Building Singapore Festival 2025

Venue: VivoCity, Level 1, Central Court
Date: 5 to 7 Sep 2025
Fee: Free Admission

Looking for an engaging September school holiday activity? Head to VivoCity, Level 1 Central Court from 5 to 7 September for the Building Singapore Festival: From Dreams to Reality, a free family event organised by the Building and Construction Authority (BCA).

Families will embark on an interactive journey through five themed zones, each showcasing how Singapore’s spaces are designed, built, and maintained. Kids can step into the shoes of real-life professionals—be an architect designing community spaces, an engineer operating a tunnel boring machine, or even a drone pilot inspecting buildings! Collect stamps at all five stations to redeem an exclusive giveaway, perfect for little city-builders.

Highlights also include the hugely popular Build the Change LEGO Workshops (fully booked), where children used creativity and imagination to design playful, people-friendly cities with LEGO bricks.

Beyond the games and activities, the festival sparks curiosity about the teamwork and technology that shape our city, offering a fun and meaningful learning experience for the whole family. For more details, check out our write-up here.

2. Join The Great Reef Rescue: A Fun & Free Conservation Adventure for Families

Venue: PLQ Parkside
Dates: 6 Sep - 20 Nov 2025
Admission: Free

For families seeking an engaging and educational day out, a new adventure awaits at PLQ Parkside. Happening from 6 September, Ranger Buddies: Missions Around the World: The Great Reef Rescue offers a free-admission experience designed to inspire young ones to become champions of conservation.

This exciting event is perfect for children aged 4 to 10 as they embark on a series of activities that blends augmented reality (AR) and physical exploration.

We received an S.O.S – Coco the Tortoise needs our help to save the dying the coral reefs! This sounds like a mission for the Ranger Buddies! Here are the activities that the little Ranger Buddies will undertake at this mission!

  • Teleport Point: Get ready to step through the portal and be transported to the mission - don't forget to grab a selfie first!
  • The Fading Reef: Ready to dive into a puzzle mission with your child? Flip the boards to learn the difference between a living reef and a lifeless one. Then, on your Ranger Buddies app, get ready to see the magic happen! Complete the accompanying quiz and watch as Coco's ocean friends swim amongst a healthy reef via AR, right before your eyes.
  • Fishy Problem: This station turns learning into an engaging activity. Your child will play detective, looking for and scanning broken corals to uncover what is harming them. With each scan, they will reveal new clues and gain new knowledge that helps them solve a mysterious riddle at the end.
  • Good Catch: Through this balance board activity, kids will learn what are sustainable fishing choices and learn to avoid unsustainable seafood in their daily lives!
  • Be a Reef Hero: Teamwork makes the dream work! In this fun AR activity, you and your child will work together to protect the reefs. By using your phone’s camera, you'll see the activity come to life, with things popping up on the screen around your child that need to be cleared away. Guide your child to swat away the things that harm our precious reefs. It's a game of communication and quick action that shows how their small daily efforts can make a big impact on the entire ocean!

Upon completion of the mission, children will earn an exclusive Ranger Buddies mission completion badge, collected from Tanglin Cookhouse! This is the 3rd of 8 missions happening till 2026, each mission will have its own exclusive completion badge! Make sure to come back and collect the other badges too!

That's not all! Make it a family fun day out with Lendlease e-Vouchers (while stocks last) and exclusive offers at various PLQ tenants too! Participants who have completed the mission will also be able to qualify for the Lendlease Plus members exclusive Highest Spender Reward to win a stay at Mandai Rainforest Resort (T&Cs apply).

The eclipse begins at 11.28 pm on 7 September and will conclude at 4.55 am on 8 September. The Moon's brightness will gradually dim before taking on its rich, reddish hue during the maximum eclipse (the ‘blood moon’), which will occur from 1:30 am to 2:52 am.

Since it is the school holidays, it might be a great chance for kids to stay up late and catch this rare occurrence too!
