What Can Families Expect at Peranakan Reimagined?

Families can expect vibrant installations, immersive light projections, performances and workshops, and specially curated Peranakan dining experiences across Sentosa.

The highlights are a series of larger-than-life, Peranakan-themed installations that stretch across Sensoryscape. Here, you can see, hear, touch, and experience the Peranakan heritage. But that's not all, these picturesque installations are the perfect backdrops for your family's photos and memories!

Immersive Peranakan Installations

At the heart of the experience stands a striking 7.2-metre-tall Peranakan-inspired house at Lookout Loop, The Peranakan House is a stunning photo spot by day that transforms into a vivid projection-mapped canvas by night.

We highly recommend that you visit in the evenings when The Peranakan House comes alive with a whole new nighttime experience, with dynamic multimedia storytelling and projection artwork, illuminating the rich textures of past Peranakan life

The Peranakan House light show happens daily from 7.30pm to 9.30pm at 15min intervals. It lasts for 5 mins and is accompanied by music beloved by the Peranakan community, such as 'Chan Mali Chan'. You are highly encouraged to joget (dance) to the vibrant lights and sounds of The Peranakan House and fully immerse in the rich cultural experience!

Over at the Field of Beaded Bloom at Tactile Trellis, families will find a heartfelt tribute to heritage and craftsmanship. In this installation, a showcase of 198 kasut manek (Peranakan beaded shoes) designs comes to life on the tactile trellis hoods, each pattern is individually picked and magnified in striking detail. Look out for the towering pair of these iconic beaded shoes, symbolising the artistry and spirit of Nyonya women. Come nighttime, a new light show at Tactile Trellis brings batik motifs to life through stunning digital light art displays.

Located on the Lower Deck of the Sensoryscape Walkway, Giant in Grace / Gilded Mosaic showcases magnificent, larger-than-life Peranakan-inspired installations, including traditional Peranakan storage jars known as kamcheng, ornate teapot sets, wedding baskets, sequinned artworks and more. Each piece is brought to life at an oversized scale, allowing families to fully appreciate the exquisite details and the rich stories they hold. They also serve as fantastic photo opportunities and immersive backdrops, perfect for capturing family memories.

Fashion, Flavours and Hands-on Heritage

Beyond the Tactile Trellis and Lookout Loop, families will also discover that the other gardens of Sensoryscape have been refreshed to showcase different aspects of Peranakan culture that engage all senses.

Just behind the Tactile Trellis is an exhibit showcasing intricately designed kebayas, reflecting the diverse styles of Peranakan women and European influences on Peranakan fashion.

Beyond sight, delight your senses behind the Scented Sphere, where you can touch and smell the scents of fresh herbs and spices integral to Peranakan cuisine, such as pandan leaf, kaffir lime leaf, lemongrass, and bunga kantan. Don't miss the impressive "Tok Panjang," a grand dining table adorned with exquisite Nyonya porcelain ware and silver cutlery, a true focal point of Peranakan feasts.

Finally, behind Symphony Streams is a showcase of entertainment cherished by the Peranakans, featuring traditional games like Cherki, as well as music and theatre, offering a glimpse into the community’s vibrant social and cultural life.

Peranakan Art Take to the Sky!

To mark the 10th anniversary of the Sentosa Line, the cable car cabins have been transformed with vibrant Peranakan-inspired designs. Cabins are wrapped with a striking palette of pastel hues, ornate tiles, and intricate motifs, taking inspiration from the historic Peranakan shophouses of Koon Seng Road — once home to Singapore’s Peranakan community.

These heritage-inspired cabins turn the skies above Sentosa into a moving tribute to Peranakan culture!

Families can rent beautifully crafted Kebaya Sets at the Sentosa Shop @ Sensoryscape to immerse themselves in the Peranakan experience and grab photos at the picturesque surroundings dressed in heritage elegance.
