From 9 March to 3 April 2022, head down to Baker X at Orchard Central to treat your taste buds to Flourcrafts Pâtisserie's (@flourcrafts) signature sweets. You can look forward to an array of French confections comprising signature canelés, madeleines, and financiers, as well as cookies in a variety of flavors.
Flourcrafts Pâtisserie's delicate and delicious boutique pastries reflect the Founder and Baker Xavier Lee's creativity, passion as well as his culinary training in French pastries.
The Signature Vanilla Rum Canelé ($4 each) is a well-loved delight. The custardy crumb is infused with aged dark rum and baked to perfection for a crisp, caramelised exterior that enamours with its toffee notes. Keep an eye out for other special flavours of the week ($5 each) that will be offered on rotation, such as Mont Blanc, Baileys Rocher, Earl Grey and Taro, amongst others.
Flourcrafts Pâtisserie also offers a range of egg-free tiramisus with a twist. The Classic Tiramisu with Kahlua ($12) features whipped mascarpone infused with Madagascan bourbon vanilla and layers of Savoiardi sponge fingers dipped in single origin Colombian coffee and Kahlua liqueur.
For something different, choose a Matcha-misu ($9.50) from TEAramisu tea series highlighting Marukyu Koyamaen Wakatake matcha and Savoiardi sponge fingers dipped in Wakatake tea, or the Yuzu-misu ($9.50), a creation made exclusively for Baker X.
In addition, enjoy crowd-pleasing quintessential French confections like the rich and buttery Madeleines ($3 each) in flavours of Vanilla Lemon and French Earl Grey using TWG tea leaves, and Vanilla Browned Butter Financiers ($3 each).
Take home Cookies ($10 for a 100g Baker X exclusive size, $24 for 250g) in delectable flavours of Sea Salt Fudge, Maple Pecan, and Longan Red Date. The Latter is inspired by Xavier's family custom of having longan red date tea at the dawn of every Lunar New Year to give blessings to each other - a snack reminiscent of the reunions and good times spent with loved ones during this annual festivity.
Baker X was launched at the end of 2021 with the aim of supporting bakers who wish to explore scaling up into full-fledged outlets. The initiative provides them with a business opportunity, at no cost, with a fully fitted baking studio and 10-seat cafe operated in tandem with social enterprise, Foreword Coffee Roasters.
