Here's a list of weekly family fun events and experiences for you to create family fun this week!

Here's our weekly list of family fun to-dos to help you create lots of fun times with the kids! With Mother's Day this weekend, we have definitely included some fun activities to do with Mummy, and other activities happening around the island for more fun times! So read on and get ready to head out for more family fun!

1. Celebrate Mother's Day with Music at the SSO Mother’s Day Concert!

Venue: Shaw Foundation Symphony Stage, Singapore Botanic Gardens
Date: 12 May 2024, 6 pm
Admission: Free

Mark your calendars for a special musical treat this Mother's Day! Join the Singapore Symphony Orchestra, mezzo-soprano Jade Tan, violinist Tseng Chieh-An and saxophonist Samuel Phuaon 12 May for the SSO Mother’s Day Concert, conducted by the orchestra's very own Music Director, Hans Graf. Held at the Shaw Foundation Symphony Stage in the heart of the Singapore Botanic Gardens, this enchanting concert promises a selection of classical delights and picturesque scenes from the great operas amidst the lush greenery of the gardens. The music you’ll hear will include excerpts from the ever-popular Carmen by Bizet,Massenet’s Méditation and The Swan.

Here's a little tip! Arrive early, get a good spot on the lawn, spread your picnic mats, and have your picnic baskets ready to catch a captivating pre-show performance at 5.35 pm by Symphony 924's Young Talent, zhong ruan player, Li Zhixin, as she wows the audience with 丝路驼铃 ("Camel Bells Along the Silk Road”).

Admission is free, so gather your loved ones (pets are welcome!) and make it a musical Mother's Day to remember! For those unable to attend in person, the performance will be livestreamed on the SSO Youtube channel for your viewing pleasure at home.

2. Enjoy a Nostalgic Adventure at Forum the Shopping Mall

Venue: Forum The Shopping Mall, 583 Orchard Road, Singapore
Dates: 10 - 19 May 2024
Admission: Free

Calling all families! Step into a world of nostalgia and fun at Nostalgic Adventures, happening from the 10 to 19 May 2024 at Forum The Shopping Mall! Expect an adventure filled with laughter, love and the timeless allure of nostalgia! 

Nostalgic Adventures promises an unforgettable experience for families a variety of activities including the Colouring Wall, retro-themed Photobooth, various Kids Workshops, and meet & greet sessions with Otah the Otter, Ang Ku Kueh Girl, and Xiao Pang Ge Ge! 

Families who shop at the mall will also stand a chance to win exclusive merchandise and more from the Sure-win Gashapon, including travel luggage, tote bag and more! 

3. Come and Meet with Bluey and Bingo this May!

Fans of the popular series, Bluey, get ready to be excited this May 2024 as Bluey and Bingo gets ready to meet you and your little ones in real life! Here's your chance to meet your favourite characters Bluey and Bingo in person in Singapore! They will be making special appearances at Kiddy Palace Jurong Point, Lot One, Causeway Point and Northpoint City this week.

  • 11 May: Jurong Point (2.30 pm) & Lot One (5.30 pm)
  • 12 May: Causeway Point (2.30 pm) & Northpoint City (5.30 pm)

*Each meet & greet session is for 30mins.

4. Experience the Northern Lights amidst Supertrees at Borealis

Venue: Supertree Grove
Dates:

  • 7.30 pm - 8.15 pm (4 May 2024)
  • 8 pm - 8.30 pm (Every Mon)
  • 9 pm - 9.30 pm (Every Sat) 

Admission: Free

Get to experience the Northern Lights in Singapore with Borealis, a new immersive light and sound installation at Gardens by the Bay’s Supertree Grove!

Created by Switzerland-based artist Dan Acher, Borealis is an outdoor art installation that combines layers of light and cloud particles where the magical splendour of the Northern Lights, also known as aurora borealis, is recreated to illuminate the night skies of Supertree Grove. Accompanied by an atmospheric soundtrack by French composer Guillaume Desbois, variations in wind, humidity and temperature make this installation a fascinating blend of art and technology, an ever-changing experience, where each encounter is unique and where nature holds the final say. 

Borealis has travelled to more than 40 cities across Europe, Australia, Asia and the US, and the experience at Gardens by the Bay will mark its first time in Singapore.

5. Explore Stories of Our Built Heritage at Singapore HeritageFest 2024

Venue: Across the Island
Dates: 1 - 26 May 2024
Admission: Free and Paid Programmes

Singapore HeritageFest (SHF) returns from 1 to 26 May with over 120 programmes that celebrate the stories and living heritage behind Singapore’s buildings, sites, and structures. Get ready for offshore tours to kelongs and kampongs, ghostly encounters with the spookier parts of our heritage, explorations of old schools and heritage hotels, a secret “undisclosed” experience, and more!

Through workshops, tours, trails, exhibitions and other activities across (and beyond!) the island, festival-goers will get to experience the history behind these buildings, sites and structures, which are imbued with the unique culture and heritage of the communities who live, work and play in and around them.
