Satisfy your appetite for fun and enjoyable moments at the National Museum this June holidays, with Get Curious: All About Food!

As part of the highly- anticipated Children's Season, families are welcomed to the National Museum of Singapore to explore five-food themed interactive installations that cover topics ranging from traditional food preparation tools to innovation in food packaging. Plus, check out the range of fun-filled programmes that touch on the topics of sustainability and science. With Get Curious: All About Food, there is much for families – both young and old – to discover and enjoy!

Interactive Installations

Explore five food-themed interactive installations and learn through play! Plus, don't miss two special showcases – This Is What We Eat at Home, a photography showcase by 3Pumpkins, and My Favourite Traditional Snack featuring artworks by students from APSN Chaoyang School!

WanderFOOD Trail

Look out for this sign to spot 6 trail stops as you explore the Level 2 galleries! Learn fun facts about the museum’s food related artefacts and follow the instructions to complete an online quiz. When you’re done, head to the Children’s Season Info Counter at Level 2 (near the escalator) to redeem a pack of biscuits sponsored by Khong Guan!

Interactive Storytelling: The Incredible Basket by Quek Hong Shin

Dates: 28 May; 2:30pm – 3:15pm, 4pm – 4:45pm / 10 Jun; 3pm – 3:45pm, 4:30pm – 5:15pm

In the spirit of environmental sustainability, learn how a dowry gift basket can be transformed to serve a variety of purposes, from delivering kueh to being a prop for games. These interactive storytelling sessions also offer opportunities for
children to touch food-related objects from the museum’s handling collection, role-play as a noodle seller, and perform a short lion dance!

Interactive Theatre: Kampung Hawker Centre by The Learning Connections

Dates: 18 Jun; 11am – 11:45am, 2:30pm – 3:15pm, 4pm – 4:45pm

Discover a slice of Singapore’s hawker culture with Raju, Jumaat and Lim – three best friends who each run a hawker stall in Kampung Food Centre, until Raju faces a problem running his roti prata stall one day. Is the kampung spirit still alive in Kampung Food Centre? And how will Raju overcome this obstacle?

Inclusive Storytelling & Craft Workshop: My Meal Makeover by Playeum

Dates: 3 Jun, 10:30am – 12pm

Join us for a foodie adventure exploring our love for local cuisines. Let’s recreate our favourite meals and let our imagination soar, using recyclable materials like never before! Inspired by Sharon Ismail’s bilingual picture book Makan Time!, this playful workshop is open to children of all abilities.
