Newly Opened ActiveSG Sports Park @ Teck Ghee

The ActiveSG Sport Park @ Teck Ghee officially opened at the end of January on the site of the former Ang Mo Kio Swimming Complex. The former single-use swimming complex is transformed into a multi-functional Sport Park expanding the community access to sport.

Mark your calendars for 3 March 2026. Singapore is set to witness a stunning Total Lunar Eclipse, and Science Centre Singapore is throwing open its doors for a massive community viewing party. This isn't just a science lesson; it’s an incredible "once-in-a-few-years" phenomenon where the Earth's shadow turns the moon a rich, rusty red.

Science Centre will set up 15 high-powered telescopes for the public, offering 30x magnification to view the moon up-close. There will also be Science Educators on hand to explain exactly what’s happening as the moon moves through the Earth's shadow.

Admission is free and walk-ins are allowed, but pre-registered visitors will get priority access for the telescopic viewing queue. Visitors may also purchase a special bundle that includes telescope viewing and Live Omni-Theatre Planetarium show at $4 per person.

Chinatown will usher in the Year of the Horse with the highly anticipated Chinatown Chinese New Year Celebrations from 18 Jan to 18 Mar 2026, transforming the precinct with a vibrant festive light-up inspired by the Year of the Horse, alongside a rich line-up of cultural performances, weekend workshops and the return of the International Lion Dance Competition.

This year’s celebrations will be anchored by the Official Street Light-Up & Opening Ceremony on 30 January 2026 at 6.00 PM at Kreta Ayer Square, marking the formal launch of the season’s festivities.

The 2026 Street Light-Up, themed “Galloping into the Prosperous Year” (万马奔腾，喜迎新春), draws inspiration from traditional Chinese paper-cutting and is centred around a striking 8.8-metre golden horse installation, symbolising momentum, aspiration and collective progress. The illuminated streets across South Bridge Road, Upper Cross Street, New Bridge Road and Eu Tong Seng Street will be adorned with horse-inspired lanterns, auspicious motifs, orchids and layered red drapes, creating an enchanting festive landscape for visitors.

Highlights of the wider programme include the Countdown Party (新春倒数派对) from 16 to 17 February 2026 at Kreta Ayer Square, and the Chinese New Year International Lion Dance Competition (新春国际狮王争霸邀请赛) on 7 and 8 February 2026 at the Kreta Ayer People’s Theatre, featuring top troupes from Singapore and across the region.

Now in its 12th edition, the 2026 Museum Roundtable (MR) Lunar New Year Hongbao Campaign is ready to gallop into the Year of the Horse with brand new red packet designs!

From 23 January to 15 February 2026, visitors can saddle up for a cultural adventure and collect a set of unique red packet designs at 49 participating museums, heritage institutions and galleries, while stocks last. Each set will contain six (6) pieces of red packets, themed respectively to the 49 participating museums.

Funan presents Creative Intersections "HOBBYHORSE: Rhythm and Forms of Play" as part of the Singapore Art Week 2026 (SAW). Taking inspiration from the Year of the Horse, this art-meets-retail multifaceted experiential exhibition celebrates motion and imagination, inviting visitors to explore, interpret, and find their own meaning through the exhibits, interactive activations, and programmes.

Featuring 24 local artists and 15 retail brand collaborations, expect imaginative displays, pop-up acts, and interactive experiences blending various stores and locations in the mall from Basement 2 to Level 7, including the Level 1 Grand Stairs, the outdoor Kinetic Wall, and 15 retail brands. At the Underground Pedestrian Link, Light to Night 2026 by the National Arts Council transforms the walls with a colourful mural.

In the Year of the Horse, eight majestic, life-sized horse lanterns handcrafted by Chinese artisans using techniques that originated in the Tang Dynasty over a thousand years ago take centre stage at the Spring Blossoms Floral Display at the Flower Dome. Admire the horses as they cavort amid plum blossoms, orchids, chrysanthemums and bamboo — plants collectively known as the “Four Gentlemen” of Chinese art and philosophy.

