This week's list includes free movie screening and activities at the CBD (it is not just ties and suits in this area), the return of the Singapore Night Festival and for flower lovers, Orchid Extravaganza at Gardens by the Bay!

1. Take Part in the Families For Life - SAFRA Swim for Hope 2023

Venue: Virtual, SAFRA Tampines, SAFRA Toa Payoh and SAFRA Choa Chu Kang
Dates: 1 Aug - 30 Sep 2023 (Registration), 1 Sep - 29 Oct 2023 (Swim Period)

SAFRA Swim for Hope 2023 is an extraordinary opportunity for families to come together, participate in a fulfilling activity, and contribute to charitable causes. In this 13th edition, parents and children can choose to take part in the family-centric Families For Life category, where they embark on a meaningful swim challenge, spend quality time together and support a good cause as a family.

Suitable for families with children below 12 years old, the Families for Life category is available at 1KM and 5KM swim distances. To accommodate the schedules of families, the swim challenge may be completed virtually or physically on-site, and for the 5KM swim distance, as a hybrid of both options.

For families looking to include your extended family and friends, join the Team Category and create more splashing fun together as one big group! There will even be a token of appreciation given to the team with the most members too!

Each participant, including every family member, will receive an event t-shirt and a goodie bag, as well as a finisher medal for completing the challenge! So sign-up now to swim for hope and make waves for better lives! 

2. Free Outdoor Movie Screening and Family Activities at Raffles Place

Venue: Raffles Place
Dates: 18 & 19 Aug 2023
Admission: Free

The second edition of the UNWIND @ Raffles Place series, “Feel at Home at Raffles Place”, turns the usual formal Raffles Place into a fun marketplace with an exciting shopping experience at the artisan market, energising lawn games, fun kids activities and even an outdoor movie screening as the sun sets.

Spanning two days, on 18 and 19 August, families can be prepared for lots of fun and finally to wind down with the movie screening under the stars. A great end to a hectic week, and a great way to spend time as a family too! 

3. Singapore Night Festival Returns with 3 Festive Villages

Venue: Bras Basah.Bugis Precinct
Dates: 18 - 26 Aug 2023
Admission: Free

The annual Singapore Night Festival will be back at the Bras Basah.Bugis precinct from 18 to 26 Aug 2023! Get ready for lots of fun and exciting light installations as well as for the first time, a family zone around too! Parents will can also look forward to 3 festive villages scattered around the event zone! 

So head out to the Bras Basah.Bugis precinct to explore the museums and heritage buildings with a line-up of multi-cultural festival offerings featuring works by local artists. From dynamic projection mappings and Night Lights installations, to unique, experiential programmes and food and retail experiences, the Singapore Night Festival 2023 is sure to delight! Don't forget to head down to the family zone around Fort Canning Rise with activities catered to children by the Children’s Museum Singapore.

4. Visit the Gardens by the Bay, Orchid Extravaganza

Venue: Gardens by the Bay, Flower Dome
Dates: 28 Jul - 17 Sep 2023
Admission: Admission to Flower Dome applies

This year’s Orchid Extravaganza, presented in partnership with Embassies of Indonesia and Thailand and High Commissions of Brunei Darussalam and Malaysia, uncovers the allure of orchids in the east tropics that have captivated early botanical explorers and plant hunters.

Each country is represented by orchids cultivated from species native to their land, as well as a recreation of their traditional house and display of cultural handicrafts and artefacts. There will also be a showcase of kebaya by each country, in support of the joint bid by Brunei Darussalam, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore and Thailand to inscribe the kebaya on the UNESCO Representative List of Intangible Cultural Heritage (ICH) of Humanity. 

5. FUSE 2023 - An All-Inclusive F&B Experience

Venue: Marina Bay Sands, Hall A
Dates: 18 - 20 Aug 2023
Admission: Free

FUSE 2023 is a F&B focused consumer show with over 60 exhibitors bringing their best dishes to you from across the world! Just head down to Marina Bay Sands between 18 to 20 Aug to experience the wide variety of delicacies.

Families can enter for free and there will even be $1 bite-sized deals so that you can taste as many food as you like without bursting your tummy or your wallet! You can also expect entertainment during the 3 day festival in this air-conditioned indoor event!
