Mövenpick Resort & Spa Bintan Lagoon: Our Family Getaway Filled with Pool Days, Playtime & Beachfront Moments

We spent our Bintan getaway at Mövenpick Resort & Spa Bintan Lagoon, where the kids enjoyed endless pool adventures and playtime while the adults relaxed with spa treatments, chocolate treats and beachfront dining.

Venue: Mövenpick Resort & Spa Bintan Lagoon, Jalan Indera Segara Site A12, Sebong Lagoi, Teluk Sebong, Kab Bintan Kepulauan Riau 29155 Bintan, Indonesia

Located along Bintan’s longest beach and just an hour away from Singapore, Mövenpick Resort & Spa Bintan Lagoon is an easy island escape for families looking to slow down, reconnect and spend quality time together.

Our Family Room: Deluxe Ocean View Rooms
with an Adjoining Room Setup

Thanks to Mövenpick Resort & Spa Bintan Lagoon for hosting us in the Deluxe Ocean View Rooms with an adjoining room setup, which gave our family plenty of space to relax after a day of activities. Having adjoining rooms was especially convenient for our family of five, giving us the extra space of two rooms while still keeping everyone connected.

We also loved stepping out onto the balcony to enjoy the beachfront view, giving us a lovely spot to take in the resort surroundings and slow down after a busy day.

The Kids’ Favourite Spot: Recreation Village Pool

If there was one place our kids kept asking to return to, it was the Recreation Village Pool.

We spent hours here, moving between the different play areas — from the shallow pool to the splash pad and sand play area, with a lunch break in between before heading straight back to the pool.

In fact, our afternoon pretty much became a cycle of pool → splash pad → sand play → lunch → pool again.

Shallow Pool for Younger Kids

The highlight for younger children is the dedicated 0.4m-deep shallow pool. The low water level made it a comfortable space for our younger kids to splash and play, while we could sit nearby and relax while keeping an eye on them.

For parents travelling with little ones who aren't confident swimmers yet, having a dedicated shallow pool right within the recreation area is a definite plus.

Wet & Dry Playgrounds + Sand Play Area

Right beside the pool is a huge interactive water splash pad, which kept the kids entertained with its water features and spray zones. There is also a fun curvy tunnel slide, a sand play area and a dry playground just beside the pool, giving the kids plenty of options even when they wanted a break from the water.

With everything clustered within the same recreation zone, we didn't have to constantly pack up and move from one activity to another. The kids could simply wander between the different play areas — which was probably why we ended up spending so many hours here.

Recreation Village: More Than Just a Pool

The Recreation Village is more than just a swimming area, with plenty of activities, facilities and dining options located nearby.

Recreation Village Sports Lounge

After spending hours at the pool, we also had lunch at the Recreation Village Sports Lounge, which was really convenient — we could take a break, grab a bite, and then head straight back for more playtime.

Little Birds Club: More Ways for Kids to Play

Families can check out Little Birds Club, one of the larger kids’ clubs in Bintan, featuring creative play areas, slides, climbing structures and even a dedicated nap room. The club also runs activities for children, including creative craft sessions and other guided activities, giving kids another option for indoor play when they need a break from the sun.

Sports, Games & Fitness

There are also plenty of options for older children and adults around the Recreation Village. The resort has a 24/7 gym, a fitness studio, a pool table at the bar and an arcade, which we also checked out during our stay.

Wellness & Watersport Activities

Guests looking for a more relaxing experience can join wellness sessions such as mat Pilates, Aerial Sound Bath and beachside mind & body flow, offering opportunities to slow down and recharge.

For those who prefer something more active, optional watersport activities such as kayaking, stand-up paddleboarding and bodyboarding are also available.

Complimentary Bike Rentals

Families can also make use of the complimentary bike rentals to explore the resort at a more leisurely pace.

It’s a nice option when you want to get out and explore beyond the main recreation areas without having to rely on the buggy for every trip.

Another Pool Option: Ocean Pool

For a different pool experience, there is also the resort’s Ocean Pool, located near the main lobby.

