15. Visit the New KPMG Wellness Garden at East Coast Park

A collaborative project between NParks and KPMG Singapore, the KPMG Wellness Garden at East Coast Park is the first new multigenerational Wellness Garden in the East boasts four themed sections, including a therapeutic garden, a nature playgarden, a nature fitness area and a pond trail.

Located together at East Coast Park Area D, friends and families can now enjoy a variety of activities, ranging from active play to tranquil nature-based interactions!

At the Wellness Garden, you can also take in panoramic views at the elevated deck, which is accessible via a barrier-free ramp, or go on a leisurely stroll along the pond trail to spot dragonflies and birds amongst aquatic plants such as the Indian Shot and Common Cattail.

Bringing together local and international artists to explore the unstable relationships between identity, agency, and authenticity in our age of boundless digital consumption and hyper-mediation, Proof of Personhood investigates the nature of personhood and contemporary life in the 21st century. While we have not visited, it sounds like something to bring the older kids and to explore their world through art. 

21. Parents Can Take Part in this Free Parent-Only Puppetry Workshop

Having crossed his second birthday and growing more independent, Le Le is set to return to China to fulfil the important mission of contributing to the conservation of the Giant Panda species. Le Le will leave for China in the second half of December.

Even with the onset of COVID, the Halloween decorations have been ongoing (unfortunately no trick or treating). The trick or treating restarted in 2022 and we are sure there will be a massive crowd this year in 2023! So grab your candy baskets and head down on 31 Oct 2023! 

While there is no official website and we cannot promise you when it will happen, the event has been happening on 31 Oct over the years and we are quite sure it will be the same day this year. If you like to impromptu fun, this event is for you!

27. Old Seng Choong Opens a New Store

Venue: Paragon Shopping Centre and Changi Airport

Homegrown confectionary brand, Old Seng Choong has launched its brand new Bake-Off Concept stores in the heart of Singapore at Paragon Shopping Centre and at the world's best airport, Changi Airport. The stores will greet locals and travellers alike with an array of delectable fresh bakes every day, featuring over 15 traditional fresh bakes with a modern twist. 

Retaining the layer of flaky and crispy skin as the key component of the bakes, flavours like Truffle Char Siew, Royal Sweet Potato with Mochi & Ginger, and Classic Yam with Iberico Ham varieties are some of the mouth-watering creations that are exclusive to the Bake-Off Concept stores, not forgetting the melt-in-your-mouth Crème Brulee Tart - one of the best-sellers, and the newest addition, the Charcoal Egg Tart.

28. Choose from 36 Gelato Flavours at the Refreshed Tom's Palette

Located at Middle Road, the cosy rejuvenated space of Tom’s Palette draws inspiration from a vibrant artist studio, and is decked in teak elements as well as eye-catching artwork by local artists. The inviting space seats up to 40 customers and features both sofa seats for cosy gatherings and an organically contoured table that doubles up as a showcase area for gelato-making workshops.

The new space offers a cool environment for families to try the over 200 unique gelato flavours in its library. But you may have to visit several times as there will "only" be 36 flavours at each time! 

29. Try the All New Kids Meal at Dian Xiao Er - Launched on Children's Day

Dian Xiao Er launches its Rainbow Kids' Meal for 12 year old kids and below. Little ones can choose from 3 different sets with flavours to cater to their taste buds and promising a splash of colour to keep them entertained! 

Each serving is made from fresh ingredients to achieve nutritional balance and cooked up from a medley of colours, tastes and textures to keep things fun for robust palates. Also launched at the same time is the Dian Xiao Er Kid's Membership

To celebrate the launch, for three days only from 6 - 8 October 2023, every child who orders a Dian Xiao Er Rainbow Kids’ Meal and finishes their meal will be rewarded with a Dian Xiao Er DD.Duck too!

30. Eat and Learn with LingoAce and Haidilao

In the lead up to Children’s Day 2023, leading online learning platform, LingoAce, has teamed up with the much-loved hotpot concept Haidilao, offering a cultural immersion experience to guests and LingoAce users!

31. Find Out More About the Making of Changi Airport

Step into ‘The Courage to Dream – The Making of the Changi Airport Story’, an LKY100 commemorative exhibition to be held at Jewel Changi Airport. Featuring six interactive zones, the immersive walkthrough exhibition commemorates the visionary leadership, boldness and conviction of the late Mr Lee Kuan Yew. It also showcases how Mr Lee and his team of leaders made Changi Airport possible and paved the way for its success. 

Through untold stories illustrated in engaging displays, with rarely seen archival content, visitors can embark on a nostalgic voyage through time from the 1970s to present day, and even get a glimpse of the exciting future of aviation. The exhibition will be open to the public for free from 16 to 30 September at Cloud9 Piazza, Level 5 of Jewel Changi Airport.

In line with its 60th anniversary, the Singapore Institute of Architects (SIA) presents a new edition of Singapore Archifest. Themed along “Interim: Acts of Adaptation”, festival-goers will reflect on the adaptability of our built environment to respond to pressing issues as the city continues to evolve. 

