The National Library Board (NLB) introduces the Babies Can Be Members Too! programme to encourage parents to register their babies library members. This is to encourage bonding through reading from an early age.
After registering, you will even receive a Baby Gift Pack consisting of children books and more.
Where Can You Register?
Parents can apply for the NLB membership via the LifeSG app or at Reservation Lockers in any of our public libraries. Alternatively, parents may also register online (applicable to Singaporeans and PRs – requires SingPass login).
If you are registering at the public libraries, you are required to bring your Child’s Birth Certificate and one parent’s NRIC
Who Can Register?
Your child needs to be born from Jan 2019 onwards. The programme is open to Singapores and PR. For foreigners, we suggest contacting NLB directly to check. While a NLB membership is free for Singaporeans, non-Singaporeans will have to pay a registration and membership fee*.
*PRs have to pay $10.50 for registration, this is waived if applying at the library with staff assistance. Details.
Where Can You Redeem The Baby Gift Pack?
Parents who have registered their child as a NLB member may redeem a Baby Gift Pack from any participating library, excluding library@esplanade, library@chinatown and library@orchard.
The Baby Gift Pack consist of
- 1 English book,
- 1 Mother Tongue book,
- Rhymes & Songs Sing Along (Babies Edition) booklet,
- Tummy Time Animals! brochure
- A Book A Day reading journal.
