Modern day pandemic interventions did not arise overnight - the Going Viral exhibition at the Science Centre Singapore will let you learn more about the science journey that has enabled modern day pandemic interventions. 

It seeks to raise awareness around pandemic management and interventions, and the complementary roles that STEM and communities play in curbing the spread of viruses. It will feature three themed zones presented through a range of interactive exhibits, including highlights such as artistic dioramas depicting familiar scenes from the pandemic, a gameshow-styled quiz station on the dangers of misinformation and a variety of multimedia games.

What were founding Prime Minister Lee Kuan Yew’s growing up years like, and what did he have to overcome in order to become a man who helped build Singapore into a thriving cosmopolitan city? In commemoration of the 100th anniversary of Mr Lee’s birth, Children’s Museum Singapore (CMSG) has launched its latest exhibition – LKY100 – The Boy Who Became Prime Minister – which traces the late Mr Lee’s story from his childhood to his career as a statesman, and examines the values he espoused and the legacy he left behind.

The exhibition seeks to deepen children’s understanding of the Singapore story through the lens of Mr Lee’s life and values, and foster a sense of pride at how far we have come. Along with his better-known achievements, children will also discover a more relatable side of Mr Lee, who grew up in the 1920s playing with gasing, marbles and fighting fish. In doing so, the exhibition also aims to show that young people can have big dreams and can make a difference in their communities and nation.

"Now Is Not The Time” is a modern immersive art installation that commemorates the 100th anniversary of the birth of Singapore’s Founding Father Lee Kuan Yew. The exhibition is open to the public daily from 11 am till 8 pm from 10th  till 24th Sep 2023.

The exhibition blends virtual production, AI, generative art, architecture, sculpture art, film, and music to deliver a unique experience, and is designed to appeal to all ages through Instagram-worthy visuals and the incorporation of interactive Alternate Reality (AR) and Artificial Intelligence (AI). Visitors can look forward to appreciating original works by local art schools, and artists from Singapore and abroad.

15. Join the Conversation at the Creating Narratives for Change Festival

Creating Narratives for Change Festival is a gathering of individuals who want to change the way stories are being told about their groups, communities or sectors.

In particular, the discussion around Children as Decision-Makers, by Playeum, makes for an interesting conversation where you will be involved in a playful workshop and discussions, and to deep dive into when, how, and why we should involve children in decision-making. 19. Meet & Greet with Pikachu at Selected Shell Stations

From 1 Sep 2023, Shell will be releasing unique designs of its dehumidifier plushies featuring four Pokémon – Pikachu, Snorlax, Eevee and Charizard – individually at specific periods! 

To celebrate the launch, Shell will be having a special event at six Shell stations where all four Pokémon dehumidifier plushie designs will be available for purchase for the first 60 customers, from 10 am onwards on 2 and 3 Sep 2023!

Curious Thoughts Giving (CTG) and Art Wonderland is running a fundraising initiative with the two-day #CHILDRENFORCHILDREN Family Carnival

Held on 9 and 10 Sep 2023 at The Arts House, families can expect a host of activities such as storytelling by The Twisters, exciting performances, raffle lucky draws, play invitations, and a variety of parent-and-child programmes by Art Wonderland, Thann Singapore and SALTT Workshop. The highlight of the carnival is a children's art auction showcase created by students of Art Wonderland aged 3 - 12 years old, in hopes to raise funds for CTG's beneficiaries

#ChildrenforChildren aims to instil in students sense of altruism for others and a belief in the power of art to give back in meaningful ways! Artworks from the children and more will be exhibited and open for auction from now until the 10th September.

All donations will go towards hiring experienced teachers, purchase and creation of learning materials, outreach efforts to help more children, and supporting the operational costs for the charity. Through CTG's programmes, CTG provides free quality literacy and phonics classes to children from less privileged backgrounds.

The MeshMinds Foundation returns to ArtScience Museum for the third time with MeshMinds 3.0: ArtxTechforGood. This immersive showcase, supported by The Arts Fund, invites young visitors to try extended reality (XR), Metaverse and gaming prototypes developed using the latest 3D world building platforms and artificial intelligence tools.

