Disney On Ice celebrates Everyone's Story
This year's Disney On Ice celebrates Everyone's Story, you will expect many of Disney's iconic characters - Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Donald, the Princesses, Aladdin and newer characters from Toy Story, Frozen and even Zootopia!
But this article will not be talking about them, but about what we learned about Disney On Ice's 25th Anniversary in Singapore!
1. 25th Show but not 25th Year
Although this is Disney On Ice's 28th year in Singapore, its just their 25th show here since 1990, thus celebrating the 25th Anniversary this year!
Why? - There were a couple of years that the show didn't manage to tour in Singapore.
2. Keeping the Performers Awake and Fed
With over 225 costumes and at least as many performers + crew, every Arena (yes, that's the term used for each venue) has a Coffee Stand setup backstage for the performers to fill up the coffee mugs and hungry tummies!
Can you tell they arrived in Singapore at 2am for the event?
3. Each Performer - A Story to Share
What was interesting for me was when the performer shared stories of themselves and learning what they did apart from playing their roles on the show.
Kristie Nelson, who portrays Cinderella is a certified yoga instructor and conducts classes for the rest of the cast. She is like the in-house Yoga Master...
Laura Stern, who portrays Snow White prefers crunchy peanut butter (while most of the cast prefers creamy)... and I thought that was just like Snow White biting into the crunchy poisonous red apple!
Costumes are made to look pretty but also have to be suitable for skating!
After 24 shows, Disney On Ice has entertained over 1.1million viewers in Singapore since 1990! Some of us may have been to the show when we were kids and are carrying on the tradition by bringing our kids now!
