The annual Singapore Gallery Month (SGM) is returning from 15 August to 13 September 2026. Organised by the Art Galleries Association Singapore (AGAS), this year's festival is packed with kid-friendly activities designed to take the intimidation out of art. If you are looking for a creative lifestyle anchor for your weekends, the festival offers a mix of interactive, indoor, and rain-proof activities that will inspire your children's imagination and introduce them to local culture.

Here are the top family-focused highlights to look out for during the festival.

Family-Friendly Workshops & Interactive Experiences

Several galleries are hosting dedicated, hands-on sessions where children and parents can get creative together. These activities are perfect for keeping little hands busy while exploring unique art mediums.

  • Epoxy Clay & Chicken Illustration Workshops: Hosted by I.F. Gallery, these sessions offer a tactile and fun way for younger kids to try their hand at crafting and drawing.

  • Found Poetry & Collage Workshop: Held at LOY Art Gallery, this experience allows families to cut, paste, and reassemble words and images into their own unique masterpieces.

  • Immersive Field Recording & Sound Walk: Organised by Sullivan+Strumpf, this unique neighbourhood walk invites families to listen closely to their surroundings and learn how sounds can be transformed into art.

Weekend Precinct Tours & Festival Days

If you want to explore multiple galleries without the stress of planning the route yourself, the festival features curated festival days and guided walks.

  • Gillman Gatherings (15 August): Marking the official start of Singapore Gallery Month, the Gillman Barracks art enclave will come alive with a full day of exhibition openings, outdoor vibes, and talks suitable for the whole family.

  • Art After Hours (29 August): Located at Tanjong Pagar Distripark, this evening event features live performances, tours, and extended gallery opening hours—ideal for an evening out with older kids.

  • Guided Precinct Tours (Weekends, 22 Aug – 5 Sep): Led by artist and curator Daniel Chong, these family-friendly walks take you through key arts clusters in Bras Basah and Orchard Road, making it easy to hop from one gallery to the next.

Fascinating Exhibitions to Explore

Many of the participating galleries feature striking visual displays that will capture your children's interest, from moving images to large-scale paper sculptures.

  • Taiki Sakpisit: 13 Nightmares (ShanghART): A labyrinth of moving images, photographs, and soundscapes that creates an immersive, multi-sensory environment.

  • Neha Vedpathak: Land, Body, Spirit (Sundaram Tagore Gallery): Features stunning, texture-rich sculptural installations and wall reliefs made entirely from Japanese paper.

  • The Lie of the Land (FOST Gallery): A National Day-themed group show by Singaporean artists, offering a great entry point for talking to your kids about local culture and geography.

With over 100 events happening, families may find it hard to keep track aand find out what is happening. To help you, you may refer to this LIVE Google sheet where the organisers update the latest details about the various exhibitions, workshops and tours.

BYKidO Pro-Tip: Many galleries are located in clusters like Gillman Barracks and Tanjong Pagar Distripark, we highly recommend planning your visit around Gillman Gatherings on 15 August or Art After Hours on 29 August. This allows you to experience multiple kid-friendly activities, open spaces, and food options in a single afternoon without having to travel between multiple locations.
