The classic Changi chalet weekend gets a modern, heritage-inspired upgrade with the opening of Coliwoo Resort Changi, a new family-friendly co-living resort option.

Venue: Jalan Loyang Besar, Singapore
Fees: from $190 per night

Remember the days when a family chalet booking in Changi meant smoky barbecues, noisy karaoke, and basic, no-frills lodging? That nostalgic concept is getting a modern reimagining. Located along Jalan Loyang Besar, the brand-new Coliwoo Resort Changi has officially opened its doors, occupying a refurbished 40-year-old state-owned holiday chalet site.

Designed with a tranquil, black-and-white bungalow aesthetic, the sprawling 380,000-square-foot property is Singapore's first resort-style co-living hotel. It offers families a fresh, nature-filled staycation option that balances historic charm with modern, resort-style facilities.

Accommodation Options for Families

The resort features 380 rooms designed to cater to different group sizes, offering dedicated spaces for families to unwind.

  • Spacious Maisonettes: Priced from $280 per night, these multi-level units are designed with families and larger groups in mind, providing extra living space and a modern layout.

  • Superior Studios: Priced from $190 per night, these studios offer private, open-air settings finished with a restrained palette of stone and timber, ideal for smaller family getaways.

Long-terms stay options are also available. Booking are available now for stays from 1 Aug 2027.

Recreational Facilities & Play Areas

The property is equipped with a wide variety of multi-purpose amenities to keep children occupied and parents relaxed during their stay:

  • Aquatic Zones: The resort features a dedicated kids' pool, a larger adult swimming pool, and a jacuzzi pool.

  • Sports & Fitness: Families can access an outdoor sports court and a fully-equipped indoor gym.

  • Play Spaces: A brand-new outdoor kids' playground is located on-site, giving younger children a dedicated space to run around.

  • Social Lounges: The facilities also include dedicated karaoke rooms and social lounges for indoor entertainment.

Nature & Eco-Friendly Design

Built with sustainability in mind, the resort's design preserves much of the site's original character and surrounding environment.

  • Preserved Greenery: The 10-month restoration project retained close to 40 per cent of the site's existing landscape, offering wide-open green spaces for morning walks.

  • Heritage Touches: The buildings feature the site's original terracotta clay tile roofs, alongside upcycled timber screens that have been repurposed into benches, planter boxes, and tabletops.

  • Green Initiatives: The property incorporates eco-conscious features such as solar and rainwater harvesting, food composting, and EV charging lots.

Scheduled Community Programmes

Coliwoo Resort Changi plans to host regular outdoor and indoor programming built around wellness, social activities, and family bonding.

  • Family & Holiday Activities: The resort's calendar is set to include dedicated school holiday activities, weekend family staycation experiences, and outdoor team-building games.

  • Barbecues & Socials: Families can look forward to weekend BBQ socials held at the property’s outdoor event plazas.

  • Parent Wellness Sessions: For parents looking to recharge, the resort plans to offer guided wellness sessions, including Yin Yoga, Sound Healing, and Gong Meditation.

  • Outdoor Exploration: Guests can join guided morning runs via the Sunrise Social Run Club or explore the nearby coastal routes.

*note that it is not yet clear if these programmes will be available for short-term stays or just for the long-term residents.

BYKidO Pro-Tip: While we haven't personally reviewed the rooms yet, the location is highly convenient for families. The resort is just minutes walk to Downtown East, making it very easy to head out for meals, catch a movie, or visit Wild Wild Wet. It is also situated minutes from Pasir Ris Park, so we highly recommend packing the kids' scooters, bicycles, and beach toys to make the most of the nearby coastal path.
