Next in line to take up residency at Baker X is The Good Cupcakes Company (@the_good_cupcakes). From 30 September to 19 November 2023, self-taught homebaker Josephine will be offering an array of beautiful yet low-calorie treats.
Having learnt about the detriment of refined carbohydrates at a young age, Josephine Poh was determined to create visually appealing guilt-free confections without compromising on taste. She had spent months experimenting and developing her own proprietary recipes, handcrafting each component from scratch. In 2020, Josephine left her successful corporate career of 22 years and launched The Good Cupcakes Company with her signature 150 Calorie Cupcakes. She has since expanded her repertoire of exquisite bakes to include customised Bespoke Cakes, Boxed Cakes and Shortbread.
About Baker X
Launched in December 2021 by Far East Organization, Baker X aims to support home-based bakers by providing them with an opportunity to have first-hand experience running a brick-and-mortar storefront and interacting with customers face-to-face with a fully fitted baking studio and a 20-seater café. Patrons can dine in or takeaway the baked goods at the café on Level 4 of Orchard Central (opposite Genki Sushi). The café is operated in tandem with social enterprise, Tea Ideas. There will be a line-up of bakers throughout the year, and each baker will be in residence for between 2 to 6 weeks.
150 Calorie Cupcakes & Shortbread
During her residency, look forward to her bestselling 150 Calorie Cupcakes (from $4) and Shortbread (from $6). The former features rich chocolate, aromatic Earl Grey or vanilla strawberry cupcakes artfully decorated with hand-piped buttercream, offered in Classic, Floral and Puppy. The latter is an eggless, melt-in-the-mouth hand-crafted cookie boasting fragrant buttery notes, presented in various intricately hand-painted designs.
Korean Bean Paste Cookies

Available for pre-order and walk-in at Baker X, Josephine will be debuting her charming rendition of Korean Bean Paste Cookies ($58 for a box of six) in three flavours – Earl Grey, Matcha and Vanilla Bean. A modern twist on the traditional snack, crisp cookies are adorned with meticulously handpiped Korean Bean Paste blossoms, creating a delightful balance of textures and flavours.
Opening Special
Exclusively at Baker X, the first ten boxes of Korean Bean Paste Cookies purchased during her opening weekend (30 September and 1 October 2023) will enjoy a box of six at the special price of $48.
Live Demonstration & Special Discount
Additionally, in the month of October, Josephine will be hosting a complimentary 20-minute live demonstration every Sunday at 3pm at Baker X. During these sessions, she will share her expertise in hand-piping intricate floral designs onto her signature baked goods. Attendees will also enjoy a special 10% discount off every box of Korean Bean Paste Cookies or a Box of 4 Floral Cupcakes purchased after each session (a limited-time offer that cannot be combined with any other promotions).
