Children and their parents can look forward to many fun-filled activities and programmes organised by NLB during the September 2025 school holidays. Happening across the libraries islandwide, get ready to read, learn, and discover more this school holiday!

398.2 Storytelling Festival 2025

- 20 Sep, 2pm – 4pm, Jurong Library, Programme Zone
The 398.2 Storytelling Festival is back with a bang! This year, all stories will revolve around the theme “Shine Bright like a Diamond!” Shine on and unleash your inner glow when you listen to engaging, interactive storytellers from Storytelling Association (Singapore).
The festival aims to regale both the young and young at heart with fantastic fairy tales, folktales and fables.

Baby Lapsit

Bond with your baby through songs, rhymes and finger plays in this meaningful play session! This programme is suitable for parents with babies aged 0-12 months old.
Jiggle Read & Rhyme
- 13 Sep, 11.30am – 12pm, Punggol Library, Meeting Room (Level 3)
Get ready for 30 minutes of bonding fun with your toddler and engage your little one
through songs and rhymes! This programme is suitable for parents with children aged 1-3 years old.
The Feelings Adventure
- 14 Sep, 11.30am – 12.30pm, Pasir Ris Library, Programme Zone
Join Chloe the Unicorn and Pooja the founder of Rainbow Kiddies on a magical journey to understand big feelings in little hearts! In this fun, interactive workshop designed for children, kids will explore emotions through stories, games, creative art, and play.
Through a heartwarming read-aloud, lively charades with Chloe, and a colourful craft activity, children will learn to identify, express, and talk about their feelings with confidence. The session ends with a calming group affirmation and mindful listening exercise to leave every child feeling seen, heard, and empowered.
The session is suitable for children aged 4 to 6 years old accompanied by their parents/caregivers.
[Caring for the Environment] Toy Design and Build
- 11 Sep, 2pm- 3pm, Clementi Library, Programme Zone 2
Take part in a hands-on toy-making workshop where creativity meets sustainability! Participants will transform everyday materials — plastic bottles, air-dry clay, and Strawbees — into fun, functional toys. Kids will explore basic engineering and design concepts as they build a whimsical automata: a moving mechanical toy that uses simple cams and linkages to bring characters to life.
Tinkerworks: Friction | Sembawang Library

Learn about how friction works by building your own carriage and testing it out on different surfaces! This programme is suitable for children aged 7-12 years old.
Origami Folding Workshop
- 14 Sep, 12pm – 2pm, Jurong Library, Programme Zone
Come spread joy through Origami! As part of the Origami for Good initiative, your handcrafted creations will brighten the lives of beneficiaries. Families are welcome.
To Buy or Not to Buy?
- 13 Sep, 2pm – 2.30pm, Central Library, Programme Room 1
What does it mean to mindfully consume? Come learn more as little Mei explores mindful consumption riddled with the temptation of convenience and newness. In this storytelling session, we see how little Mei learns about the impact of her purchase and the ecosystem of clothing production.
Plasticraft: Shape Your Trash | GMO LXC

The Great Makeover LearnX Community is about placemaking and nurturing sustainable habits of persons within our communities. The workshop brings persons and places together to cultivate and celebrate sustainable habits by engaging in meaningful community outreach collaborations on sustainability.
