1. World of Pinkfong and Baby Shark's Playhouse Arrives at Marina Square

2. Harry Potter: A Forbidden Forest Experience Arrives in Singapore

Following a massively successful run in the US and the UK, Warner Bros. Discovery Global Themed Entertainment in partnership with Fever and IMG, has announced that Harry Potter: A Forbidden Forest Experience will make its Asia-Pacific debut in Sentosa, Singapore from 3 Feb 2024 at Sentosa! 

Harry Potter: A Forbidden Forest Experience will take place on a trail with lush greenery. Inspired by the iconic Forbidden Forest and featuring creatures from the Harry Potter and Fantastic Beasts series, mesmerising lights will transform the landscape into a magical outdoor trail.

Visitors will discover some of their favourite moments from the Forbidden Forest, encounter mystical creatures such as Hippogriffs, Unicorns, and Nifflers, and practice casting their very own spells.

3. Family-friendly Musical - Errol's Garden

Introduce the world of theatre to your little ones at "Errol's Garden," an engaging family musical presented by SRT The Little Company. Suitable for kids aged 3 and above, this delightful production is set to captivate audiences from 28 Feb 2024 onwards! 

Errol loves plants so much that he has them growing out of every pot, pan and teacup he can find in his small flat, to the dismay of his family. He knows that plants need water, sunlight, and space. They need a garden. Errol and his sister Tia search through their block of flats for the perfect space and discover a neglected rooftop full of rubbish. After Errol and Tia clean up the space, they imagine building a community garden, but first, they will need to convince all their neighbours to pitch in and help. A grumpy neighbour, some garden pests and the weather all try to stand in their way, but Errol is determined to make his dream a reality.

Aviation enthusiasts and families can look forward to more fun with the return of "Weekend@Airshow", formerly known as Public Days at the Singapore Airshow 2024. Scheduled for the 24-25 February 2024 weekend, this thrilling event will transform the Changi Exhibition Centre into a hub of excitement with aviation themed family-friendly activities.

From aerial performances to a static aircraft display, families can expect to be wow-ed throughout the day! Tickets are available on SISTIC from 2 Jan 2024, at $17 for children, $34 for adults, and $240 for 4 tickets and 1 car park label.

5. New Playground - Yooland Opens at Westgate

Located at Level 3 of Westgate is a new indoor playground, Yooland! The playground features a futuristic design with LED slides mixed with a pastel pink and white tone. The playground promises lots of space for kids to run around with 2 decks of play space! 

The playground features a tech-enabled pretend play supermarket and kitchen, AR Trampoline Games, Ball-pit, slides and more! 

6. A Special Latin American-themed Sentosa Festive Market

No need to jet off to Latin America for the Carnival, simply head down to Sentosa on 3 and 4 Feb to take part in this special edition of the Sentosa Festive Market

7. Chingay at F1 Pit Building

8. River Hongbao 2024

Enjoy an enchanting Chinese New Year experience at Gardens by the Bay with the delightful mascots Xiaohe (晓河) and Dragon 'Wei Long' (伟龙) from River Hongbao! Immerse yourself in the festive ambience featuring massive glowing lanterns, captivating stage performances and relish carnival games. You can also explore the vibrant food street and traditional lantern riddles & trade booths, as well as a special exhibition showcasing the history and development of Chinese New Year markets in Singapore.

Adding to the festive celebration are virtual activities, including an online metaverse where you could get rewarded for collecting 8 “Dragon Pearls” scattered across the event space, a live Feng Shui show on Facebook, and online contests with prizes to be won.  

9. A Spectacular Drone Performance to Welcome the Year of the Dragon!

Chinese New Year 2024 is set to be a dazzling celebration as it welcomes the auspicious Year of the Dragon. To mark this special occasion, Marina Bay will host an extraordinary dragon-themed drone show titled "The Legend of the Dragon Gate" on six magical nights in February 2024.

The captivating 10-minute performance unfolds the mythical tale of the Dragon King, a revered figure from Chinese mythology. A fleet of 1,500 drones will illuminate the Marina Bay night sky, creating a mesmerizing display that promises to leave spectators in awe.

10. Keppel Centre for Art Education Reopens

National Gallery Singapore reopens Keppel Centre for Art Education with an entirely refreshed space offering a world of wonder for children to learn about art through play. This popular space for families reopens from 16 Dec 2023 featuring new child-centric learning zones and activities that revolve around the theme of Art & Wonder: Nurturing Wonder through Play and Creativity.

The Centre features an immersive learning space comprising seven zones, with stimulating and interactive experiences suitable for children aged 4 – 12. Each zone offers a welcoming and nurturing environment, providing a gateway through which children can be fully immersed in the wonderment of the world of art through play and creativity.

