It’s National Day week, and there’s plenty of family fun to enjoy! Dive into free science adventures at SG Science Fest 2026 at Science Centre Singapore, or head to the National Museum of Singapore for a full day of free activities, live performances and hands-on experiences.

1. Dive Into Free Family Fun at SG Science Fest 2026

If you are looking for a high-energy, educational way to spend the National Day long weekend without breaking the bank, this is it. Science Centre Singapore is opening its doors for free over the holiday weekend, packed with an action-filled lineup of ocean-themed adventures, interactive mystery quests, and live science shows that will keep both toddlers and older kids thoroughly entertained.

The SG Science Fest 2026 features massive 10-versus-10 outdoor water battles, a self-guided shipwreck mystery puzzle hunt, and a live dramatic showdown between a robot and a local hawker using fire and liquid nitrogen experiments. For younger children, KidsSTOP™ is hosting a dedicated Junior zone exploring marine life and coral reefs, while the digital-sticker character Quby makes a special appearance with plenty of fun photo opportunities scattered throughout the venue.

It is an incredibly budget-friendly way to inject some learning into the long weekend, with plenty of indoor air-conditioned spaces to escape the afternoon heat, alongside the splash zones outside. Get more details here!

2. Celebrate National Day with Family Fun

The National Museum of Singapore is hosting a massive line-up of family-friendly activities to celebrate the nation’s 61st birthday. From immersive sensory storytelling sessions and a giant heritage hunt to live outdoor concerts and drop-in craft stations, there are plenty of ways to keep the kids entertained. The entire celebration anchors around a huge, free family day out on 9 August, making it an excellent budget-friendly choice for the holidays.

Parents looking to introduce their children to Singapore's history will find plenty of educational value here. Young adventurers can look forward to interactive colour-in competitions, hands-on puppet making, and a stunning evening projection mapping show across the museum's historic facade. Families can even bring along a picnic mat to wind down on the front lawn for a live outdoor screening of the National Day Parade 2026.

3. Experience National Day Family Fun
at Changi Airport and Jewel

Families looking to celebrate Singapore's 61st birthday can head over to Changi Airport and Jewel for a packed line-up of festive activities. From massive character meet-and-greets to unique cultural workshops, store this now in your calendar! 

The main highlight for young ones takes place at ST3PS (Terminal 3, Basement 2), which transforms into a lively festival hub over the long weekend. Children can look forward to free goodie bags, stage games with prizes, and appearances by the Minions on Saturday, 8 August, followed by My Little Pony characters on Sunday, 9 August. Parents can also escape the outdoor heat and massive crowds by staying at ST3PS on 9 August to watch the National Day Parade broadcast live on the giant digital screen.

Families can also catch the National Day Light & Music Showcase at Jewel Rain Vortex, featuring a spectacular tribute to Singapore's beloved National Day Parade theme song, "Home" by Kit Chan.

Beyond the stage entertainment, families can participate in a Changi-wide Buddy Bear stamp hunt to redeem a limited-edition keychain, or explore the new Peranakan heritage experience at Jewel Level 5. This cultural workshop includes traditional costume dress-ups for photos on the Canopy Bridge, craft sessions, and local food sampling. Beautiful National Day-themed botanical displays—including a four-metre-tall Vanda Miss Joaquim installation with moving kinetic butterflies—are also free to explore at the Terminal 3 Departure Hall.

Inspired by the theme "Majulah Singapura. Go Beyond!", SAFRA is bringing families together throughout August 2026 with interactive challenges, hands-on craft workshops, and vibrant National Day celebrations.

Gather your loved ones for an unforgettable National Day Parade experience at your nearest SAFRA club on 9 Aug with LIVE screening of the parade and various activities happening to drum up the festivities. 

• NDP Live Screening & Family Picnic (SAFRA Members' Exclusive): Gather up to 6 family members for an evening picnic and live broadcast of the parade! 5. Enjoy Free Inclusive Music Performances at the Singapore Botanic Gardens with The Purple Symphony

Join The Purple Symphony (TPS), Singapore’s largest inclusive orchestra, for a heartwarming morning of familiar community songs that reflect the values of unity, inclusion, and ability. Bringing together talented musicians with and without disabilities, TPS is a powerful expression of inclusion in action, demonstrating how music can celebrate all abilities and create a platform for everyone to contribute.

For the first time, the orchestra will present a series of four pop-up performances across various spaces at the Singapore Botanic Gardens, taking place every Sunday morning in August, and culminating in a final orchestral showcase on 5 Sep at the Shaw Foundation Symphony Stage during the Gardens’ Heritage Festival.

The pop-up performances will showcase solo and ensemble performances curated and prepared by TPS musicians, demonstrating how inclusion and excellence can go hand in hand.
