice for 1st-time parents looking for preschools? Share it in our Community Forum too! Otherwise let's go to the list below!
