1. Take Part in Free Sports Tryouts at FunFam SportFest

FunFam SportFest 2023 organised by Active Parents is a one-day sports carnival to encourage families to be active, sporty and to create lasting memories together through parent-child activities and spending quality bonding time together!

Happening at the OCBC Arenas on 28 May 2023, admission to FunFam SportFest is free with complimentary activities for families who walk-in and there will also be additional paid activities that require pre-registration too - these get snapped up really quickly, so better signup quickly!

  • FunFamAdventure: go on an action-packed adventure with the FunFamAdventure! Team up with your child and experience active play at its best by exploring the Singapore Sports Hub's iconic spaces while attempting to conquer game obstacles along the way.   • My 1st Coach: get ready to engage in a series of games and physical challenges designed to explore and experience different fundamental movement skills that parents can do with their child.

2. Sign-up for the SAFRA Sprint Kids

Join SAFRA for an exciting event that promises to challenge your child's physical abilities and problem-solving skills! SAFRA Sprint Kids 2023 is back with an NS-inspired obstacle course designed for children to compete and have fun at - there are prizes of up to $500 cash to be won too!

Open to families with children aged 3 to 12 years old, take part in the child only or parent and child categories where your child will be tasked to bring back a confidential document from the enemy basecamp. Testing your agility and speed - participants will have to enter the battlefield, navigate through a series of eight to nine NS-inspired obstacles and crack the code to secure the document!

3. Cold Storage + Giant Kids Run Is Back

Get ready for the Cold Storage + Giant Kids Run 2023! 5. Join the BYKidO Mummy Meet-up on 9 May 2023

Join us at our Mummy Meet-up at Little Forest, a creative enrichment space for children on 9 May 2023! BYKidO's Mummy Meet-up is for mummies to meet fellow mummies on a similar parenting journey and to give you the space to share, learn and support each other. Conducted in a casual setting, parents will also enjoy a discount as part of our arrangement with our venue partner. 

Our next meet up on 9 May is recommended for mummies with kids aged between 6 - 12 months old and will be conducted at Little Forest. At Little Forest, they focus on the creative learning process through artistic activities like dance, drama, music, sports and culinary classes based on the Constructivism theory. The Singapore International Festival of Arts (SIFA) returns from 19 May to 4 June 2023 with a fascinating theme - The Anatomy of Performance - Some People. Families can expect 90 performances and activities, including 4 newly commissioned productions and 11 invited international presentations across 14 venues Families can also go online to experience a new series of writing and animated art.

While many of the performances maybe for an older audience, families may wish to catch HUMANS 2.0 by Circa (Australia), a symphony of acrobatics, sound, and light or visit We Will Slam You With Our Wings, a video and sound installation of seven hanging screens representing a series of 19th century imperialistic portraits. 

7. Heartbeat@Bedok's Free Mother's Day Carnival for Families

Bedok@Heartbeat will be hosting a special Mother's Day Carnival on 13 May 2023 with lots of fun activities for the entire family! The free event includes concert performance on stage by pre-schools and Fengshan Primary School, Magic Shows by Mr Egg and band performances as well as snack booths such as Churros, Popcorn, Hotdog Bun, Ice Cream and Cookies!

8. Ride a Pokemon-themed Cable Car

From 1 May 2023, families can ride on one of 67 Poké Ball cabins soaring 100 metres above sea level as part of Singapore Cable Car's 50th Anniversary celebrations! Not only will the exteriors of the cable car cabins on the Mount Faber Line be wrapped in the red and white colours of Poké Balls, families can also expect five different interior designs, each themed around first-generation Pokémon like Pikachu and Eevee, as well as SprigatitoFuecoco, and Quaxly from the latest Pokémon video games.

That's not all! At Mount Faber Peak, families will also be able to snap pictures at various photo points – including vintage cable car cabins – with a variety of Pokémon like Pikachu, Pichu, Snorlax and Psyduck!

10. PLAYtime! Series: Just As I Am

Venue: Esplanade Theatre Studio
Dates: 21 Apr - 7 May 2023, 45 mins with no intermission
Admission: $20 (Check show timings and get tickets)

Z and B are quite alike, but Z wonders why he can't be perfect while B is confident about who she is. Journey with Z and B in a theatrical dance performance and discover the joys of celebrating and loving all the wonderfully special parts of your unique selves.

This dance performance may include the occasional use of text. There will also be move-along moments which children can choose to participate in, with the support of their accompanying adults.

Note that audiences will be seated on the floor and tickets are required for everyone, including infant-in-arms. 

11. Book A One-Night Stay on Lazarus Island - Tiny Escape @ Lazarus

Located on Lazarus Island, Tiny Away Escape is a group of 5 tiny rooms that will be open for bookings from May 2023. While each room is relatively small, they are packed with amenities to make your stay a comfortable one - this includes air-conditioning, Wifi, TV with Netflix, fridge, microwave, and even a smokefree BBQ grill. 

