Arts House Limited invites families to engage in art-filled family fun across two weekends at The Arts House and at the Goodman Arts Centre this June holidays! 

Looking for engaging, educational AND fun activities for your kids this school holidays? Here are TWO ideas just for you! Head down to The Arts House for its first-ever literary-based programme weekend for children, Monstrous Fun! @ The Arts House, and to the Goodman Arts Centre the following week as they celebrate the annual Goodman Open House!

Monstrous Fun! @ The Arts House 

Venue: The Arts House
Dates: 17 - 19 June 2022
Admission: Free, charges may apply for certain programmes

Visit The Arts House for its first-ever literary weekend for children this June school holidays where you are invited to journey into the imaginative universe of little monsters and discover their world of stories! Suitable for children aged between 3 - 12 years old, families will find a line-up of literary-based programmes in English, Chinese, Malay, and Tamil.

You can expect to go around the house to look for clues in Monster Hunt, be enthralled by interactive storytelling sessions, explore new book titles at our book fair, or pair up with mum or dad for a family Yoga session! 

1. Monster Hunt

Venue: Around The Arts House
Admission: Free

Collect your Hunt Booklets at the information counter and start an adventure to uncover the mysterious cave full of monsters that has surfaced within the grounds of The Arts House! Solve the mystery on this exciting scavenger hunt and unlock the treasure trove of exciting stories by solving puzzles around the House.  

You will even stand a chance to win attractive prizes – limited prizes given out daily while stocks last! 

2. Kids Yoga & Storytelling

Venue: Gallery II
Admission: $30 per parent/child pair (Booking Here)

In this one-hour session of Mindful Movement with the Mindful Monsters, children will mindfully move through a series of yoga poses as they listen to how Mindful Monsters picked up their courage to go save the world. They will discover their superpowers, believe in the power in them and practice to build upon their strengths and flexibility to help complete their mission.

It’s a fun and creative way to get kids moving, using their imaginations, and exercising a number of cognitive and developmental skills.

There are 3 sessions to choose from, each catering to a different age group. Booking is required and can be done here.

    Recommended for parents with children ages 8-12 years.
  • Session 2
    19 June 2022 | 10:30 am - 11:30am
    Recommended for parents with children ages 3-7 years.
  • Session 3 (Father's Day Theme)
    19 June 2022 | 4:30 - 5:30pm
    Recommended for parents with children ages 5-12 years.

3. Interactive Storytelling Sessions

Venue: Various venues in The Arts House
Admission: Free with registration

Throughout the festival, you will also be invited to join a series of interactive storytelling sessions. each with a different theme and activity. Click on the registration links for these sessions for more details! 

4. Monster & Friends - Create Your Own Tote Bag Workshop

Venue: Gallery II
Date: 18 Jun, 11 am - 12 pm
Admission: $40 per pax* (Book here)

Personalise your very own tote bag with your favourite monster! In this one-hour workshop, participants will learn to create shapes from felt cloth to design a monstrously cool tote bag. No sewing is needed and this monster friend will be your bestie to accompany you on your everyday errands!

Suitable for families with children. Children below 10 years old will need to be accompanied by a parent / guardian.

*Workshop participants will receive an exclusive goodie bag from UHU®️ worth $30.

Goodman Open House

Venue: The Goodman Arts Centre
Date: 25 Jun, from 10 am
Admission: Free

The popular Goodman Open House is BACK! Happening in a physical format at the Goodman Arts Centre, families can look forward to a fun-filled day of open studios, workshops, outdoor performances, in studio sessions, and all-day fringe activities.

Treat yourself to roving performances, get creative at the interactive workshops and sneak a peek at the artists’ studios as you explore the expansive grounds of Singapore’s largest arts enclave. Don't forget to also step into the Goodman Community Farm to experience nature and its beauty, and shop at the pop-up market for handmade trinkets and crafted wares to bring home.

1. Open Studio & Puppet-making Activity: Paper Monkey Theatre

Venue: Blk B, #01-05
Time: 10.30 am - 5 pm: Exhibition, 11 am - 5 pm: Puppet making, (Break: 12 pm - 1 pm)
Admission: Free

Design and build your own puppet in Paper Monkey Theatre’s Treehouse! Take a tour around the space and learn more about the various types of puppets that were used in the shows. You will also have the rare opportunity to touch and manipulate the puppets!

2. Dance Workshop for Families by Decadance Co.

Venue: Blk B, #05-06
Time: 12 pm - 1 pm
Admission: $10 per pax (Book here)

Experience first-hand how dance can bring mental, physical and social wellbeing with our decasilver dance workshops. Originally programmed for senior beneficiaries in the heartlands, the group dance games, challenges and choreography help bring dance to every family member, old and young alike! Recharge your mobility and mood with fun music to boot.

3. A Little RAW Movement Workshops (An Inclusive Programme)

Venue: Blk B, #01-08
Time: 9.45 am - 10.45 am (for 4 - 6 years old), 10.45 am - 11.45 am (for 7 - 10 years old)
Admission: $12.50 per pax (Book here: 4 - 6 years old | 7 - 10 years old)

For younger children (4 - 6 years old), the workshop focuses on introducing them to the basics of creative movement through fun and play, while helping them express their imagination.

Older children (7 - 10 years old) who attend the workshop will be taught different dance techniques, higher psychomotor development and social-integration skills in the learning and interpretation of creative movement.

Brought to you by A Little RAW Company (ALR), an inclusive company for children and youths who are trained in contemporary dance techniques and movement improvisation, these workshops bring together young movers from diverse abilities and backgrounds, with the aim to make original dance with new perspectives and spaces for diverse audiences, whilst celebrating “Diversability”.

4. Free Fun Arts Experiences

Families may also experience fun arts activities facilitated by the artists themselves, or even join them at their studio. These happen throughout the day, click on the individual links below to find out more!
