Taste on Track: Japan Rail Fair 2026 - A Culinary Journey Inspired by the Rails

Following the success of its October 2025 edition, Taste on Track: Japan Rail Fair 2026 returns with a refreshed concept that places Japanese food culture at the heart of the railway travel experience. Held at the breezy outdoor space just outside JAPAN RAIL CAFE, this special edition serves as a delicious prelude to the main Japan Rail Fair held later in the year.
Organised by JR East Business Development SEA Pte. Ltd. (SEABD), the fair takes visitors on a “tunnel-deep” exploration of Japan’s diverse culinary landscape — all inspired by the way railway travel connects regions, people, and flavours across the country.
With 20 lively and interactive booths, the fair blends food discovery with travel inspiration, offering a sensory experience that celebrates both Japan’s rich rail heritage and its vibrant food culture.
First Stop: Food

From snacks to seafood, shiumai to sake, this year’s fair promises an even more mouthwatering spread than before.
A standout highlight is the “Fast, Fresh & Secure – JAL de Hako-byun Shinkansen Delivery” booth. This showcase demonstrates how Japan’s rail and air networks work together to transport premium regional produce swiftly and securely. Visitors can discover seasonal delights such as Migaki Ichigo strawberries from Miyagi and apples from Aomori, prized for their exceptional quality and flavour.
Across the fairgrounds, a diverse lineup of booths spotlights the depth of Japan’s food culture. Expect to find:
- Mehikari, a delicate deep-sea fish rich in umami
- Anko (monkfish) from Fukushima Prefecture
- Vacuum-packed tuna shiumai from famed Yokohama company Kiyoken
- Confectionery from Akai Bohshi and Matcha An
- Instant noodles from Nissin Foods
Seasonal and regional produce also takes centre stage, including slow-roasted sweet potatoes from Hokota City, citrus fruits from Uwajima City via the LUMINE AGRI PROJECT, fresh fruits and premium vegetables from Tsubame Marche, snacks from Akita Prefecture, fragrant wasabi from the Izu Peninsula, and more!
Food lovers can also indulge in an izakaya-style pairing at JAPAN RAIL CAFE, featuring Hokkaido-style fried chicken zangi skewers and draft KIRIN beer. Meanwhile, JAPAN RAIL CLUB will offer exclusive tastings of curated regional snacks usually reserved for Omiyage Snack Box subscribers.
Next Stop: Time to Travel

Beyond the flavours, the fair continues its tradition of connecting visitors to Japan’s travel experiences.
Popular tourism and travel booths return with knowledgeable representatives ready to share insights, recommendations, and activities. Participating organisations include Akita Inu Tourism, ACCESS TOHOKU, Izu Peninsula Geopark and Tourism Bureau, Yamagata City, Ishikawa Prefecture, HIS Travel, and Classic Resorts Japan.
Visitors can gather travel tips, learn about lesser-known destinations, and enjoy exclusive offers that encourage them to turn inspiration into real journeys — exploring hidden gems and off-the-beaten-path regions across Japan.
Pit Stop: Sake & Liquor Galore

Aficionados and beginners alike will enjoy the casual and accessible vibe at the fair, where friendly experts are on-hand to offer tastings and advice. Highlights include ISEGO HONTEN Singapore, a renowned sake and liquor specialist located next to JAPAN RAIL CAFE, HINEMOS that specialises in sake, as well as sake from Ishikawa Prefecture.
Plan Your Visit
Whether you’re a foodie, a Japan travel dreamer, or simply looking for a unique weekend outing, Taste on Track: Japan Rail Fair 2026 promises a flavour-packed journey — no passport required.
