Newly Revamped Woodlands Waterfront Park Playground

Venture to the Northernmost tip of Singapore and you’ll find Woodlands Waterfront Park, a park that boasts great views of Johor Bahru! Families will also be excited to know that the park's playground has reopened recently. 

Woodlands Waterfront Park Playground boast a Amazon structure where children can clamber up and down, as well as test their climbing skills. A curvy slide awaits at the end of their climb! Younger ones aren’t forgotten either, with a section dedicated entirely to the younger ones. Everything here is scaled down in size, right down to a smaller slide. 

The playground has a second ship-themed play structure, which seems to be geared more towards the younger kids. There are lots of climbing opportunities here too, as well as a cute interactive board where kids are tasked to help starfish get from one end to another.

While at the park, definitely don't miss the 400-metre-long jetty that is the longest recreational jetty in Singapore!

Tucked away in the open-air carpark of Hersing Centre is a collection of impressive dinosaur models that feels like stepping into a mini Jurassic adventure. While it's not a theme park or museum, the display is surprisingly immersive and makes for a fun stop if you're in the East—or looking for a budget-friendly outing during the school holidays.

The dinosaur display is just a 12-minute walk from Tampines West MRT (Exit B). Simply look out for the distinctive orange Hersing Centre building—the dinosaur display is located in its open-air carpark.

Reopened Queenstown Sports Centre

If you're looking to switch up your running routine, the newly reopened ActiveSG Queenstown Sport Centre is well worth a visit. Following an extensive refurbishment, the sports centre is home to one of Singapore's most distinctive running tracks.

Unlike conventional athletics tracks, Queenstown's track features a unique multi-surface layout. It combines three artificial turf lanes, designed for a lower-impact running experience that's gentler on the joints, with two synthetic track lanes suited for interval training, speed sessions and faster workouts.

It also features a brand-new ActiveSG Gym with a spacious, high-ceiling layout as well as an Olympic-sized competition pool and dedicated diving pool with platforms ranging from 1m to 10m. 

Most interesting for families will be the children's wading and play pools that are currently undergoing their final touches and will be opening soon!

Catch the National Day Celebrations

Look forward to the National Day Parade 2026 (NDP) celebrations at the iconic National Stadium at The Kallang for the first time in ten years. For those who managed to get tickets, great for you as you soak in the atmosphere at the heart of the action. 

For the rest of us who are not as lucky, you can still catch the celebrations via the LIVE broadcast or head down to the Kallang / Tanjong Rhu areas to catch some of the action in person! Here are some timings to take note of! 

  • 6.45 pm: State Flag Flypast
  • 6.50 pm: Presidential Gun Salute
  • 7 pm: Fire of Joy
  • 7.40 pm: Short Fireworks
  • 8.15 pm: Finale Fireworks 

These are reference from the rehearsals and online sources, so use them as reference. Our advice is to arrive early, even as early as 4 pm, if you like to get a good spot.

Organised by HeritageSG, LTB 2026 will see lights and digital experiences transform historical buildings and hidden spaces across BBB into experiential zones, sparking imagination and uniting communities in honour of the nation’s birthday.

Science Centre Singapore is opening its doors for free over the holiday weekend, packed with an action-filled lineup of ocean-themed adventures, interactive mystery quests, and live science shows that will keep both toddlers and older kids thoroughly entertained.

The SG Science Fest 2026 features massive 10-versus-10 outdoor water battles, a self-guided shipwreck mystery puzzle hunt, and a live dramatic showdown between a robot and a local hawker using fire and liquid nitrogen experiments. The National Museum of Singapore is hosting a massive line-up of family-friendly activities to celebrate the nation’s 61st birthday. SingNation! National - A Free Community Singing Event

Held on the eve of Singapore's 61st birthday, SingNation! National is a free community singing event invites Singaporeans from all walks of life to come together in celebration through music, friendship and national spirit.

This year's edition introduces a special first for SingNation! — a one-day choir comprising VOS members and their invited family and friends, who will anchor the evening's music. The main event is a massive, open-air community sing-along where the general public can simply turn up, join the crowd, and sing along.

Audiences can look forward to an uplifting evening featuring beloved National Day favourites, as singers and spectators unite in a shared musical experience that celebrates Singapore's journey and identity.

The event is open to the public, and no registration is required for audience members.

Discover inspiring stories of hope and transformation at the Yellow Ribbon Community Arts Festival (YRCAF) 2026.

Themed "We Are Each Other's Second Chances", YRCAF celebrates art as a form of reflection. From 14 to 20 August, explore more than 60 artworks by inmates and ex-offenders at One Holland Village, including a collaborative artwork that shows how every act of support can make second chances possible.

On 15 and 16 August, enjoy live performances by the Yellow Ribbon Performing Arts Centre Alumni Band, Amplify SG and take part in a series of free hands-on fringe activities, including coaster making and henna painting.
