For Our Little Explorers (Ages 3-5): The Otter Playground
Head over to the playground in front of Block 179A and prepare for an overload of cuteness! The otter playground at Hougang Citrine is a dream come true for preschoolers. The star attraction is an otter-themed play structure with an inviting entrance for little ones to scurry into. Inside, they'll discover various climbing elements and sensory activities designed to engage their developing senses.
One of the highlights is the enclosed tube slide, cleverly fashioned as the otter's tail, promising squeals of delight as they whizz down. There’s even a fun log-like tunnel for them to crawl through, perfect for a game of hide-and-seek. Don't miss the adorable dragonfly see-saw, a charming touch that adds to the whimsical atmosphere.
For Our Bigger Adventurers (Ages 5+): The Fishing Village Playground
Just a short stroll away, in front of Block 179B, lies the exhilarating Fishing Village Playground. This zone truly captures the spirit of Hougang's "back of the river" origins. The undisputed centrepiece here is a super tall climbing tower. This multi-level structure challenges older children to scale up a maze of climbing ropes, fostering their agility and confidence. Reaching the very top offers a rewarding "bird's eye view" before they descend via a thrilling curved tube slide.
While it might be a bit challenging for the youngest ones, the rope maze and balancing rope provide exciting obstacles for those ready for a bigger adventure. This side of the Hougang Citrine outdoor playground also features a lively hopscotch area and other elements that encourage cooperative play amongst children of different ages.
The Hidden Gem: Rooftop Play
While we didn't get to visit, we understand that there is a rooftop garden above the multi-storey car park at Block 180. This simple yet charming area features play panels and a set of hanging steps with wobbly elements, offering gentle challenges in a relaxed setting.
