Singapore’s first-ever Star Wars Pop-Up Library lands at Changi Airport

As part of its 30th anniversary celebrations, the National Library Board (NLB) brings fans and families an out-of-this-world experience with Singapore’s first Star Wars Pop-Up Library. In collaboration with Disney and supported by Changi Airport Group, this pop-up library celebrates one of the world’s most iconic franchises while promoting the joy of reading for all ages – from young Padawans to Jedi Masters.

Explore Over 2,000 Star Wars Books

The pop-up features a physical collection of over 2,000 Star Wars books, including 380 unique titles curated by NLB librarians. Fans can dive into stories like:

  • Star Wars: Darth Vader comic series
  • Star Wars: The Mandalorian: The Manga series
  • Star Wars: The High Republic junior novel series
  • The Thrawn: Ascendancy trilogy novels
  • ...and much more!

Enjoy Interactive Activities

Beyond the books, the Star Wars Pop-Up Library brings the galaxy to life with interactive fun. Step into an immersive zone featuring a Jedi personality quiz to discover your inner Force, challenge your Star Wars knowledge with a trivia game, and capture the moment against iconic franchise backdrops on digital screens – perfect for Insta-worthy shots!

Automated Book Retrieval & Return System

NLB is also piloting an automated book retrieval and return system at the Star Wars Pop-Up Library. With the automated book retrieval system, patrons can select the titles through a touch-screen kiosk, and a robotic arm would locate and transport the selected items to the collection point for easy pickup.

The robotic arm also handles book returns and shelving operations, to enable this library to offer a book return service only for books borrowed from this location, and to function largely autonomously. As with all NLB loans, these books can also be returned to any NLB library island-wide.

The collection features both physical and digital offerings. To enter the library, visitors may scan their library-compliant ID card, NLB eCard or request for a QR code day pass with a Singapore-registered mobile number or e-mail via this link. Visitors may borrow the collection via the NLB Mobile app, available on both Google Play and Apple's App Store.
