Collect exclusive Year of the Horse red packets across 49 museums and take part in a digital Hongbao Hunt at selected NHB museums this festive season.

Museum Roundtable (MR) Hongbao Campaign 2026

The National Heritage Board’s (NHB) much-loved Museum Roundtable (MR) Hongbao Campaign returns in 2026 to welcome the Year of the Horse. This year’s edition features an adorable horse mascot reimagined into 49 unique red packet designs, each inspired by a participating museum, heritage institution or gallery.

Perfect for families, collectors and culture lovers, the campaign encourages festive exploration across Singapore’s vibrant museum scene.

Collect Exclusive Red Packets at 49 Participating Museums

From 23 January to 15 February 2026, members of the public can visit any of the 49 participating MR museums to collect an exclusive set of red packets.

  • Each visitor is entitled to one set of six red packets per museum
  • Red packets are available while stocks last
  • Collectors can build a diverse set by visiting multiple museums across the campaign period

This makes for a meaningful Chinese New Year activity — combining cultural discovery with festive keepsakes.

New for 2026: Take on the Hongbao Hunt Gamified Experience

Adding an exciting interactive layer to this year’s campaign is Hongbao Hunt, a gamified museum experience available at six participating NHB museums and institutions, i.e., Asian Civilisations Museum, Changi Chapel and Museum, Indian Heritage Centre, National Museum of Singapore, Reflections at Bukit Chandu and Peranakan Museum.
Signup is FREE and seamless using Singpass or your e-mail.

Steps to participate in Hongbao Hunt:

  1. Open up Hongbao Hunt (https://games.nhb.gov.sg/hongbao-hunt) on your mobile device and tap on “Sign In to Play”.
  2. Tap on “Connect” to start the sign-in process. Once connected, tap on “Start Playing”.
  3. You will be prompted to locate a certain artefact at the museum you are at, with a riddle to guide you to correctly guess what the artefact is and where it might be. Once you have located the artefact, tap on “Start” to scan it.
  4. Once the correct artefact is scanned, tap on “Claim Reward Now” to access My Rewards page.
  5. On the “My Rewards” page, select the museum you are at and click on “Claim Reward Now”. A unique QR code will be generated. Head over to the Hongbao Hunt vending machine to scan the QR code and redeem your red packets!

It’s a fun and engaging way to encourage closer museum exploration — especially for families with older children.

Win All 49 Designs in Online Giveaways

Missed a museum or want the complete set? Two online giveaways will be held on the “I Love Museums” Facebook page, giving participants a chance to win a full set of red packets from all 49 MR members.

  • First Giveaway: 23 – 30 Jan 2026
  • Second Giveaway: 6 – 13 February 2026
  • Winners: 30 randomly selected winners per giveaway

Details on participation will be announced at the start of each giveaway period on the Facebook page.
