Singapore Oceanarium has launched PADI Discover Snorkelling, an experience that lets participants float directly above thousands of marine animalsâincluding manta rays and sharksâwithout needing any prior swimming, snorkelling, or scuba diving experience.

Venue: Singapore Oceanarium
Dates: Fri - Sun, 10.30 am
Fees: $109 per person (Includes 1-day Singapore Oceanarium admission ticket and full equipment rental)
The Singapore Oceanarium at Resorts World Sentosa has officially enhanced its marine dive centre, earning accreditation as a PADI 5-Star Instructor Development Dive Resort. To mark this milestone, the oceanarium has launched PADI Discover SnorkellingâSingaporeâs only in-oceanarium snorkelling experience.
Designed for beginners, families, and young ocean lovers aged 10 and above, this 90-minute surface encounter allows participants to swim along the top of the iconic Open Ocean Habitat. It offers clear views of thousands of marine animalsâincluding manta rays, sharks, and schooling fishâwithout requiring any prior swimming, snorkelling, or scuba diving experience.
No Swimming or Diving Experience Needed
If your child has always wanted to get closer to marine life but is not a confident swimmer or certified diver, PADI Discover Snorkelling offers a safe and low-pressure starting point.
The entire experience takes place on the water's surface in a controlled indoor environment. Every session is led by experienced PADI dive instructors who provide a thorough safety briefing, help with gear fitting, and teach basic surface breathing techniques before anyone enters the water. Floating aids and wetsuits provide natural buoyancy, allowing participants to drift comfortably while observing the habitat below.
A Bird's-Eye View of Manta Rays, Sharks & Marine Life
Once in the water, participants snorkel along the surface of the Open Ocean Habitatâthe oceanariumâs vast central aquarium. From this vantage point, you can look directly down as giant manta rays glide past, sharks swim along the deeper ledges, and large schools of fish move in formation.
Unlike viewing the habitat behind the acrylic gallery windows, swimming directly above the water gives families a far more immersive, clear perspective of the scale and diversity of the ecosystem.
Marine Conservation & Educational Learning
Beyond the water time, the programme incorporates foundational lessons on marine ecology. Instructors share practical insights into how the oceanarium cares for its animals, the role different species play in marine ecosystems, and simple steps families can take to protect ocean habitats. It serves as an engaging blend of practical adventure and environmental education for older kids and teens.
Other Dive & Marine Programmes at Singapore Oceanarium
For families with certified divers or teenagers interested in taking their diving skills further, the newly accredited PADI 5-Star Dive Centre offers a full progression of underwater programmes:
-
PADI Discover Scuba Diving: A small-group trial session for non-certified beginners wanting to try breathing underwater on scuba gear.
-
PADI Open Water Diver Course: A full entry-level certification course where participants complete formal training to earn an internationally recognised diving licence.

At $109 per person, the PADI Discover Snorkelling package includes:
- Full 90-minute experience (inclusive of briefing, gear setup, and water time)
- Complete rental of snorkelling equipment (mask, snorkel, wetsuit, and floatation gear)

BYKidO Tip for Parents
Because no prior swimming ability or snorkelling experience is required, this is a great, low-stress confidence builder for kids aged 10 and up who may be curious about marine biology or diving. Plan to arrive at the dive centre at least 30 minutes before your booked time slot to comfortably complete the registration, health declaration forms, and gear fitting without rushing. Afterwards, bring a change of clothes and spend the rest of the day exploring the oceanarium's walkthrough tunnels and interactive touch pools.
