Types of Student Care Centres
Student Care Centres (SCCs) are divided into two types:
- School-based SCCs that are located within the school. These are usually popular as they do not require the children to travel and
- Community-based SCCs usually refers to the centres that are located outside the school and run by commercial entities.
This list will focus on community-based SCCs as school-based SCCs are usually only available to students studying in the school.
What To Look Out For In A Student-Care Centre
Here are some factors that we believe are most important in considering the right student care centre for you and your child.
- Location: choose a centre that is most convenient for you and your child. It can be near to the school or your home, you can also check if the centre provides transport to and from the school (this is usually included at a fee).
- Price: Not all SCCs are priced the same. The fees can range significantly and it is important to find one that can fit your budget.
- Environment: There is no rule on what to look out for, but generally something that lets you and your child feel comfortable in. Arrange a centre visit with your child to get a first-hand experience of the centre you are considering.
- Programmes: SCCs can offer different curriculums and value added programmes. Find out what the centre offers and whether it value adds to the entire experience for your child.
Other factors that you may wish to consider are meal options, hours, cleanliness, and others.
