Is it chicken or is it ice cream? Swensen's latest creation, the crunchy 'Fried Chicken', is impressively visually deceptive! It looks like a fried chicken but it definitely does not taste like one - a bite into the "drumstick" will reveal a creamy and delightfully icy core of the brand’s signature vanilla ice cream – a fun contrast to the piping hot, savoury profiles that one would expect!

The creation is coated with an indulgent chocolate shell covered in golden feuilletine and crispy cornflakes to resemble fried chicken skin. Even effort is made to complete the drumstick with a bone - only in this case it is an entirely edible one made with chocolate biscuit.

The ice creams are available in 2 options ‘Fried Chicken’ Ice Cream Pint ($11.80, 2 pieces) as well as Box of ‘Fried Chicken’ Ice Cream ($42.80, 8 pieces) as well as a selection of Swensen's sauces and toppings at $1.07 each.

12. New Restaurant - Griglia Open Fire Italian Kitchen

Venue: 37 Craig Road, Singapore 089675

Griglia is a brand-new contemporary Italian grill restaurant nestled on the ground floor of a conservation shophouse in charming Craig Road. As its name promises, diners at Griglia will be treated to the tastes, sensations and emotions of the summer outdoor grill in a casual setting.

At Griglia almost all the ingredients, and not just meat, fish and seafood, are cooked with the cast iron charcoal grill. This brings out the intrinsic flavours of the fresh seasonal produce, and the warm and cosy restaurant is constructed and clad in the raw materials of the grigliata – wood, bricks and metal.

One interesting aspect of the restaurant is that serving of small sharing portions to allow diners to enjoy a wide variety of dishes, including the meats, especially the ‘Fiorentina’ 30 days dry aged Porterhouse. Even seasonal fish such as Turbot is offered in large and small sizes.
