Warna-Warni Wisma Geylang Serai: A Community Celebration of Culture and Connection
Marking its 7th anniversary, Wisma Geylang Serai (WGS) presents Warna-Warni Wisma Geylang Serai, a vibrant, full-day festival that brings together residents, families, and visitors through shared cultural experiences. From wellness sessions and interactive workshops to performances and collaborative art-making, the event reflects WGS’ mission as a living space where heritage is practised and everyday encounters become meaningful moments.
Morning Movement: Gerak-Gerak Geylang
Venue: Persada Budaya Stage
Time: 9am – 10am
The day begins with Gerak-Gerak Geylang, a free community fitness session at Persada Budaya Stage. Open to all ages, the morning programme encourages active living and social connection in a welcoming environment.
Family-Friendly Fun: Balance Bike Bonanza
Venue: Anjung @ WGS
Time: 10am – 5pm
A complimentary child-friendly balance bike experience for toddlers aged 2 to 4 years, designed to build confidence and coordination in a safe, supervised environment. Children can take part in non-competitive obstacle courses and balance challenges, with all safety equipment provided. Every participant receives a certificate and goodie bag, with fringe activities and snacks available for families throughout the day.

Hands-On Cultural Workshops
The afternoon unfolds with creative workshops at the Open Plaza:
Community Batik Painting
Venue: Open Plaza
Time: 2pm – 7pm
A collaborative art experience where participants contribute to a three-metre batik artwork specially designed to commemorate Wisma Geylang Serai’s 7th anniversary. Conceptualised by local artist Kamal Arts, the artwork symbolises shared heritage and collective creativity.

Daun Pisang Workshop
Venue: Open Plaza
Time: 2pm – 7pm
A hands-on workshop exploring the cultural significance and sustainable use of banana leaves in Malay traditions. Participants learn practical skills while gaining appreciation for environmentally conscious practices rooted in heritage.
Seni Bunga Workshop
Venue: Open Plaza
Time: 2pm – 7pm
A floral craft workshop where participants create corsages and decorative hair accessories, learning traditional techniques of flower arrangement for both every day and celebratory use.
Drink & Snack Booths
Venue: Open Plaza
Time: 2pm – 7pm
Light refreshments available for visitors throughout the afternoon and early evening.
Interactive Learning Trail: Jejak Budaya
Venue: Persada Budaya
Time: All day
An immersive cultural experience featuring visually engaging installations paired with QR-enabled storytelling. Each installation offers insights into Malay heritage, traditions and contemporary cultural expressions, allowing visitors to explore and learn at their own pace.
Evening Concert: Konsert Warna-Warni Wisma Geylang Serai
Venue: Persada Budaya
Time: 8pm – 9.30pm
The celebration culminates with a live concert featuring a diverse line-up of local and regional performers, hosted by Mediacorp Warna 94.2FM DJs AB Shaik and Mariam Mas’od. Highlights include Malaysian music icon Ziana Zain and Singapore talents Sunny Jackson, Rahila Rashun, Sri Warisan, and Kelana Purba. A special anniversary segment led by Sri Warisan celebrates the continuity of tradition and contemporary community life. The concert will also be livestreamed on WGS’ Facebook page, making it accessible to a wider audience.