There is an ongoing opening special of $199 per room for Sun to Thu and $249 for Fri and Sat for stays till 30 Jun 2025. After the promo period, the full price of the rooms are $280 and $320 respectively. 

12. Bake a Pizza for Mummy this Mother's Day

Scheduled to be opened in May 2023, Kiztopia Club The Woodleigh Mall will be the first Kiztopia Club to be based on an underwater theme. The 3,000 square feet space offers immersive play concepts including climbing wall features, trampolines, sand pits, heart-pumping slides, and more. Little explorers and deep-sea enthusiasts aged one to ten years old can look forward to an ‘underwater exploration’ as they navigate their way through the play concepts, take a dip into the mega ball pits, and discover the wonders of the ocean at the role-play rooms.

15. Play at the Newly Upgraded Montreal Green Park Playground

The upgraded Montreal Green Park offers spaces and facilities for all ages, this includes a Sembawang heritage wall, new fitness equipment and playground facilities too! The main play structure is a ship where children can pretend-play as if they are sailing out in the ocean! Children can have fun sliding down the slides and poles while playing with the play panels too! 

Those with younger ones will also find a smaller toddlers play area next to the main play space as well as various types of swings for you and your little ones!

16. Uncover Singapore Stories at the Singapore HeritageFest 2023

Presented by the National Heritage Board (NHB), the Singapore HeritageFest (SHF) 2023 invites everyone to uncover the lesser-known stories about our unique history and heritage through over 80 programmes! 

This year's edition will celebrate Singapore’s vibrant sporting and public transportation history, which is fitting as this year concurrently marks the 50th anniversary of SBS Transit and SportSG, the 40th anniversary of Singapore Sports Museum, the 35th anniversary of the launch of the MRT system and the 30th anniversary of NHB, among other national milestones.

Families can expect heritage and cultural trails, hands-on workshops, tours, talks, exhibitions and film screenings that illuminate the evolution of sports and public transport in Singapore. 

17. Catch Sherlock Sam The Musical

Sherlock Sam is a children's book series written by A.J. Low and set in Singapore. The series follows the adventures of a young detective and his robot assistant, Watson, as they solve mysteries and crimes in Singapore. Sherlock Sam and his robot assistant, Watson, set out to solve a mysterious case at Fort Canning Hill in Singapore with the help of his sister Wendy and their friends, Nazhar, Jimmy and Eliza. Strange ghostly moans have been heard in the area, and the young detectives are determined to uncover the source. As they continue their investigations, they find themselves facing unexpected challenges and twists that test their detective skills

The books have won several awards, including the Singapore Book Award for Best Young Person's Title 2020. The show is suitable for children 5 years old and above with tickets staring from $38 (the highest category is available at $78).  

18. Visit the Newly Opened Naruto Exhibition

The NARUTO TV Animation 20th Anniversary Exhibition will be in Singapore from 29 May to 2 Jul 2023 at Let's Play Marina Square. This exciting exhibition will  showcase classic scenes being brought to life, immersive experiences, as well as exclusive merchandise! 

A total of 8 classic scenes from the popular Manga will be brough to life, including classic moves such as Sasuke’s "Mangekyo Sharingan” and Kakashi “Curse Sealing”! Families can also expect the exhibition to combine sound and light effects to create five immersive experiences for fans to embark on their ninja journeys!

19. Exhibition - Now Boarding: Experiencing Singapore through Travel, 1800 - 2000s

Hop aboard the National Museum of Singapore’s ‘flight’ to discover Singapore with Now Boarding: Experiencing Singapore through Travel, 1800s-2000s, a travel-themed exhibition that traces the evolution of Singapore’s identity as a popular travel destination, through the eyes of those who arrived at our shores from the past to the present. 

Set against the backdrop of Singapore’s colonial past and its post-independence decades up to the present, Now Boarding presents itself as a travel guide and visual exploration of Destination Singapore. Through four thematic sections aligned to the themes of transport, accommodation, food and beverage, sights and shopping; the exhibition showcases a specially curated selection of ubiquitous material and artefacts evoking powerful memories of travel to and from Singapore. This includes the iconic analogue flip board previously located at Changi Airport, to a set of the history-making Singapore Airlines’ A380 prestigious Suites Cabin seat. 

As part of Now Boarding, there will also be a series of themed pop-up experiences that will happen throughout the year, including NMS’ very own disco room, and other complementary programming for everyone. Check in to this exhibition to discover our little red dot anew, and contemplate on our identities as Singaporeans in an increasingly globalised world. 

20. Discover the New Arts & Play Space - Clean Up, Or Else!

While chores are not typically a child’s go-to version of ‘play’ or associated with fun times, The Artground (TAG) has collaborated with The Cminors to create Clean Up, Or Else! - an environment designed to make doing chores fun and meaningful, and even take the children on a literary wordplay spin-around!