In the Curiosity Gallery, younger audiences aged 8-12 will have the opportunity to explore 'Sky Farm Island,' a groundbreaking sustainable farming experience, inspired by community farms in Singapore, created by MeshMinds for the Roblox platform. This interactive journey through sustainable agricultural practices is designed to captivate young minds, inspire them to shop and grow locally. 

For older audiences aged 13 and above, the VR Gallery awaits, where 'Aquasia' and 'Geylang Crunk' will transport visitors into imaginative and immersive realms, pushing the boundaries of creativity and storytelling within the virtual space.

    23. Register and Raise Funds in the Ride and Ralk for Rainbow 2023

    Ride for Rainbows is a flagship night cycling fundraising event organised by Club Rainbow (Singapore) since 2012.     The event challenges the resilience and tenacity of riders to complete a gruelling ride, which exemplifies the same qualities we hope to inculcate in our beneficiaries in their journey towards an enriching life.

    For the very first time, the event will feature a brand-new 10km running/walking category this year! The term 'RALK' comes from a combination of 'Run' and 'Walk'.     24. UNIQLO and UNHCR Partner on Unique Youth with Refugees Art Contest

    UNIQLO has co-organised the third edition of the Youth with Refugees Art Contest in partnership with UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency. Using the focal theme for 2023’s contest, “Hope away from home” as inspiration, young amateur and professional artists (aged 10 to 30) from around the world can take part and draw what hope means to them. 

    UNIQLO Singapore will be hosting an art workshop at the kids library within UNIQLO Jewel Changi Airport on 23 September from 4pm to 5.30pm. The workshop will feature a talk to create awareness for the challenges faced by refugees and help customers understand how they can support them. The participants can then create an artwork that centres around the theme of peace, and those who are eligible to take part in the Youth with Refugees Art Contest will be able to scan and register their completed artworks.     29. Creative PLAYground: Of September Sunsets and Starry Nights

    Creative PLAYground is presented by City Square Mall and the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts (NAFA). It is a collaborative series of performances and sonic installations by NAFA students, staff and alumni at City Square Mall. With the support of City Developments Limited (CDL), and the NAFA Collaborative Lab Grant, this is part of a broader series of celebrative events held in conjunction with NAFA's 85th Anniversary.

    Catch members of the IGTQuartet, comprising full-time Diploma in Music and Diploma in Music Teaching students at the NAFA School of Music, as they present a delightful mix of classical compositions and contemporary arrangements over two evenings.

    30. Join the Little Forest Mummy Meet-up + Guided Activity

    Venue: Little Forest, 396 Joo Chiat Place, #02-03, Singapore 428079
    Dates: 6 Sep 2023, 10 am - 12 pm
    Admission: $10 (Limited slots left)

    Recommended for mummies with kids aged between 6 to 18 months old, our next Mummy Meet-up will be happening at Little Forest, a creative enrichment space for children on 6 Sep 2023! The popular school will be providing 30 mins of guided activities for parents and little ones to bond, and there will also be free play opportunities for mummies to mingle and make new friends! 

    The guided activity includes snippets from the Baby Troopers programme - designed to promote overall development through a variety of exciting activities.

    Our lovely friends from Mothercare will also be giving away a free gift bag (worth $50) to every participant too! The session is limited to the first 14 parent and child pair, so don't wait and sign-up here

    31. Visit the RSAF55 Open House

    Venue: Paya Lebar Air Base
    Dates: 9 and 10 Sep 2023 (Open House), from 20 Jul - 22 Aug 2023 (Balloting)
    Admission: Free

    The Republic of Singapore Air Force’s (RSAF) open house will offer families the opportunity for rides on the Chinook helicopter, Airbus A330 Multi-Role Tanker Transport (MRTT) and other aircrafts. These experiences will be taking place during the RSAF55 Open House on 9 and 10 Sep 2023 at Paya Lebar Air Base - the first physical open house in seven years! 

    From now until 22 Aug 2023, Singaporeans and permanent residents will be able to ballot for flight tickets! Each person gets one chance to ballot for up to 4 tickets! 

    Even if you don't get a slot, you can still visit the open house to check out the other activities happening too!
