It’s National Day week, and there’s so much for families to explore! Celebrate SG60 at Suntec City with fun hawker-themed challenges and interactive play zones, or embark on a time-travel adventure at the National Museum with the all-new Singapore Odyssea. Over at Gardens by the Bay, don’t miss two special events — the stunning Orchid Extravaganza and the lively NDP 2025 Bay Celebrations. Take the celebrations outdoors with seven dazzling light activations and digital experiences across the Bras Basah.Bugis precinct. Plus, for little explorers, check out Wan To Play Tropical Drift, a vibrant new indoor playground at Woodlands Civic Centre packed with pretend-play fun and thrilling activities!

1. Celebrate SG60 at Suntec City with Jubilee Joy

Celebrate SG60 at Suntec City with a vibrant line-up of family-friendly fun!

Head to the Atrium (Tower 1 & 2), 11am–9pm, where kids aged 4–12 can take on the Food Playground Challenge for free—just sign up as a Suntec+ member! Highlights include the towering Dragon Slide, Chendol Ball Pit, and four culinary-themed games like Prata Shot and Chicky Stack. Complete all stations to redeem freebies and stand a chance to win Gojek vouchers. Don’t miss the community art project, where a $5 donation lets you add your wish to a digital mural by local artist Ah Guo.

On 8 & 9 Aug (5pm–9pm), join the National Day Countdown at Suntec Plaza for free ice cream, trivia games, nostalgic pop-ups, and live music by Ben Hum.

2. Step Into Singapore Odyssea at the National Museum

Discover Singapore Odyssea: A Journey Through Time, opening on 8 Aug at the National Museum of Singapore’s refreshed Glass Rotunda!

This multi-sensory installation takes visitors on an immersive voyage through 700 years of Singapore’s history with stunning visuals, interactive storytelling, and dynamic soundscapes. Adopt a magical land, sea, or sky companion via an RFID wristband for a personalised experience as you explore highlights like the LED Globe light show, an epic spiral ramp journey across four historical chapters, and an awe-inspiring digital waterfall finale.

Complete your visit with special National Day programmes, including the Once Upon A Tide exhibition, hands-on art activities, LEGO builds, and the spectacular Canvas of Light projection on 9 Aug.

3. Join the August Festivities at Gardens by the Bay: Orchid Extravaganza & NDP 2025 Bay Celebrations

Celebrate a lively August at Gardens by the Bay with two can’t-miss events!

From 1 to 31 Aug, immerse your family in the stunning Orchid Extravaganza at the Flower Dome, featuring over 6,000 vibrant orchids, including a walk-in 6.5-meter orchid-clad Supertree centerpiece. Discover unique orchid hybrids named after local places and institutions, and explore Peranakan-inspired floral designs. Flower Dome ticket holders also enjoy complimentary entry to the Peranakan Museum for a limited time, plus a chance to win a gold orchid brooch in a social media contest.

Then, on 9 Aug at The Meadow, join the NDP 2025 Bay Celebrations with a free live telecast of the National Day Parade accompanied by lively performances, making it a perfect family outing to celebrate Singapore’s SG60 milestone.

4. Celebrate National Day with 7 Stunning Light Activations in Bras Basah.Bugis

Celebrate SG60 in the historic Bras Basah.Bugis precinct with the National Day Activations, running from 1 Aug to 6 Sep!

This year’s edition goes beyond lighting up landmarks, offering an immersive experience with seven stunning light activations and digital displays that bring heritage to life. Stroll through illuminated icons like the National Museum of Singapore (1 to 9 Aug), Reflection Pool @ Bras Basah MRT, Fortune Centre and Ten Square digital billboards, Stamford Walkway, St Joseph’s Church, and The Cathay. 

Designed to spark imagination and connect communities, the activations light up the precinct from 7.30pm to midnight on Fridays and Saturdays, and until 11pm on Sundays to Thursdays. 5. Explore the Newly-Opened Wan To Play Tropical Drift at Woodlands Civic Centre

Discover Wan To Play Tropical Drift, a vibrant new indoor playground at Woodlands Civic Centre designed for hours of imaginative and active fun!

Kids can dive into creative role-play at themed stations like a pretend kitchen, hospital, car repair shop, police zone, and even a glamorous dress-up corner. For action lovers, there’s a large ball pit, trampolines, slides, and the thrilling “Floor is Lava” challenge, while younger ones can enjoy the bead sand pit. Quiet activities include fishing games, building blocks, and kinetic sand for sensory play. For extra excitement, add-on rides such as mini excavators, bumper cars, and construction vehicles (from $8 per ride) are available.

Open daily from 9am to 9pm, the playground is located at Woodlands Civic Centre #04-07, just a short walk from Woodlands MRT. Admission is $35 for 2 hours (1 child + 1 adult). For more details, check out our write-up here.