In this latest arts installation, household chores balloon to enormous proportions to encourage active exploration and literary fun through poems and play to bring home the messages of shared responsibilities and of building good habits.

21. Visit the Newly Opened Shaw Plaza and Playground

If you are thinking of visiting some place new this week, why not head down to the recently reopened Shaw Plaza at Balestier? Reopened after 3 years, the mall sports a new look with many new F&B and retail options as well as a cinema too! 

That's not all! Located at Level 3 of the mall is a sheltered playground providing some extra play time for the little ones. Kids can expect a Wallhola play structure, trampoline, a flying fox and more! While not a huge space, it will be sufficient for little ones to have a fun time between a movie, meal or grocery shopping!

22. Follow the Singapore Story at Semangat yang Baru: Forging a New Singapore Spirit

Venue: National Museum of Singapore

“Semangat yang Baru” are words from the National Anthem, meaning ‘new spirit’. The Founders’ Memorial’s pilot exhibition explores how values and principles such as multiculturalism, integrity and openness became the foundation upon which independent Singapore was built, and invites Singaporeans to reflect on how these ideals remain relevant today.

The exhibition is a pilot for the Memorial to test how it would present its narrative for its eventual interpretive gallery. The museum also includes interactive and family elements to engage younger ones, but we feel the topic and information may be more suited for upper primary school kids and above. 

23. The National Museum of Singapore launches Reunion - A Social Space for Seniors

Venue: National Museum of Singapore

The National Museum of Singapore has created the first purpose-built dedicated social space for seniors in a local museum. Reunion might not be the usual family-friendly activity that we share, but it will support the museum’s initiatives for seniors, to encourage meaningful conversations and activities and we feel that this might be useful for parents who wish to bring their own parents out. 

The space, which comprises a café and an activity space, supports the health and well-being of seniors, including those living with mild cognitive impairment and dementia. The activity space features a group activity area, an immersive projection cave, a Quiet Room, and music booths, to encourage group activity during the museum’s programmes for seniors and also enhance their museum-visiting experience. 

24. Discover the Singapore Chinese Culture at the Cultural Extravaganza

Taking place from 12 May to 18 June 2023, Singapore Chinese Cultural Centre’s (SCCC) signature festival Cultural Extravaganza, features 11 exciting programmes that highlight the passing on of our culture to the next generation.

From theatre productions, music performances, to TV programmes, Cultural Extravaganza 2023 aims to showcase how our culture has evolved over time and includes a selection of multi-ethnic and multi-cultural performances that encapsulates life in Singapore. Let's take a look at some of these exciting events.

25. Enjoy A Chill Sunday Afternoon with Sunday @ Stevens

A carnival experience pops up at Novotel Singapore on Stevens that is perfect for the whole family! Sunday @ Stevens is the perfect way to spend a chill afternoon with live music, delicious barbecue, bar bites, refreshing beverages, and exciting kids’ activities.

26. Visit Jurong Lake Gardens and the New SkatePark

Already filled with activities for families to spend their day at, Jurong Lake Gardens adds the SkatePark @ Lakeside Garden to its list of to-dos! So head down this week to practice your moves and tricks at the first skate park in Singapore with a parkour park and bouldering wall. 

This 17,000 sqm space will be Singapore's largest outdoor skate park with 5 skate pods for skaters of all levels! Definitely don't forget to check out the other attractions at the park too! 

27. Join SPCA for a Pawsome Pawty

The SPCA is throwing a Pawsome Pawty on 27 May 2023 (Saturday). The event aims to bring youths and young families with children together to bond over their shared love for animals, inculcate love and empathy for animals and learn more about animal welfare issues in Singapore

.Activities planned for the day include experiential exhibits (e.g. trying out of shock collars, VR simulation), games, shelter tours, meet & greet and more!

If you're looking for a new activity to enjoy with your kids, or even just some time to yourself, Rink @ Punggol East is definitely worth checking out. - the largest roller sports rink in Singapore with over 12,000 sqft of fully sheltered rink space, this is the perfect place for roller-lovers of all ages, rain or shine.

31. Visit the Love the Last March Exhibition at Gardens by the Bay

The first edition of a global exhibition, Love The Last March is a sculpture sharing the message of the wildlife extinction crisis that is gripping the globe. But it’s also sharing the message of hope.

Singaporeans will get the first glimpse at the longest sculpture in the world which will be unveiled on National Endangered Species Day,19 May 2023, Friday at the Gardens by the BayA total of 45 of the world’s most endangered species led by a great mountain gorilla, will be marching together in this 192m sculpture. Depicting the greatest animal march on Planet Earth, it aims to bring awareness to the massive rate of wildlife extinction and to help save the animal kingdom.