Centred in the historic Kampong Gelam precinct, the festival demonstrates the ever-changing layers of the city through a month-long line-up of new and diverse programmes. From engaging installations, incubator design workshops, residencies, to thought-provoking talks, expect a season of experimentation and discovery as Archifest intervenes in our urban spaces like never before.

33. Sign up for the HCA Walk With Me Charity Walk

Walk With Me is a family-friendly walk around Marina Barrage that contributes to a good cause! Join beneficiaries of local charity, HCA Hospice, to enjoy a fun morning out in the beautiful surroundings of nature, in a collective celebration of life. All participation fees will be channelled towards providing professional hospice and palliative care services to patients and families in need.

34. Discover More at the Revamped National Library Building

Venue: National Library Building

New sights, sounds, eats, and reads are coming to the National Library Building located in the heart of the Civic District. These will create more buzz in and around the NL Building, starting with the opening of the new Central Arts Library where it will offer offer some of the popular performing arts collections, and the programmes previously offered at the library@esplanade. The space will physically open in 2024, but families can expect a series of programmes in October. These include 

  • Jazz for Curious Listeners (Sep 2023 to Jan 2024): Jazz and music improvisation performance-lecture series held monthly at the NL Building Lobby, with the aim of educating the public on jazz appreciation and techniques of music improvisation.
  • Open Stage Originals (Oct to Dec 2023): A monthly open call opportunity and platform for local singer songwriters, musicians, filmmakers, playwrights and choreographers to showcase and promote their original works.
  • Monthly Movie Screenings (Sep to Dec 2023): Monthly movie picks from the performing arts film collection by Central Arts Library staff, held at the Imagination Room on Level 5 of the NL Building.

Families can also expect the reopening of Central Public Library in January 2024 as well as more food & beverage (F&B) options at the Plaza.  

35. Visit the New Tampines GreenDew Playgrounds

Families visiting the Tampines GreenDew estate will discover 2 uniquely themed playgrounds, one filled with Penguins and another with Cacti for pretend play and a day out filled with adventure!

Located next to the multistory carpark (Blk 647), the Penguin and Buoy Playground will let your little ones imagine themselves as explorers to the Artic! With buoy-themed structures, playful penguin elements, interactive educational components, and cozy seating areas, Tampines GreenDew offers an engaging play experience for young ones.

Nearby you will also find a playground that features cactus-like structures that are interconnected, as well as bridges, nets, and climbing obstacles.

36. Enjoy a Free Concert at Fort Canning Park

Harmony in the Gardens” will feature a performance by Singapore’s home grown singer, actor and host Joanna Dong. Joanna is a ubiquitous figure on local screens and stages and has performed at national events such as the National Day Parade, the F1 Singapore Grand Prix, and the Singapore International Festival of Arts.

Put on your dancing shoes as the concert will also feature Gravity, a mix of international and local musicians. Over the years, the artists of Gravity band have collaborated, shared the stage or opened for world-famous acts like Guns and Roses, Black Eyed Peas, Westlife, Metallica, and Ozzy Osbourne just to name a few. Be ready to party with hits starting from today’s Top Billboard songs all the way back to some fun retro tunes.

Concert goers can expect an evening of live music, refreshments, and fringe activities such as themed photo booths and props, bubble art, balloon sculptors and giant games for all ages.

Bosch Singapore will also be handing over donations of a recent fundraising walkathon to Club Rainbow Singapore, to support and empower children with chronic illness through its Care For Life campaign. All the funds raised will be channeled back to Club Rainbow to support a wide variety of programs and services and vocational activities involving art and music.

37. Play and More at Octoburst! at the Esplanade

In conjunction with Children’s Day in October, Esplanade presents Octoburst! – A Children’s Festival – a festival that encourages artful play and fun for all.

Audiences of all ages and abilities can look forward to an array of exciting performances and activities that will charm both children and adults. Kick off the day with the talented young performers from Bukit View Primary School on the angklung and kulintang followed by an upbeat performance by Junior Rave Harpers. Vibe to familiar tunes, from uplifting renditions of songs about Singapore to Latin-themed songs.

Families can also join the Zip Zap Zoom Collective on a sing-along session featuring well-loved songs. Not to be missed either are Job Search, a roving performance by Freddo’s Children Theatre that inspires young ones to explore their dream jobs, and Musical Tales of Little-Known Tails, a curious musical storytelling adventure by Lin Xiangning.

At 4 pm, come celebrate PIP’s birthday as Dawn Wong and her friends (including PIP, Esplanade's most colourful and friendliest face!) perform jazzed up nursery rhymes and a jazzy birthday song! This is a free programme but registration is required! 

38. Have a Fun Picnic with Grandpa and Grandma at Celebrating with Grands!

Dates: Gardens by the Bay, West Lawn (Next to Bayfront Plaza)
Admission: Free

Celebrating Our Grands (COG), an annual event by Families for Life (FFL) to honour grandparents or elderly extended family members, returns this year with a picnic that everyone in the family, young or old, will enjoy! Head down for a day of family fun with exciting activity booths and stage programmes!

The picnic will be held at Gardens by the Bay where families can spend quality time with your ‘grands’ and let them know how much they mean to you!
