Science Centre Singapore’s UNTAME returns as a three-month-long hybrid festival, with 4 different parts to cater to different age groups and interests!

UNTAME: Rebooting Our World is an immersive, blended learning festival boasting a series of phased initiatives from now until 5 December. There are 4 parts to this year's edition of UNTAME, including UNTAME STEAM Festival, UNTAME Online, UNTAME Day and UNTAME After Dark.

UNTAME 2021 is designed to empower an edutaining discovery of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) disciplines, and how their convergence with Arts and Humanities helps drive critical solutions for navigating a post-pandemic world.

Families can expect both online and on-site, including STEM-themed quests, sensory shows, tinkering workshops, a pop-up farmer’s market and even an after-hours event. Here's a look at what you can expect at UNTAME over the next 3 months! 

UNTAME STEAM Festival

Dates: 2 - 10 Oct 2021

Organised by KidsSTOP™, UNTAME STEAM Festival seeks to showcase creative approaches to STEAM-based teaching and learning with a host of educational and sensorial experiences for children.

Targeted at kids between 3 - 6 years old, children will explore ways to build a more sustainable world, through engaging hands-on STEAM activities. This includes a "build-your-own sail boat" activity to learn more about wind power, a "water piano" activity to learn more about circuits and more! 

This year’s theme of Ready, Restart and Play is curated to expose young learners to new perspectives on sustainable living by equipping them with the necessary STEAM tools so they can grow into eco-warriors capable of bringing positive changes to the world.

Ticketing Details

All child participants will walk home with hands-on STEAM kits (Earth Cleaner kit and Tinkr Kit, worth $55). These post-festival maker-toy kits are designed to encourage parent-child bonding while learning about STEAM and sustainability. The kits include a wide variety of materials to allow them to tinker, and an instruction videos to lead in the creative making.

UNTAME Online

Dates: 29 Oct - 5 Dec 2021

UNTAME Online will kickoff as a gamified platform where guests will enter a dystopian and desecrated digital world, representing the dire state of our planet as a result of mankind’s unsustainable practices. Through a series of missions across six habitats, players will go on an adventure to restore ravaged environments and discover how small but conscious decisions can have a big, positive impact on the planet.

This is a online and offline experience in partnership with attractions like Gardens by the Bay and Sentosa, and sustainability-focused brands including Green Monday and Uniqlo. Missions can be completed via videos and on-ground at these partners’ sites.

The missions will also comprise mini games as well as activities complementary to hands-on learning kits. As players progress through the platform, they can earn crystal that can be used to redeem real-life prizes!

There will be 3 types of passes, Thrive, Survive and Revive, each allowing access to a different range of activities. The purchase of premium online passes will also entitle guests to Do-It-Yourself Kits, comprising materials to conduct various hands-on activities that complement the online experience.

UNTAME Day

Dates: 20 - 28 Nov 2021, 27 & 28 Nov (Farmer's Market)

Hosted at Science Centre Singapore, the UNTAME Day is new to this year's festival where families can expect to participate in a slew of sustainability-themed activities to turn trash into treasure with the memory frame making workshop, bottle upcycling workshop and snack pack making workshop.

Guests can participate in activities to transform old CDs into exquisite dream catchers or contribute to the Centre’s record-breaking ambition with CAPtivate to form Singapore’s largest bottle cap wall mural.

On 27 & 28 November, UNTAME Day will also be home to a pop-up Farmer’s Market.  At the market, guests can expect to find a wholesome selection of local produce that promotes food security and sustainability. What’s more, heighten your experience with an interactive session with our local farmers where participants get to learn about science beyond textbooks and experience being a farmer for a day.

UNTAME Day will be facilitated via two types of passes with ticket prices ranging between $30 to $68, each allowing access to a different set of activities.

UNTAME After Dark

 

Dates: 3 - 5 Dec 2021

Science Centre Singapore will be extending its opening hours till 10.30 pm for three special evenings featuring a myriad of activities and performances.

The twilight experience will feature four specially curated zones:

  • Flea Zone – Indulge in a bout of shopping therapy with booths featuring eco-friendly products and vendors that champion sustainability
  • Activity Zone – Step back into the past with classic arcade games like skee rolls or put your knowledge and skills to the test with our sustainability quiz and neon maze sowing activity
  • Lifestyle Zone – Chill out in an immersive virtual environment featuring a 360-degree wall projection that will take you on a journey out of this world
  • Food Zone – Feast on a gourmet selection of fair favourites that are both Instagram able & delectable

Top up your experience with the BlasterNight Battle, a high adrenaline foam blaster battle to test the teamwork and skills of friends and families. Alternatively, register for the premium experience, Magic in a Bottle Workshop to give materials a new sustainable lease of life and learn about resource optimisation in the Built Environment (BE) sector.

Guests will also be entertained by a series of live programmes, including musical performances by the young talents from NUS & NTU bands, showcases by the winners of the Singapore Science Buskers and premiere of “The Electrified Show”, a spectacular high-tech special effect show set featuring lights, lasers, multimedia and robotics created by local artist Kiki Tay.

UNTAME After Dark will be facilitated via three types of passes with ticket prices ranging between $29.90 to $65, each allowing access to a different set of activities. 

Activities are tokens-based, and additional tokens can be purchased on the spot.
