2022 is heating up with lots of exciting events and activities happening this weekend and beyond!

It might just be January but the year is starting to be a really exciting one as we look forward to the happenings around the 10th Edition of the Singapore Art Week, especially the marquee event, the Light To Night Festival!

And that is not the only thing we are looking forward to this weekend - read on to find out more! 

TheVirtualBabySitter LIVE Storytelling - "Back-To-School Stories"

Tune into @thevirtualbabysitter LIVE storytelling sessions this week on IG live! From Tuesday-Friday, Selma (TheVirtualBabysitter) will be sharing stories related to going back to school (or for some, the first day of school)! These stories are specially selected to help children calm their back to school jitters, and excite them for the journey ahead. See the schedule below:

Selma, a trained actor with years of experience working with children, is an animated and engaging storyteller who hopes to instill the love of books in children. TheVirtualBabysitter is an online platform that provides a variety of programmes that keep children entertained remotely. 

Pongal 2022 Celebrations @ Indian Heritage Centre

From 8 to 16 January 2022, Indian Heritage Centre (IHC) presents a series of on-site and online activities that will immerse participants in the Pongal festivities. Celebrate Pongal 2022 with IHC with heritage trails, Pongal pot painting, drop-in craft activities, and a Tanjore art workshop (a classical South Indian painting style). There will also be online offerings for those who prefer to stay home too! 

Many of these activities might be sold out, but families can still head down to the IHC to learn more about the significance of Pongal and take part in free craft activities too!  

National Heritage Board's Hongbao Campaign

Dates: 7 Jan - 4 Feb 2022
Admission: Free

The National Heritage Board's (NHB) popular Lunar New Year Hongbaos are back in the Year of the Tiger! From 7 Jan to 4 Feb 2022, families will be able to collect a set of unique red packet designs at each of the 35 participating museums, heritage institutions and galleries! 

There are a total of 35 designs to be collected from 35 participating MR members. Families will need to visit each museum to collect the red packet with their respective designs. Each set will contain eight pieces of red packets and is limited to one set per visitor.

Start making plans to visit your favourite museum and even a new museum! Make it a mission (and a new family tradition) to collect as many red packets as possible! 

Curiocity: Places & Perspectives by the National Library Board 

Venue: National Library Building \ Civic District
Dates: 3 Jan - 3 Feb 2021
Admission: Free

Everyone is invited to discover and engage with Singapore’s history at Curiocity: Places & Perspective! Experience the various facets of Singapore’s history that may have been hidden in plain sight through a series of creative installations, treasure hunts and talks for all ages, complemented by a digital storytelling website.

Curiocity aims to inspire greater appreciation of Singapore identity and heritage by eliciting a sense of curiosity and wonder of the country’s hidden stories! You can expect installations and activities at the National Library Building, various spots along the Civic District and 3 districts in Singapore - Kampong Glam, Yishun and Punggol!

Light to Night Festival 2022

We are definitely looking forward to the phygital format (it is more the physical for us) of the Light to Night Festival 2022. You can expect an expanded line-up of day and night programmes and more festival locations across three weeks.

There will many firsts at this year's festival including new art experiences and new venues, as well as old favourite, including the highly popular Art Skins on Monuments, Art x Social festival village and more!
