Looking for a fresh spot to take the kids that isn't another crowded mall? Temasek Shophouse has officially completed its multi-year transformation, opening a refreshed outdoor community space on 14 March 2026

This heritage-led project isn't just about old buildings; it's a "City in Nature" destination designed to bring families closer to the environment through interactive learning and green social spaces.

Whether you want to show the little ones where their food comes from or simply need a breezy spot to relax after a day at Orchard Road, this new extension offers a meaningful way to experience Singapore's heritage and future in one go.

Active Learning & Nature Discovery

The new outdoor area has been designed with biodiversity in mind, making it a living classroom for curious kids.

Native Gardens: The landscape is filled with fully native plants chosen to support local wildlife and pollinators. Guide the kids to the Bug Hotels and see if any of the pollinators are visiting! 

Hunt for Stencil Shading: Families will find knowledge boards around the space where they can learn more about the facilities. Bring your own paper and pencil and collect stencil shadings that can be found around the space too! 

Climbing Wall: Families will also find a climbing wall where kids can have active fun while learning about the climate too! 

Stamford Canal Murals: Take a walk along the rejuvenated Stamford Canal to see wall murals that tell the story of the site’s heritage and its transition into a social impact hub.

Repurposed Play & Rest: Keep an eye out for the furniture and fixtures; they are made from timber repurposed from older trees previously on the site, teaching kids a great lesson about circularity.

The Community Farm

One of the biggest highlights for families is the Community Farm by Fullerton Fund Management. This space is dedicated to encouraging sustainable living and food resilience.

Point out to the kids how common herbs and spices actually look like before they are processed. 

Versatile Spaces

The outdoor space offers families a space to rest, relax and spend time together. At the same time, the spaces are versitle allowing communities to use the space for various activities and events. Families can also look out for experiences that include 

• Farmers' Markets: Regular markets will be held where you can support local producers.
• Interactive Workshops: Join community farm tours and workshops designed to increase awareness of local produce.
• Farm-to-Table Experiences: Dining experiences featuring produce grown right on-site.

Cool & Conscious Indoors

If the afternoon heat gets too much, the indoor shophouse areas are just as impressive. It is on track to be Singapore’s first heritage shophouse to achieve BCA Green Mark Platinum Zero Energy certification.

Smart Cooling: The building uses a hybrid cooling system with CO_{2} sensors that adjust airflow based on how many people are in the room, ensuring it stays comfortable without wasting energy.

Solar Power: You can spot solar panels on the roof that help offset the building's energy needs.

While the space is beautiful all day, we recommend visiting in the evenings. The combination of the hybrid cooling systems and the lush outdoor landscaping makes it a lovely, cooling spot with the family once the sun starts to set.
