Expanding Singaporeâs Urban Wetlands

The new Wetlands by the Bay will triple the existing mangrove and coastal plant collection in the Kingfisher Wetlands precinct, featuring over 600 mangroves and coastal plants from equatorial regions like Ecuador, Costa Rica, Sri Lanka, and Timor Leste. With more than 50,000 plants in total, the wetlands will provide vital habitats for birds and other wildlife, supporting biodiversity in the heart of the city.
Elevated Connectivity & Community Spaces
A Cantilevered Canopy Boardwalk

AÂ cantilevered canopy boardwalk will extend over Kingfisher Wetlands, connecting Gardens by the Bay MRT station to the Main Entrance, while offering panoramic views of the wetland ecosystem.
Glade Lawn & Open Gardens

The 3,500 sqm Glade Lawn and over 8,000 sqm of open gardens will host community events and create corridors for pollinators, strengthening Gardens by the Bayâs role as a public green space.
Refreshed Waterfront Dining

A refreshed, contemporary food court on the ground level will be complemented by a selection of waterfront casual-dining restaurants on the upper deck. Visitors can enjoy a modern dining experience with both indoor and alfresco seating, offering views over the wetlands. An upper-level viewing gallery provides sweeping vistas of the Marina Reservoir and the iconic Foundersâ Memorial, seamlessly blending nature and cityscape for a truly unique dining ambiance.
teamLab Flagship Museum

The 12,000 sqm teamLab flagship museum will feature itâs first-ever multi-sensory indoor
and outdoor voyage experience, where visitors can explore freshwater wetlands via custom-designed pedal kayaks along controlled waterways.
Connecting Bay South & Bay East Gardens

A new 175m-long sinuous bridge will connect Bay South and Bay East Gardens across the Marina Reservoir. Its curved design rises at the Bay South Garden end and gently slopes down toward Bay East Garden, coming to rest just above the waterâs surface. This creates a âwalking on waterâ experience, offering panoramic views of the Singapore skyline, including the two cooled conservatories and Supertrees at Bay South Garden, as well as the upcoming Foundersâ Memorial at Bay East Garden.
Construction starts in Q2 2026 and completes in 2028. Pedestrian and cyclist routes will be temporarily diverted, with clear on-site signage provided.
Wetlands by the Bay promises a transformative combination of nature, art, and community engagement, positioning Gardens by the Bay as a model for urban biodiversity and immersive environmental experiences.