As the Lunar New Year heralds new beginnings and good fortune, the eight horses symbolise strength, vitality and success. The surrounding landscape draws inspiration from the aesthetics of Jiangnan Gardens, celebrated for their tranquil harmony with nature and regarded as masterpieces of garden design. Echoing the Chinese literati of the past, who sought rest and reflection in such spaces, visitors are invited to stroll through moon gates or pause at pavilions while admiring seasonal blooms, including dahlias, and azaleas.

Before you go, beat the Blooming Drum of Spring, decorated with the classic Baoxiang Flower motif where lotus, peony and foliage intertwine, for good luck. 

Marina Square Lunar New Year–themed Brick-built Playground

Gallop into the year of the Horse with a flavour-packed Lunar New Year (LNY) Mala Celebration, from 8 January to 3 March 2026 across Wild Wild Wet and Downtown East (DE). Visitors can look forward to a playful blend of Mala-inspired waterpark fun and installations, photo moments, and exclusive festive promotions inspired by Singapore’s iconic love for all things Mala. 

To set the tone for the celebrations, the beloved Shiok River has been transformed into a cheeky “Mala hotpot”, featuring life-sized floats and loungers that take after your favourite Mala ingredients – think lotus root, crabsticks, streaky meat slices, cheese tofu, prawns, and more – adding a humorous twist to the waterpark’s signature currents. The quirky atmosphere continues with giant Mala-themed photo installations (to the likes of soup base packets, plum juice, instant noodle packs, and more) around the park, and even a dry Mala Ball Pit perfect for younger guests outside the Tsunami Pool.

The family-favourite PAW Patrol characters are set against vibrant floral backdrops to signify new beginnings for the new year. Income Eco Run (IER) 2026 returns on 19 April 2026 at the Bayfront Event Space, rallying the community once again around climate-positive action under its enduring theme, “How Far Will You Go for Zero Waste?”

Designed to be inclusive and family-friendly, the carbon-neutral run welcomes participants of all ages—and even pets—with an expanded range of categories including 21.1km, 15km, 10km, 5km and 3km runs, a 700m Kids Dash (ages 4–9), a new 1.2km Kids Run (ages 10–12), and pet runs of 700m or 1.2km for dogs and cats (with up to two owners per pet).

Staying true to its zero-waste ethos, the event features compostable cups, smaller run bibs, e-medals, upcycled kids’ medals, carbon offsetting, and a strong “wear-your-own-tee” culture, with an optional $10 sustainability-designed tee made from recycled bottles.

Income Insurance will also donate $1 for every kilometre clocked to support green causes, while new post-event eco learning journeys allow children and parents to explore sustainability first-hand.

Step into a world where tea comes alive at Garden of Senses: A Tea Reverie, a multi-sensory showcase at the Asian Civilisations Museum. Presented in partnership with international tea brand CHAGEE and the Singapore Tourism Board, the immersive experience invites visitors to rediscover tea beyond taste - through sound, scent, touch, sight and mindful reflection, revealing it as a deeply human ritual shaped by centuries of culture and creativity.

Garden of Senses: A Tea Reverie unfolds as a progressive journey that brings together historic collections, contemporary interpretations and new artistic commissions. Across the exhibition, visitors will encounter sculptural installations inspired by tea leaves, immersive soundscapes, fragrance-led experiences, and tactile explorations of tea-making tools. These encounters continue to shape present-day practices and creative expression.

The exhibition experience will be further extended through a CHAGEE pop-up along the Singapore River and will offer a full selection of beverages, as well as merchandise previously accessible only in China.

Garden of Senses: A Tea Reverie is presented as part of the Asian Civilisations Museum’s All Access ticket, priced at S$25 for tourists and S$12 for Singaporeans and PRs.