11. The Children’s Biodiversity Library by S.E.A. Aquarium Opens

Venue: Central Public Library, National Library Building

The Central Public Library, located at the National Library Building on Victoria Street, reopened on 12 January 2024 with a refreshed children’s section, which brings the wonders of biodiversity – with a focus on marine life – closer to young explorers. This is the first marine biodiversity-themed learning space for children at a public library in Singapore.

The Children’s Biodiversity Library by S.E.A. Aquarium offers new opportunities, including monthly programmes, for parents and children to have deeper learning in marine biodiversity.

The library includes features such as a floor-to-ceiling column with coral- like features, a collection of marine specimens including shark egg cases and coral skeletons, digital content from the aquarium, an outdoor mangrove showcase, and The  Submarine, a room where families can expect regular educational programmes. The library will also feature gamification kiosks with features such as an interactive digital installation where patrons can colour an avatar from NLB’s well-loved Book Bugs series and see them appear on the projection screen.

12. BeLONG's Art Playground - An Interactive Art Installation

Inspired by Singapore’s iconic HDB dragon playgrounds, BeLONG’s Art Playground is an interactive rooftop art installation that celebrates the Year of the Dragon, thus the playful name BeLONG (龙).

Families will get to play amongst different dragons that were creatively included in the playground's design and artwork too! Families will be pleased to find various play elements including a slide, swings, monkey bars, merry-go-round and more. 

The play equipment are brightly coloured and beautifully designed. Not just for playtime, the installation doubles as a photo spot for those looking to capture their family's photo for the Year of the Dragon.

13. Plastic: Remaking Our World

Plastic: Remaking Our World is a travelling exhibition that charts the material’s meteoric rise in the 20th century, its environmental impact, and cutting-edge solutions for a more sustainable way of using plastics in our society.

Featuring over 300 objects, posters, films, and photographs, including rarities from the dawn of the plastic age, objects of the pop era as well as contemporary designs and projects, the exhibition also includes a local narrative of Singapore’s history with plastics, featuring a blend of physical and digital displays of National Collection items as well as an interactive space.

Families will also find an interactive space that tests your knowledge with the interactive info nuggets and Green Detective puzzles, and reflect on the pervasiveness of plastics in your own daily life.

14. Meet the God of Fortune and Get Gold... Chocolates

The Candy Carnival at Changi Airport Terminal 3 arrival hall is still happening with exciting carnival games, rides, and adorable Changi-exclusive confectionery-themed prizes to be won. Test your aim at the virtual reality shooting game, bring home humongous plushies at the giant claw machine or bounce to your heart’s content at Candy Bounce’s inflatable castle of desserts. 

Do take note of the new opening hours as the Candy Carnival runs till 31 March 2024 from Fri to Sun, as well as Public Holidays and School Holidays.

18. Defence Collective Singapore Commemorates 40 Years of Total Defence

Defence Collective Singapore (DCS) commemorates the 40th year of Total Defence (TD), with a host of special exhibitions and engaging family-themed programmes at the Singapore Discovery Centre.

From 22 January to 17 March 2024, the special exhibition titled ‘Total Defence For Thee!’ champions our defence story, highlighting our journey over the last four decades. It underscores the importance of inspiring visitors to take action to prepare for future challenges.

Taking the form of a role playing adventure, families can engage with interactive elements that showcase how TD is integral to addressing evolving threats and challenges. Pick up a game card and start your journey around the centre - solving clues before engaging the final exhibition! 

There will be carnival games and even free laser tag experience for visitors too! 

19. Lion Dance and Craft Workshop at IKEA

IKEA is one of our favourite places to visit with the family and they have prepared some exciting Chinese New Year activities for families to celebrate with them too! Usher in the Year of Dragon with traditional lion dance and blessings for a prosperous year!

20. Speak Mandarin Campaign Family Talent Competition

The Speak Mandarin Campaign Family Talent Competition is back for its 12th year! This year, teams are to 4-minute performance in Mandarin based on the theme "Childhood Memories” and submit the video by 24 March 2024 for judging in the Preliminary Round. The first price includes $500 cash, tickets to Singapore Flyer, Singapore Zoo and Universal Studios, and more! 

There are 3 categories based on the age of the oldest child, (A) Kindergarten Level 1 or 2, (B) Primary 1 or 2 and (C) between Primary 3 and 6. Each team is to comprise a minimum of two, OR up to a maximum of four members.

As part of the competition, Speak Mandarin will be conducting in-person workshop sessions. During the workshops, trainers will share some basic and useful performing techniques such as voice projection and stage presence. The workshop is chargeable at a minimal fee of $10. Both parent(s) and child(ren) are required to attend the workshop session together.

