While most parents naturally flock to the high-profile play zones at Mandai Wildlife WEST (near Bird Paradise), there is a quiet, "secret" Adventure Playground located at Mandai Wildlife EAST that many families completely overlook.

*Mandai Wildlife EAST is where the Singapore Zoo, Night Safari and River Wonders as well as the newer attractions Exploria and Curiosity Cove is located. 

Whether you are waiting for friends to arrive for a trip to the Singapore Zoo, or you have just finished a meal at the Food Republic and the kids are starting to get restless, this hidden gem is the perfect find for some quick, outdoor play.

How to Find the Secret Mezzanine Play Area

Because this playground isn't at eye level from the main courtyard, you wouldn't even actually see it or know about it. This means it is relatively quiet, but you will have to know exactly where to look.

According to BYKidO, you can find this hidden playground by navigating towards the entrance of Exploria. Just to the left of the Exploria entrance, you will spot a set of outdoor stairs and signage pointing towards the Toy Doctor. Head up these stairs and follow the short path—it will lead you straight to the Adventure Playground!

Active Play: Swings and See-Saws

The play area is designed primarily for children aged 5 to 12 years old, though younger toddlers can enjoy it with close supervision. The general play section has a natural, forest-inspired aesthetic with wooden "trunks" integrated into the design.

• Tandem Swing: One of our favourite features! This swing allows a parent and a toddler to face each other while swinging—perfect for little ones who need a bit of reassurance.

• See-Saw: This bright yellow see-saw features seat belts so kids can safely enjoy the swaying motion.

The Giant Climbing Wall & Slide

For the older kids (recommended ages 8 to 12) who need a bit more of a challenge, the Giant Climbing Wall is the main attraction. Despite the name, it is actually a tiered, gently sloped experience rather than a vertical wall. Little ones can climb up to the highest tier and enjoy a great physical workout.

• The Ascent: Kids can use the colourful hand-holds, foot-grips, or a sturdy climbing rope to pull themselves up the slope.

• The Slide: Once they reach the second tier, they can take the fast way down via a straight, open slide.

• Alternative Access: If your little one (or yourself) isn't quite ready for the climb, there are stairs located to the left of the wall so they can still reach the top and enjoy the slide.

Shaded Seats

While the playground is not sheltered, parents will be pleased to know that there are sheltered seats that you and your child can rest at in-between play! 

BYKidO Pro-Tip: since this playground is located on an outdoor mezzanine, it can get quite hot during the midday sun as there is limited overhead shade. We recommend visiting in the early morning or after 4:00 pm. It’s also the perfect "waiting room" if you are early for Exploria or Curiosity Cove time slots!
