The Straits Times is celebrating its' 180th anniversary this year and there will be a travelling exhibition that chronicles the evolution of journalism in Singapore and highlights its pivotal role in nation-building over the past 60 years.

Titled Heartbeats And Headlines: 180 Years Of Telling The Singapore Story, visitors to the exhibition can look forward to interactive stations, engaging videos, and a little gift with the completion of a few quick tasks.

Kids can take part in a “Reporter-in-training quest”, where they’ll get a chance to learn how editors make decisions about what to put on the front page, and travel back in time to see what Singapore’s iconic spots looked like. More importantly, they’ll receive a prize once they’ve completed their quest.

The exhibition will travel to three different locations across Singapore: Jewel Changi Airport, Westgate and Raffles City from July 12 to August 17.

If you ever need to find a free play spot for your little ones at Changi Airport, do head over to this Aeroplane and Rainbow Slide playground at Terminal 3, Basement 2. This newly revamped play space is suitable for 2 to 5 year old. 

We don't recommend heading down especially for the playground as it is not the largest or most exciting, but it is free and well situated amongst the many to-dos at Changi Airport Terminal 3 Basement 2, making it a good pit-stop for a day out at the airport!

For the first time in Southeast Asia, internationally renowned Dutch artist Daan Roosegaarde brings his poetic installation SPARK to Singapore.

SPARK is presented by Gardens by the Bay, IMBA and H&B, in collaboration with the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Singapore. It is part of the National Day celebrations line-up at Gardens by the Bay this August. This year also marks 60 years of strong bilateral ties between the Netherlands and Singapore.

Over four magical nights, thousands of silent, floating light sparks will drift across the Supertree Grove – moving with the wind like fireflies, birds in flight, or constellations overhead.

After touring cities like Bilbao, London and Melbourne, SPARK now invites Singapore to gather, reflect, and celebrate in a new way—without sound, but full of wonder.

You’re invited to the National Museum of Singapore’s biggest National Day festivities yet! From 18 July to 9 August, immerse yourself in a series of interactive experiences that celebrate the present and imagine the future, including a full day of vibrant programmes held across four floors of the museum on National Day.

Starting 18 July, be inspired by the Stories of Singapore: Building Our Heritage Brick by Brick, a colourful brick-filled showcase featuring a large-scale diorama of iconic Singaporean elements. Families can look forward to flexing their creative sides by participating in digital colouring experiences, a hands-on LEGO Make & Take activity and even play a part in completing a record-breaking LEGO mural! 

In the evening, watch the National Museum’s iconic facade come alive with the return of the crowd-favourite National Day Light-Up in Canvas of Light: Our Nation’s Journey. Visitors can watch Singapore’s story unfold through a refreshed visual experience with stunning light art that stands as a tribute to our nation’s resilience and unity.

On 9 August, enjoy a full day of fun-filled programmes and activities spanning four levels of the museum, inspired by the lyrics of the beloved 1987 National Day theme song, “We Are Singapore”, from exciting heritage hunts, thematic crafting activities and more. To wrap up the festivities, families are invited to gather on the National Museum’s Front Lawn for a relaxing picnic under the stars and a live screening of the National Day Parade 2025 from 5.30pm onwards.

Admission to the Stories of Singapore: Building Our Heritage, Brick by Brick showcase is free of charge, and all visitors can enjoy free admission to the National Museum on 9 August 2025. 

Art Therapy Through "Seasons of Life"

Enjoy engaging art therapy activities at stations that are named after the four seasons, Spring, Summer, Autumn, and Winter. After collecting all your stamps at the four stations, participants will receive a small goodie pack. That's not all -- ALL attendees of the event will get to enjoy free snacks. There will also be a kids play table for the little ones. Try your luck at the lucky draw to win some prizes too!

Chinese Children Drama – Journey to the west – Trouble in Heaven

Arts Theatre of Singapore presents a Chinese Children Drama of the iconic tale, Journey to the West, Trouble in Heaven. 

From a big rock on Flower and Fruit Mountain, a monkey named Sun Wukong jumps out. He learns many skills and magical powers during his travels. When he returns home, he borrows a powerful item from the Sea Dragon King and causes trouble in the underworld by messing with the Book of Life and Death.

The Sea Dragon King and the King of Hell complained to the Jade Emperor in Heaven about him. Sun Wukong is summoned and given a low job as a stable keeper. Feeling insulted, he goes back to Flowerand Fruit Mountain, calls himself the "Great Sage Equal to Heaven."

The Jade Emperor sends troops to capture him, but Sun Wukong defeats them and escapes to Earth. After causing chaos at a peach banquet, he runs away again. Heaven attacks Flower and Fruit Mountain once more, and this time, Sun Wukong is captured and put in a furnace to be turned into pills. Surprisingly, he survives and gains new powers called Fiery Eyes and Golden Vision.

After escaping from the furnace, he rebels against Heaven again. Finally, the Buddha steps in, trapping him under a mountain and promising that someone will free him many years later.

Cellography Presents: The Puppet Master - A Night With Disney Songs

This cleverly staged production reimagines a familiar tale in a surprising new setting: a wardrobe brimming with secrets, socks, and stories. 

‘Little Red Riding Hood’ uses everyday objects, poetic language, live music, and a sprinkle of humour to immerse audiences in a gentle, wonder-filled world. Through clever staging and expressive movement, this enchanting show sparks curiosity and invites young explorers to rediscover cherished stories with fresh eyes.

Brought to life by two versatile actors who slip seamlessly between roles, the mesmerising 

play embodies the spirit of childhood while exploring themes of courage, curiosity, and discovery.
