Starting April, Science Centre Singapore (SCS) is inviting you and your family to get hands-on learning for a truly immersive STEM experience!

Themed "Restore Our Earth", in the lead up to Earth Day on 22 April, SCS is inviting you to embark on an exciting photo trail and take part in a myriad of complimentary activities spread across various exhibitions at the SCS. Complete the photo trail to receive a limited edition token* as well as a bonus activity at the EcoGarden to receive an engraved seed.

Be sure to take part in the centre-wide green initiative by donating shopping bags at the Curiosity Shop too!

Apocalyptic Survival

The Friendship of Sun, Earth and Moon

Another cycle has passed and the blood moon is returning. Equip yourself with tools to view the moon and the lunar eclipse at your favourite spot and at your own time! Enjoy the view of the other heavenly body, the Sun, at Science Centre Observatory (weather permitting) too!

DNA & Family Traits

Join our Science Educators as we uncover the secret recipe of life! Learn to extract DNA from cells and build your very own DNA model. This is a perfect opportunity for families to learn the role of DNA in our lives as well as the different traits that we commonly share.

Unbe-LEAF-able
Date: 21 Aug 2021
Time: 10am to 12pm

Learn more about plants and take home a terrarium, a self-sustaining mini-ecosystem in this interactive family programme! You and your child will get to conduct the celery xylem demonstration, view stomata through the microscope and build your very own terrarium.

World of Spectra
Date: 11 Sep 2021
Time: 10am to 12pm
Fee: $40/pax

Much of our understanding of the world originates from investigating visible light. In this workshop, you get to assemble your own laser-cut spectroscope and use it to explore the surprising variety in the composition of light from common sources. This workshop aims to cultivate an interest in using basic physical phenomena as tools for scientific exploration.

Crash Course Astronomy
Date: 9 OR 16 Oct 2021
Time: 7pm to 9pm

Ever wanted to know more about our celestial neighbours? Together with your child, register for our astronomy workshop and learn more about the sun, moon and other planets in the solar system. End the night with a telescopic view of the planets in the night sky! You will get to make & bring home your own sundial and planisphere too.

Young Physicist

Explore physics through various hands-on activities and projects in this immersive, small group session with your own Curious Physicist kit. The programme includes a 15-minute break and refreshment.

Embark on an immersive adventure to experience the life-saving superpowers and extraordinary bravery of some of the world’s most remarkable dogs. Screening at the Omni-Theatre, Superpower Dogs follows the adventure of six working dogs and their human partners as they brave through earthquakes and avalanches, protect endangered species such as rhinos and elephants, and transform the lives of people with special needs.

A family-friendly film with a run time of 46 minutes, audiences will soon discover the amazing abilities of dogs and the astonishing science behind it.

Dance with beautiful butterflies* from around the region at Singapore’s first indoor butterfly enclosure, where humidity and temperature are carefully regulated to ensure that plants and butterflies can thrive.

  • The Curiosity Shop on LAZADA

Tailored to meet the MOE Science Syllabus, the Let’s Explore Kits are designed for primary school students to explore science in a fun way and acquire new scientific skills to study the world around them. From learning about electricity and circuits to discovering the nature of air, forces and shadow, these experimental Kits adopt an inquiry-based approach to learning science, which is central to the framework of the science curriculum in Singapore.

To continue sparking curiosity, wonder and passion for Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (S.T.E.M.), SCS’s dedicated team of Science Educators have curated the Science at Home series – a stay-home series offering a myriad of online resources across different formats and topics, specially curated for all age groups!

From conducting simple science experiments, reading interesting blog articles about the viral Dalgona Coffee or the importance of social distancing, to learning about simple science concepts using the Ready Steady Science material, there is no lack of edutainment for the young and young at heart!
