Here's list of ideas to create family fun over the upcoming PSLE Marking Days!

For those with Primary school going kids, do note that the PSLE Marking Days are from 17 to 20 Oct 2022 and your child will not have school from Sat till Thu! If you are looking to keep the kids purposefully occupied this super-long weekend, do check out this list of events and experiences that we have prepared for you! 

1. Join The Ranger Buddies To Fight The Deadliest Monster

Venue: HabourFront Centre
Date: 10 - 30 Oct 2022
Admission: Free

Join the Ranger Buddies to take on the deadliest monster in the ocean - single use plastic at this new exhibition at HarbourFront Centre! Together with your animal buddy, Pedro the Sea Lion, bring the kids to complete missions to discover the journey of trash and find out how they can do their part to save marine animals from danger! You will even get to redeem a prize once your complete the missions too!

2. Enjoy The USS Family-Friendly Daytime Halloween Event - Trick or Thrills

Get into the spirit of Halloween at the Universal Studios Singapore! Families who visit from 7 Sep to 6 Nov will get to take part in the popular daytime Halloween event, Trick or Thrills where they will get to take part in a park-wide procession and to meet & greet with their favourite characters dressed up for Halloween! 

3. Celebrate Halloween At S.E.A Aquarium's Deep Boo Sea

This Halloween, S.E.A Aquarium is welcoming you and your little ones to the "Deep Boo Sea" for a time of some ghastly good fun!

The habitats of the marine animals at S.E.A. Aquarium will morph into spooky Undersea Neighbourhoods this season. The dazzling Ghosts of the Sea: Sea Jellies Gallery, Quirky Critters Zone – home to the elephant fish, squirrel fish, old wife fish and more fascinating marine animals, and Creepy Corals Zone with over 100 species of live corals, will be newly decked out in delightfully spooky Halloween decorations.

4. Embark On The New Young Scientist Badge Trails @ The Science Centre Singapore

Dates: 18 - 20 Oct
Admission: $5 for booklet to take part in trail, admission to Science Centre Singapore applies

As part of the 40 years celebrations, the Science Centre Singapore announced the launch of new badges, the multidisciplinary, “I am a young Marie Curie” and “I am a young Margaret Fountaine” badges -  families can embark on a one-of-a-kind Marie Curie and Margaret Fountaine Trail at Science Centre Singapore priced at $5 each, and complete missions guided by a physical trail booklet. 

These trails are exclusively available from 18 to 20 Oct, and those who complete the trail will be entitled to a physical “I am a young Marie Curie” and/or “I am a young Margaret Fountaine” badge and trail booklet, which are part of a limited-edition collection and only available on the three days. After which the two new badges will join the ranks of the other badges and can be earned online.

5. Play At Kidodo Playground With Additional Free Play Time

Kidodo Playground located at City Square Mall is a newly opened indoor playground. While it is not one of the largest, the playground offers a fun packed experience and numerous play elements to keep the kids wanting more! 

 

Suitable for kids 0 to 10 yrs old, kids may enjoy additional 15 to 30 mins free play time when you purchase the Kidodo Weekday Admission on BYKidO. More fun for less! Just don't forget to make a booking before your visit to avoid disappointment!

7. Visit The Interactive A Minion's Perspective Exhibition

The interactive exhibition, A Minion’s Perspective Experience, is based on the world’s most successful animated film franchise, Illumination’s Despicable Me and Minions, this international touring exhibition offers fans of all ages an opportunity to immerse themselves into the captivating world of the Minions!

A Minion’s Perspective Experience is over 1,400 sqm consisting of eight thematic zones, and features various life-sized characters and thematic environments from the popular Despicable Me and Minions films. Families will have the chance to relive iconic scenes from the films, test their skills in a variety of interactive games, design their own fart guns in Gru’s Lab, take photos with their favorite characters from beloved film franchise and learn to dance like Balthazar Bratt.

The exhibition is for the minion fans and those who simply adore the minions. The experience is like stepping into the movie and being part of it. The interactive elements add to the experience and makes it a fun outing for everyone.

8. Have Carnival Fun At Oasis Terraces & Canberra Plaza

The carnivals end just before the PSLE Marking days but you still have the chance to head down to J'Kids Funland at Oasis Terraces and Canberra Plaza, during the weekend! 

From exciting amusement rides such as the Pirate Ship, Battery Rides and more, to fun carnival game stalls for prizes to be won, there will be lots of fun and laughter when you visit J'Kids Funland!

9. Enjoy An Exciting Neon-Art Jamming Session with Arty Party

Arty Party Singapore is a space for families and parents to relax, have fun and to just let go - not forgetting also great for creating family fun too! The space is quite "free-for-all" with paint splashed across the walls and the art jamming sessions reflect that tension-releasing atmosphere too! 

The art studio offers a number of art jamming experiences, ranging from single to group sessions as well as the extremely instagrammable Neon Party experience - available on BYKidO at $69 (U.P. $79) per pax.

The sessions use a mixture of different techniques. This includes Swing, Spin and Splash - kids will definitely enjoy themselves creating art (or mess)!

10. Discover More about The Chinese Singaporean Culture at Singapore Chinese Cultural Centre

SINGAPO人: Discovering Chinese Singaporean Culture is a permanent exhibition at the Singapore Chinese Cultural Centre (SCCC) exploring the distinctive Chinese Singaporean culture through food, language and customs. 

Throughout the exhibition, children and parents alike will have fun tapping their RFID-enabled wristbands to answer questions and polls - all these responses will contribute to a customised report that offers insights to their exhibition experience, which they can print and bring home!

11. Confront Mental Illness At The Colourful Exhibit At The ArtScience Museum of Singapore

MENTAL: Colours of Wellbeing is not an exhibition about mental illness, treatments or cures. It is a welcoming place where you can confront societal bias and stereotypes around mental health. MENTAL invites you to embark on an intimate and personal journey that explores the many different ways of being, surviving and making connections, that have become of increasing importance to us all.

This exhibition features 24 interactive exhibits, art projects and large-scale installations by international artists, makers, scientists and designers that reflect a range of perspectives on mental health and ways of being. In addition, there are seven artworks by Singaporean and Southeast Asian artists that explore mental health from a uniquely Southeast Asian perspective.

We suggest visiting over the weekend before PSLE Marking Days, and you can spend an extra day or 2 without rushing back on Sunday - and beating that causeway jam too!

14. Catch The First-Ever Projection Mapping Show On Esplanade

Venue: Esplanade Courtyard
Dates: 12 - 30 Oct 2022, from 7 pm till late
Admission: Free

Dancing with Lights is the first-ever projection mapping show at the Esplanade. This 5-min show celebrates the Esplanade's 20th anniversary - come watch the facade at the Esplanade Courtyard become the dance floor for lights and dancers in a evocative dance choreography! 

Since the kids will not be going to school the next day, there's another reason to stay out late and catch the show! 

15. Have Fun At A Free Outdoor Playground
