Singapore HeritageFest at ACM 2024: SPACES & STORIES
In line with this year’s Singapore HeritageFest that celebrates our nation’s rich built heritage, Singapore HeritageFest at ACM, SPACES & STORIES, uncovers intriguing tales of history and architecture while delving into the stories of the Civic District across time. Festival-goers are invited to step into the past and explore ACM’s historic site at Empress Place in a different light with a variety of drop-in activities, tours, and workshops.
Drop-In Activities
Siding Spring and Plains of Notations
Venue: ACM Green

Explore the vibrant and abstract sculptures at the ACM Green, where inspiration from frames, doorways, motifs, and intricate patterns discovered among the objects on display at ACM comes to life. This installation invites you to trace patterns, gaze through portals, and create sounds as you move between the shapes and forms, fostering playful exploration.
This art installation is designed by Hazel Lim-Schlegel and Andreas Schlegel, with input from their young daughter, Hanna Schlegel.
Painting by the River with Tung Yue Nang
Venue: ACM Green
Date: 11 to 12 May 2024
Time: 8am to 11am
Fee: Free Admission
Spend a morning by the Singapore River with Chinese ink artist Tung Yue Nang as he paints a scene of its surrounding architecture and the people he meets. Drop by to observe him at work, have a chat, or just say hi!
Sound Journey in the Galleries with Space2B
Venue: Ancestors and Rituals Gallery, Level 2
Date: 11 to 12 May 2024

Enjoy meditative, multi-instrumental sounds as you explore the galleries. Look out for architectural objects on display at ACM, such as screens and doors, a temple gateway model, the granary roof, and more.
A Wes Anderson-ish Singapore: Short Film Screening and Intro to Architectural Photography with Kevin Siyuan
Date: 11 May 2024
Time: 3pm to 4pm
Fee: Free Admission
Catch a screening of the first volume of A Wes Anderson-ish Singapore, a photographic exploration of Singapore’s built environment. Then, get tips on architectural photography from filmmaker Kevin Siyuan. After the workshop, explore the ACM building and put your skills into practice by photographing the museum’s unique spaces.

Archaeology After Dark: Curator’s Tour
