Awhile back, my girlfriend SH and I decided to arrange for a playdate for both our sons—SY, 8 months old and Baby L, 9 months old—at PIP's PLAYbox, a children’s arts space located on level 4 of the Esplanade.
We went there on a Thursday afternoon and were pleased to see that the place wasn’t so crowded despite it being the December holiday period. We also loved that the place was very clean and safe for kids to have fun and learn through meaningful play.
Located near the entrance is an activity zone where kids (preferably the older ones) can engage in free craft activities, such as origami and coloring.
The section behind the activity zone is the play area, where the kids - especially the crawlers like Baby L - will be allowed to roam freely on the floor. There is also a large collection of toys, such as wooden building blocks, train sets and cars to keep the older kids entertained.
Alternatively, you could also head over to one of the many quiet, cozy corners or “hide-outs” within the area for some downtime with your LO. You might even want to pick up a book or two from the wide selection of children books available and bond over a time of reading together with your kiddo.
Our favorite area of the day was the “treehouse”, a pretty chill-out corner situated at the top of a flight of stairs that overlooks the whole of PIP’s PLAYbox.
Our boys were really having lots of fun and enjoying each other’s company
Due to the success of the trip, I decided to bring Baby L on the first of January 2018 to visit PIP’s PLAYbox again. This time, I brought him to the outdoor section, a part-sculpture and part-play-structure area, where the kiddos could explore and move freely.
Baby L was very fascinated by the mirrors inside the red tower (There is so many of me!)
He was also very happy to be playing in the grass! (Oh, the freedom of being allowed to explore nature!)
Overall, I had a great time and thoroughly enjoyed my experience at PIP’s Playbox just as much as my LO did.
