Bakes By Ben (@bakesbyben.tld) is next to take up residency at Baker A small, specialised home-based business, Bakes by Ben is a heartfelt endeavour born out of Ben's passion for baking, sharing, and connecting with others.
Growing up with autism, 17 year old Ben contended with sensory challenges in the kitchen, ranging from fear of heat from the stove and oven to an aversion towards loud mixer noises. Yet with an unwavering spirit, resolute passion for the art of cooking and baking, and consistent time spent developing his expertise, Ben has far surpassed these obstacles and emerged as a confident young baker.
About Baker X
Launched in December 2021 by Far East Organization, Baker X aims to support home-based bakers by providing them with an opportunity to have first-hand experience running a brick-and-mortar storefront and interacting with customers face-to-face with a fully fitted baking studio and a 20-seater café.
Patrons can dine in or takeaway the baked goods at the café on Level 4 of Orchard Central (opposite Genki Sushi). The café is operated in tandem with social enterprise, Tea Ideas.
There will be a line-up of bakers throughout the year, and each baker will be in residence for between 2 to 6 weeks.

Recognising the opportunity for Ben to develop valuable practical life skills and work towards independent living, Ben’s parents took the leap and started this venture, offering Ben’s signature Walnut Chocolate Brownies.

Anticipate the hallmark Signature Walnut Chocolate Brownies during Bakes By Ben’s residency. These are perfect squares of rich chocolatey goodness, dotted generously with walnuts and topped with a sumptuous layer of quality dark couverture chocolate. The speciality recipe also promises a fine-tuned, temperate level of sweetness packed within each satisfyingly soft, moist parcel.
Exclusively at Baker X, the Chocolate Lotus Biscoff Brownies are a twist on their signature brownies. A delightful treat for any brownie enthusiast, the brownies are crowned with a luscious layer of chocolate ganache, generously sprinkled with Lotus Biscoff crumbs and finished with a drizzle of melted couverture chocolate. All brownies are available for individual purchase ($2.80 each) or as a box of nine in the Golden Nine ($25).
Another special introduction is the Oreo Blueberry Cheesecake ($7.50 each), comprising a widely loved Oreo biscuit crumb base, a silky blueberry cream cheese layer, and completed by a piquant topping of blueberry compote and fresh blueberries.
Diners can also look forward to Gelato from O Happi Place, available in a single scoop ($6) or double scoop ($11). Alternatively, get the best of both worlds with the special Set ($15.90), which includes 3 pieces of brownies, a scoop of gelato in the flavour of choice, complemented with a drizzle of chocolate or caramel sauce, and crispy pearls. Gelato flavours available include Dark Chocolate Earl Grey and Cookieeee.
