More About Olafur Eliasson: Your Curious Journey
This exhibition showcases 17 mesmerising artworks that employ diverse media, reflecting the diversity of Eliasson’s wide-ranging oeuvre throughout his three-decade-long practice — exploring embodiment, experience, perception, the urgency of climate action, and more-than-human perspectives.
What makes it even more special is that you'll come across never-before-seen works and Singapore-exclusive installations, only available at this leg of the traveling show.
From the moment you step into the venue, you will be immediately greeted by Yellow Corridor (1997), a row of mono-frequency yellow lights illuminates the passageway between Galleries 1 and 2, creating an uncanny somatic experience where your visual spectrum is desaturated and washed in shades of grey.
The work reflects Eliasson’s interest in co-creation with his audiences, where their unique first-person perspective completes the experience.
You can also experience this concept in The Cubic Structural Evolution Project (2004), one of two Singapore-only exclusives. You’re invited to actively participate in building and transforming a LEGO cityscape, which comes to life through your creativity and involvement.
With piles of white LEGO bricks waiting for you to build imaginative structures, this space encourages you to collaborate, play, and create something special together with others.
The exhibition also explores Eliasson’s use of ephemeral and intangible materials like light, wind, fog, and water to create fleeting phenomena, allowing you to experience these invisible elements of the surroundings more directly. You can find another exclusive work in Symbiotic Seeing (2020).
As colored laser lights meet bursts of fog, you will witness a captivating spectacle that seems to hover between physical states. As the fog swirls above, following your movements, you’ll find yourselves directly involved in shaping your surroundings—turning the experience into a memorable moment shared both personally and together.