Part of Kidsfest!, the Very Hungry Caterpillar Show is back! The show has been dazzling audiences around the globe for over seven years, faithfully bringing to the stage Eric Carle’s timeless classics. Created by Jonathan Rockefeller, this production of the critically acclaimed show features a menagerie of over 75 magical puppets, including the star of the show –The Very Hungry Caterpillar. 25. Singapore's First-Ever Tennis and Pickleball Festival

Singapore tennis club Play! Tennis and its sister club Play! 26. The Courage to Dream – The Making of the Changi Airport Story

Entitled ‘The Courage to Dream: The Making of the Changi Airport Story’, the immersive walkthrough exhibition tells the many untold stories about how the visionary leadership, boldness and conviction of the late Mr Lee Kuan Yew and his team of leaders made Changi Airport possible and paved the way for its success in the decades to follow. Across six interactive zones featuring rarely-seen archival content, visitors can embark on a nostalgic voyage through time, from the development of Changi Airport in the 1970s till the present day, and ending off with an exciting glimpse into the future of aviation.  

This is a returning exhibition with the opportunity to view fresh exhibits in the form of newly released archival materials, declassified from the archives for public viewing for the very first time. The documents include intimate perspectives of how Mr Lee paved the way for the growth of Singapore’s air hub.

27. PAssionArts x Singapore Art Week 2024

As part of the PAssionArts x Singapore Art Week 2024 collaboration, installations created by artists and residents have been displayed across Singapore since mid-January. There are currently two installations left that will be up on display until 15 Feb 2024: 

  • The Story of Telok Blangah delves into three significant stories - Sang Nila Utama's expedition, Radin Mas Ayu's legend, and the Attack of Garfishes. Each story resonates with Telok Blangah through direct mentions of the profound significance of the area. 
  • The Everyday Vinyl emphasises sustainability by recycling vinyl collected from print shops and utilising unwanted materials to create their inspirational pieces contributing to larger tessellation murals, and forming blossoming flowers as a community effort. 

28. Singapore First Sky Lantern Festival

Venue: Sentosa, Palawan Green
Dates: 21 Feb 2024, 3 pm - 12 am
Admission: $50 per pax

The Singapore Sky Lantern Festival will be happening at Palawan Green on 21 Feb 2024 and this will be the first time that the event is held in Singapore, as stated on its Eventbrite page. 

The entire event will run from 3 pm till mid-night with a music festival and cultural performances kicking off until 7 pm. Lanterns will be released in batches from 7.30 pm till 9.30 pm before an after-party continues till mid-night! 

There will not be free release of lanterns, instead lanterns will be tethered to the ground with a 60m string attached. This is to prevent the lanterns from floating away and becoming waste. 

29. Royal Caribbean Launches the World's Largest Ship

Royal Caribbean launches the Icon of the Sea, the biggest ship in the world with something for every type of family and adventurer! When first revealed in October 2022, Icon spurred the single largest booking day and the highest volume booking week in the cruise line’s then 53-year history.

We may not see the Icon coming to Asia soon but Royal Caribbean has observed fly-cruise travel grow in demand among Singapore and Asia guests - and you might just be keen to know that the Icon of the Seas will begin sailing from Miami at the end of January, offering bigger adventures and more first-at-sea experiences for families! 

Families can expect an all-encompassing lineup of experiences that combines the best of every vacation – from the beach retreat to the resort escape and the theme park adventure across eight unique neighbourhoods! Those looking for adventure will find six record-breaking waterslides at Category 6 and the Crown’s Edge experience at 154 feet above the ocean! There are also seven pools including the first suspended infinity pool at sea

There are over 40 ways to drink and dine onboard with world-class entertainment including an Olympic-level ice cast at Absolute Zero (Royal Caribbean’s biggest ice arena ever) and the first cast of robots, skateboarders and divers at the AquaTheatre. 

For families with young children especially, Surfside neighbourhood is bound to be of interest as there are family-friendly dining choices and things to do, and for guests looking to travel in style, there’s the most luxurious townhouse yet, the three-storey Ultimate Family Townhouse which includes an in-suite slide, private balconies, and karaoke and entertainment areas.

Parkway Cancer Centre (“PCC”) commences 18th anniversary celebration with a meaningful charity art jamming session with Ms. Jaime Teo – Miss Universe Singapore 2001 and artist(e), and Ms. Gale Choong – PCC Cancer Survivor and artist, where they will share their transformative and healing journey through art.

Suitable for the whole family, ticket is priced at S$15 per person. Tickets are available now on Eventbrite. Art materials and light refreshments will be provided. All proceeds from ticket sales will go to Singapore Cancer Society.
