33. Melvados’ National Day Specials - A Homage To Local Heritage
In celebration of National Day, Melvados pays homage to our local heritage with a full array of local delights true to the roots of every Singaporean. Here’s a taste test of what you can expect from Melvados, Singapore’s local grocer specialising in ready-made gourmet meals.
Presenting their newly launched Orh Nee Cake (S$42.00/kg) and best-seller Ondeh Ondeh Cake (S$42.00/kg)!
Combining soft coconut flavoured chiffon with alternating layers of yam filling (made with real steamed yam!), the lilac-hued cake packs a powerful punch of ‘Orh Nee’ in each bite. The rich coconut flavour brings out the delicate earthiness of the smooth yam paste, while keeping the cake moist, fluffy – perfect for the young and old.
Or head for the upsized version of the beloved Peranakan dessert! Melvados’ Ondeh Ondeh Cake presents a speckled green and white exterior that oozes caramelised goodness of gula melaka and coconut in every layer. Delicately flavoured with pandan leaf extract, each bite into the velvety soft sponge cake introduces a luxurious blend of freshly grated coconut soaked with thick gula melaka syrup. Topped with a layer of desiccated coconut, the homely treat combines sweet with salty, and soft with crunchy, resulting in a complex cake that is both comforting and moreish. Each cake is also freshly baked and flash-frozen so it tastes as good as it does coming straight from the oven!
