1. Play, Create & Explore for Free at REINVENTION: ALLPLAY 2026 at Singapore Science Park

Venue: Geneo
Dates: Till 22 Nov 2026, activities are refreshed regularly
Admission: Free with paid activities

Looking for a fresh, completely free way to get the kids moving and creating? REINVENTION: ALLPLAY 2026 transforms Singapore Science Park into an interactive, four-month festival dedicated entirely to play. Running from August through November, this multi-zone event turns public spaces into living playgrounds, giving families a great mix of hands-on creativity, digital AR missions, and active sports—all without spent a single cent on admission.

Start your visit at The Canopy at Geneo for PlayLab, where kids can explore interactive exhibits themed around Think, Make, Move, Experience, and Connect. Highlights include setting off crazy chain reactions with Rube Goldberg¼ Miracle Machines¼ and tackling the towering climbing installation by PARKLAB. If you have nature-loving kids, don't miss PlayMission, an immersive challenge created with Mandai X’s Ranger Buddies where children use augmented reality (AR) and physical tasks to learn about environmental sustainability.

Make a full day out of your trip by exploring the surrounding Geneo precinct and Science Park drive. Beyond the event spaces, the area offers wide, stroller-friendly paved walkways, shaded garden spots, and plenty of dining options to recharge after the kids burn off their energy at the outdoor PlayCourt sports space.

Visit REINVENTION: ALLPLAY 2026 for more details.

BYKidO Tip: Take MRT to Kent Ridge Station (Exit E) for direct, sheltered access to Geneo. If you're coming on a weekend, combine the PlayLab exhibits with a stroll through the nearby Kent Ridge Park trails for a complete outdoor family day out!

2. Explore Traditional Arts and Cultural Stories at A Date with Tradition 2026 at Stamford Arts Centre

Venue: Stamford Arts Centre
Date: 21 August–5 September 2026
Admission: Free with some ticketed workshops

A Date with Tradition 2026 invites you to discover Singapore’s traditional arts and cultural heritage through this year’s theme, Myths and Legends. Taking place at Stamford Arts Centre, the festival brings traditional stories and art forms to life through performances, interactive installations and participatory experiences.

Families can catch Chinese opera, Indian classical dance and gamelan storytelling, or get hands-on with activities such as batik painting, craft workshops, illuminated origami and a community mural. You can also explore Where the Wildflowers Grow: Rooted, an interactive installation where visitors can touch flowers and watch them glow and sway.

With plenty of opportunities to watch, create and participate, A Date with Tradition 2026 offers a fun way for families to explore different cultural traditions together. Most programmes are free, with selected ticketed workshops available throughout the festival.

3. Discover Malay Culture and Arts at Wisma Geylang Serai’s Bulan Bahasa 2026: ‘Budaya Milik Kita’

Venue: Wisma Geylang Serai, 1 Engku Aman Turn, Singapore 408528
Dates: 15 Aug - 10 Oct 2026
Admission: Free

Introduce your little ones to the vibrant world of Malay language, heritage, and the arts as Wisma Geylang Serai (WGS) celebrates Bulan Bahasa 2026. Running from 15 August to 10 October 2026, this cultural campaign features interactive music sessions, creative arts, and hands-on activities designed to give families an accessible, engaging look into local Malay traditions.

While the line-up spans classical opera and poetry forums, two key highlights are tailormade for kids and parents. On 26 and 27 September, families can drop by Bengkel Rentak Akar, an immersive music workshop led by Nadi Singapura. It introduces participants of all skill levels to traditional Malay percussion and folk rhythms through collaborative music-making—a fantastic, hands-on opportunity for children to bang a drum and feel the beat.

The celebrations wrap up on 10 October with Laman Warna, a dedicated family-friendly arts day filled with creative activities, interactive experiences, and an official attempt to set a new record in the Singapore Book of Records. It is a brilliant, budget-friendly way to spark your child's curiosity about local cultural history in a lively, welcoming setting.

Keep an eye on the official Wisma Geylang Serai Facebook for activity registration and schedule updates.