The beachfront-facing pool offers a more scenic setting overlooking the coast, making it another spot to enjoy a swim or simply relax by the water.

With the Ocean Pool and Recreation Village Pool located in different parts of the resort, families have a choice between a more laid-back beachfront pool experience and the more activity-filled Recreation Village.

Family-Friendly Dining Throughout the Stay

Another thing we enjoyed about staying at a resort was being able to enjoy different dining experiences without needing to leave.

Port 19

We started our days with breakfast at Port 19, which offers a buffet spread with plenty of options to fuel up before heading out for activities.

A nice family-friendly touch is the dedicated kids’ corner at the breakfast buffet, making it easier for little ones to pick out something they’ll enjoy.

We also had lunch here during our stay — particularly convenient after a morning at the pool when everyone was ready for food.

Chocolate Hour at Klon-Tong

The kids were especially excited for Chocolate Hour at Klon-Tong — Mövenpick’s signature daily ritual featuring a selection of chocolate treats.

It quickly became one of those little holiday rituals the kids looked forward to each day.

Yokatta Izakaya & Bar

For dinner, we enjoyed a Japanese meal at Yokatta Izakaya & Bar, which offered a change of pace from the resort’s other dining options.

Shantara Spa & Wellness:
A Little Pampering for the Adults

Of course, the kids weren't the only ones who got to have fun.

We also enjoyed a relaxing massage at Shantara Spa & Wellness, which was a welcome opportunity to slow down and recharge.

After spending hours in and around the pool with the kids, having some quiet time for a spa treatment felt like exactly what the adults needed.

Soñada Beach Club: Sunset Dinner by the Beach

One of our favourite evenings was spent at Soñada Beach Club, Bintan’s largest and only two-storey beach club.

We settled in for a relaxed sunset dinner by the beach, taking in the sea views and soaking in the slower pace of island life.

After a full day of swimming and playing, ending the day by the water with dinner was a lovely way to wind down together.

Bintan Lagoon International Golf Course

Golfers can also make the most of the resort’s proximity to Bintan Lagoon International Golf Club, home to two 18-hole championship courses designed by Jack Nicklaus and Ian Baker-Finch.

The two courses offer a different experience for golfers looking to fit in a round during their island getaway, while the rest of the family enjoys the resort’s many recreational facilities.

Complimentary Buggy Transfers
Make Getting Around Easy

One thing we really appreciated during our stay was the complimentary buggy transfer service within the resort.

As the resort is spread out, having buggies available made getting between our room, dining areas and recreational facilities much easier — especially with three young children.

It meant less walking when the kids were tired and made moving around the resort feel much more manageable for our family.

Final Thoughts: A Resort That Works
for Both Kids and Parents

What we liked most about Mövenpick Resort & Spa Bintan Lagoon was that we didn't have to choose between a holiday that the kids would enjoy and one where the adults could actually relax.

The kids had plenty to keep them occupied — especially at the Recreation Village Pool — while the adults could sneak in a massage, enjoy a leisurely meal or simply sit back while the kids played nearby.

The adjoining rooms, complimentary buggy transfers and range of family-friendly facilities also made travelling with three young children noticeably easier.

For us, it felt less like a trip where we had to constantly plan what to do next, and more like a proper family break where everyone could settle into their own version of holiday mode.

BYKidO Tip

Travelling with young kids? Don’t over-plan your stay. Our best days were simply pool, lunch, more pool and plenty of downtime. With so much to do within the resort, there’s really no need to pack your itinerary — give the kids time to play and enjoy the facilities at your own pace.

An Easy Island Getaway from Singapore

Just a short ferry ride from Singapore, Mövenpick Resort & Spa Bintan Lagoon makes for an easy island escape when you’re looking for a change of scenery without having to plan too much.

With accommodation, dining, pools, kids’ facilities, activities and wellness experiences all within the resort, there’s plenty to keep the whole family occupied — or, if you prefer, you can simply slow down and enjoy doing very little.

For families with young children, that balance is what made our Bintan getaway feel like a proper break.
