Youths Celebrate!, packed with a host of exciting programmes, from neon light installations to live performances, may be a youth’s festival but there are plenty of things you can do with your little ones! And on top of that most of the programs are free!
Here’s our pick of 7 things you can have fun doing with your little ones at the festival!
1. Neon Jungle
Location: Supertree Grove
Date: 18 Oct – 27 Oct 2019
Hour: 7 pm – 11 pm
Admission: Free
Step into a brilliant world of plants at Neon Jungle, where you’ll find displays of neon installations of plants found in Gardens by the Bay! Children of all ages will be enchanted by the sculptures on display, especially so by the towering cactus, venus fly trap and daisy. Standing at 10 metres tall each, they’re quite hard to miss!
2. Fun Zone
Location: Supertree Grove
Date: 18 Oct – 20 Oct | 25 Oct – 27 Oct 2019
Hour: 7.00 pm – 9.30 pm (18 Oct – 20 Oct) | 7.00 pm – 9.00 pm (25 Oct – 27 Oct)
Admission: Free
Stop by Fun Zone, which is really a glow-in-the-dark zone to indulge in free activities like neon face painting and to leave your creative mark on a neon graffiti wall!
3. Neon Night Market
Location: The Colonnade (Supertree Grove)
Date: 18 Oct – 20 Oct | 25 Oct – 27 Oct 2019
Hour: 4 pm – 10 pm
Admission: Free
Swing by the Neon Night Market where you’ll be able to find interesting knick-knacks and yummy food to satisfy both your tummies and inner shopaholic!
4. Upcycling Workshops
Location: Cannonball Room (Supertree Grove)
Date: 19 Oct | 20 Oct 2019
Hour: 6.00 pm – 7.00 pm | 7.30 pm – 8.30 pm
Admission: $10/person
You can put your imagination to work, and sign yourself and your little ones up for an Upcycling Workshop. Using different materials, you can get creative in creating your very own version of a dreamcatcher or learn to build an air plant terrarium, and bring home a unique keepsake.
5. Nature’s Playground Exhibition
Location: The Colonnade (Supertree Grove)
Date: 25 Oct – 1 Dec 2019
Hour: All Day
Admission: Free
Nature’s Playground Exhibition is a fascinating photography exhibition featuring self-portraits by 9 personalities from Singapore’s film and media industry, like theatre director Danny Yeo, writer Alfian Sa'at, actress Yeo Yann Yann and photographer John Clang. . The exhibit is an introspection on how nature inspires us.
Nature’s Playground Exhibition is presented by the 30th Singapore International Film Festival.
6. Stage Performances
Location: Supertree Grove Lawn
Date: 18 Oct – 27 Oct 2019
Hour: Various timing
Admission: Free
Sit back with your little ones to enjoy the ambience and music under the starry night sky. From Friday to Sunday, you will be able to revel in the music of different genres by our talented local performers. Oh, and don’t forget to bring your picnic mats to get comfortable!
7. Moonlight Cinema
Location: Supertree Grove Lawn
Date: 25 Oct – 27 Oct 2019
Hour: 9 pm
Admission: Free
Another reason to bring your picnic mats, to snuggle up with your little ones for the Moonlight Cinema! American comedy-drama Empire Records (1995), French drama film The Chorus (2004), and award-winning Indian musical drama Secret Superstar (2017), are the movies that will be screened.
This programme is presented by Singapore International Film Festival.
