Hey there, lovely parents! Are you looking for a fantastic family day out that's both enchanting and educational? We've got just the ticket for you! Gardens by the Bay has just unveiled their spectacular Rose Romance floral display in the Flower Dome, and it's an absolute must-see for families with young children. Imagine stepping into a fairytale, surrounded by thousands of fragrant roses and tales of knights and legends.

The Timeless Legend of King Arthur

The Rose Romance display isn't just about pretty flowers (though there are certainly plenty of those!). It's a truly unique experience that weaves together the timeless legend of King Arthur with a stunning showcase of over 15,000 roses across 65 varieties. This incredible exhibition also marks a significant milestone: 60 years of diplomatic ties between Singapore and the United Kingdom, making it a truly special occasion.

Step Into a Fairytale!

As you wander through the Flower Dome, you'll be transported straight into the mythical world of Camelot. Imagine your little ones' faces lighting up as they spot:

  • A charming recreation of Caernarfon Castle in Wales, said to have inspired Arthur's legendary kingdom.
  • The iconic Round Table, where King Arthur's knights famously gathered.
  • The legendary sword in the stone, just waiting for a true hero to emerge!

Beyond the Arthurian myth, the display also features delightful nods to British culture, including a Tudor-style house (alluding to the historic Wars of the Roses) and an elegant Georgian-style mansion, reminiscent of London's beautiful architecture. Keep an eye out for classic British symbols like the red telephone box and a red double-decker bus – perfect photo opportunities for the whole family!

A Rosy Extravaganza

Of course, the stars of the show are the breathtaking roses themselves. You'll be delighted by the sheer variety and beauty on display, including four stunning new hybrids making their debut at Gardens by the Bay:

  • Rosa 'Amadeus': A vibrant climber with deep red blooms.
  • Rosa 'Bianco': A charming patio rose with pure white pompon-style flowers.
  • Rosa 'Marchenzauber' (Fairytale Magic): A creamy pink rose with a delightful apricot centre and a sweet, fruity fragrance.
  • Rosa 'Violette Parfumée': Prized for its large violet-mauve flowers and award-winning scent.

And it's not just roses! The landscape is beautifully enriched with other complementary blooms like China asters, delphiniums, and even wild strawberries, all grown by Gardens by the Bay's expert horticulturists.

Beyond the Blooms: Special Touches

Adding to the magic, you'll find real pieces of history and culture on display:

  • Two suits of knight armour and a sword, on loan from the British Club in Singapore, are on public display for the very first time!
  • Beautifully crafted traditional Welsh love spoons, tokens of love dating back to the seventeenth century.

For a truly memorable experience, don't miss the chance to witness the Band of His Majesty’s Royal Marines Portsmouth! They performed at the launch and will have a special 30-minute public performance on Sunday, 29 June, at 2 pm, marching from Supertree Grove to the Flower Dome. It's a wonderful opportunity to introduce your children to the pomp and precision of a military band.

This is a limited-time display till 20 Jul 2025, so gather your little knights and princesses and make your way to Gardens by the Bay for an unforgettable experience that blends nature, history, and pure magic!
