Here's a list of weekly family fun events and experiences for you to create family fun this week! 

Here's our weekly list of family fun to-dos to help you create lots of fun times with the kids! This week, get ready for the returning Not So Little Fair where fun and retail for families meet, the family-friendly Trick or Thrills is also back at Universal Studios Singapore, and we explore some of the most unique behind-the-scene tours for families too!

1. Not So Little Fair: September 2023 Edition - Budding Playmates

The Not So Little Fair: September 2023 Edition - Budding Playmates is just around the corner, and it's shaping up to be the ultimate weekend destination for families with kids aged 0 to 12 years old. Families can expect to shop at brands from over 80 vendors, enjoy thrilling stage performances, take part in engaging trial activities, and catch the adorable Minions making a special appearance! 

  1. Minions Meet & Greet and Themed Tea Party: Join the Minions for an unforgettable experience! Meet these lovable characters up close and personal during their Meet & Greet sessions. Plus, don't miss the chance to join them for a themed tea party that will transport your family straight into the world of Minion fun and mischief.

  2. Bounce to Outer Space: Blast off to outer space with Bell on his bouncy Starship Voyager, brought to you by Kiztopia. Let your little ones jump, bounce, and play to their heart's content in this exciting space-themed play area.

  3. Stage Performances and Trial Activities: Be entertained by an exciting lineup of stage performances that will keep both kids and parents engaged and get hands-on with a variety of trial activities that are designed to spark creativity and learning.

2. Trick or Thrills at Universal Studios Singapore

From 6 Sep to 5 Nov 2023, families who visit Universal Studios Singapore will be rewarded with spooktastic fun at the Universal Studios Singapore Trick or Thrills! Families can expect meet and greets with popular characters including Illumination’s Minion Monsters, Sesame Street friends, as well as the return of the Universal Monsters and Scorpion King, while a notorious crew of candy thieves will get guests grooving along to a new live dance and percussion show! 

Throughout the park, fan-favourite characters decked out in their Halloween best will be available tomeet and interact with guests. Come catch the Minion Monsters and Gru’s girls from Illumination's Despicable Me, Oscar the Grouch, Count von Count and Cookie Monster from Sesame Street; as well as Autobots Bumblebee and Megatron from Transformers, with new Halloween greetings for Bumblebee.

This will also mark the return of the Universal Monsters – Dracula, Frankenstein and the Bride of Frankenstein – as well as the Scorpion King in all his might. Not to be missed is a new meet and greet with The Sorceress, whose enchanting beauty and power draws guests under her spell.

3. Take part in the Festivities at Singapore Chinese Cultural Centre

Mid-Autumn Family FUN is a 3 day celebration of the Mid-Autumn festival at the Singapore Chinese Cultural Centre and Singapore Conference Hall with 14 activities specially curated for families and children. The theme ‘Modern Traditions’ encourages families to celebrate Mid-Autumn traditions with a modern twist.

Expect inter-generational activities, workshops and programmes designed for families and suitable for all ages. Families visiting the Tampines GreenDew estate will discover 2 uniquely themed playgrounds, one filled with Penguins and another with Cacti for pretend play and a day out filled with adventure!

Located next to the multistory carpark (Blk 647), the Penguin and Buoy Playground will let your little ones imagine themselves as explorers to the Artic! With buoy-themed structures, playful penguin elements, interactive educational components, and cozy seating areas, Tampines GreenDew offers an engaging play experience for young ones.

Located between blocks 648A and 647A, come and be inspired by the beauty of cacti at the Desert Playground! This playground features cactus-like structures that are interconnected, as well as bridges, nets, and climbing obstacles.

5. Go For A Unique Family Outing in Singapore

Step into the Lives of Our Firefighting Heroes at a Fire Station

Parents looking for a unique experience to bring the family to, here are 3 fun and family-friendly outing that you may wish to consider - these may require booking, so do check the individual tours for details! 

The Yakult Factory Tour is a 1.5 hour tour of the state-of-the-art plant located at Senoko Avenue (Woodlands). It has welcomed visitors across all ages from pre-schoolers to senior citizens! While it is not the most exciting, it is a unique experience for families to get a behind-the-scenes look at the creation of the Yakult drink!'

Many families may already know about the popular Fire Station Open Houses that happens every Saturday at 9 am and 10 am. Families can choose to visit any of the 17 participating Fire Stations to meet the firefighters and paramedics, and learn more on how SCDF responds to emergencies! Do try to be early to catch the demonstrations and other activities that are happening. 

If you’ve ever watched the news and wondered what it’s like to be behind the screen, the Mediacorp Experience Tour gives you an idea! Stand on a replicated set and experience what it feels like to star in a drama, present the news of the day at the simulated news studio, find out how well you’ll fare as a radio DJ, and more. The tour is currently being revamped, but do stay tune and make your next group booking once its available!
