Bring your little ones on a tour of Thow Kwang Pottery Jungle, one of the oldest surviving dragon kiln in Singapore. You will also get to witness bowl, plate and vase making on the turning wheel!

Did you know that the signature pastry of Keong Saik Bakery, known and loved for their fusion of the traditional and contemporary, the Sor Hei, is a tribute to the Majie who lived and worked in Keong Saik area?

Now you are wondering who these Majie are. Hailing from Shunde, Majie refers to women who had undergone the Sor Hei (combing-up) ceremony and worked as domestic helpers. While some of them plait their hair, most of them had their hair tied in a bun.

If you have ever wondered why the Sor Hei pastry looks like a hair bun, you now have your answer.

Bring your little ones and strike a conversation with them about their lives and take a picture with them for keepsake, after all, you don’t get to meet people of past every day. If you are lucky, they may also indulge you in a game of five stones, zero point and kuti kuti!
